You quickly became my favorite ball tester on RUclips due to your dedication to detail and video quality. Bought a Phaze 3 after seeing your vids on it and, wow
Much respect for taking the time out to complete these excellent video ball reviews for the people. I hope your hard work and dedication towards this channel is appropriately recognized. Great job sir.
Just had the chance to try out my Phaze 3 and Purple hammer that I just bought. Sadly, I think I was bowling on a fresh pattern, but after a bunch of people throwing house balls down the lane. I couldn't get anything to hook except the purple hammer a little if I made it roll early. I even tried my guru mighty (yes old school but I am getting back into bowling) and it would barely hook as well. So definitely not the ball's fault, but the lane conditions. I can't wait to see how they both actually react
My Phaze III will be here saturday and can't wait to see how well it pairs up with my ProMotion. Thanks to your wealth of knowledge I'm starting to buildmy arsenal with P3, P2, PM to start. I'm a 2hander with 450-475ish rpm and 17-18mph release and not 100% sure what I should use as my last 2 spots. What do you think about !Q Emerald/Hyroad Pearl and Pitch Black to round out my bag?
How’s the Phaze 3 still holding up for you? Do you still use it? I’m debating between the 2 and 3. I’m wondering what the 3 is like after it’s been worn in a bit. I’m assuming it gets even more predictable and doesn’t have such a harsh reaction as a fresh cut. I’m thinking since I’m just getting back into bowling and currently don’t own a ball, the Phaze 2 is more versatile. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t in love with the look and aggressiveness the 3 looks to have.
I'd like to be using it more, but it's just out of the rotation. It might get another look here soon, I tend to forget about stuff too often because I have so much to juggle. Testing out moving back righty and it'll be one of the first balls I drill if I do that.
Luke, how would you see the Phaze 3 and MVP Pearl working together in a 3-ball arsenal (with plastic for spares) on a THS on wood lanes? I'm a lefty, so I don't usually see much breakdown unless the opposing team has a lefty or two. My thinking was that I could play my same line if I had to make a ball switch to the MVP Pearl because the motions seem similar, but I'm wondering if they're too similar in shape/reaction.
I don't think they're terribly similar . . the Phaze 3 winds up more, the MVP Pearl wants to dig in and slow down more, so this could work. Phaze 3 would let you open the lane up, and the MVP Pearl would control it more and roll more heavily without being TOO early.
@@LukeRosdahl Thanks for the input! And thank you for all of the hard work you put into these videos. I feel like your analysis and reviews have made me a more knowledgeable bowler.
@@LukeRosdahl shiniest I get is a 4000 nano pearl, gets it a little closer to the solid for when it quits a little. I don’t have to jump a zone when I move out of it. PBR still the daddy lately though!
comparing this ball to the fireroad, cause both have the pearl 1500 grit, but maybe more angle downlane, the fireroad had really good entry angles but the medium oil balls im looking at the hyroad, phaze 3,
The Phaze 3 isn't really a medium oil ball, it's pretty strong and there's a huge gap between it and the Hyroad, and it's quite a bit stronger than the Fire Road actually. Most of the difference is the cover, R3S hybrid is quite strong, but if that's what you're looking for, it's definitely the ball.
I’ve decided to click this video again since release date. Mine has around 100 games on it and it is slowly starting to die out for me. I have baked it once and have done proper maintenance on it. Maybe it is one of those balls that loose itself after alot of use? lol
The sharper or stronger balls tend to be more noticeable when they lose their edge, but if you keep up on the oil extractions and the cleaning, should keep you in good shape, but a good resurface every now and then helps freshen that cover back up too
I throw 16-17 and have a rec of 380. I currently have gravity evolve, phase 3, black widow 2.0 and zen. How do you recommend I set them them up for league for ball 1 through 4?
It really depends on how they stack for you, on paper it would be Evolve, 2.0, then the P3 and Zen are virtually a tie, but the Evolve is really smooth, so it could react the weakest of the 4 for you.
Hi, I usually play on lower volume patterns and I am a 2 hander so I dont really have strong hooking balls. At the moment my arsenal is: Idol Pro, All Road, IQ Tour Emerald, Fever Pitch, Spare Ball. Would the Phaze III fit in between the Idol Pro and All Road? Thanks!
Hey Luke. Phaze 3 has quickly become one of my favorite balls of all time - loving the R3S hybrid cover. Is there anything else available on the US market with R3S hybrid other than the Intense Fire?
@@LukeRosdahl thanks. Right now I've a Phaze 2, Phaze 3 and a Code Red. Gonna add one more ball. What do you think the best choice to even out my bag would be? Intense Fire or Physix? Thanks.
Hi Im alex from germany and i play bowling round about 40 years and im a typical tweener. What would it cost when you send me a code Black or a phaze 2 in 14lbs to germany Alex
Hey Luke, I'm a 170-185 avg bowler, 14 mph avg, stroker, 1 hander. I play house league on a 42 feet stone street pattern. I now have a AstroPhysix and a Winner pearl. I was planning on buying a phaze 2 because of the fact it stood the test of time as a classic. But because i have to wait 1,5 month for it to become available in my region, i was thinking about the phaze 3. What would you recommend for me? Wait and stick to phaze 2?
I'd probably suggest to just go Phaze 2 for now. You already have two shiny balls, and the Phaze 2 will give you a different look on the lanes that you don't already have, while the Phaze 3 will be more of the same.
This is crazy dude today I went bowling after 3 years so I sucked and couldn't throw right and when I get home my phone is going off about something and I look at my phone and it's a bowling video this one duh but dude the irony is so hilarious
Luke, I know you don't know how I throw, but hoping for your expert advice. I'd say I'm a tweener averaging 204 and usually play between 2and and 4th arrow given the conditions. I use 16# crux prime and a code red, pin above and a little to the right of my ring finger. I'm trying to add to my arsenal, would this ball be a nice compliment or would an idol, hyroad, iq emerald, etc.. fit better with what I am using? Thanks in advance.
Might be a bit too much overlap with your Code Red, P3 will be a little longer and sharper, but you might drop down a little further to something like a Hyroad. Same cover as your Code Red, just weaker overall, so you'd probably like it.
Maybe . . typically people are busy on Sundays and it seems like there's always some kind of sporting event. In the summer there's baseball games, in the winter it's football, Sunday just seems to be a busier day so not as many people can participate on Sunday generally.
My league bag consists of the p2, halo pearl , idol pearl and the MVP pearl.. is the p3 just a zone left compliment to these balls? Ball looks great..I'm just a little confused on where I would put it in my bag.
All depends on how it acts on the lane. Depending on the conditions and your game, it could be above or below the Halo Pearl, I think it's a zone left personally, but that may not be everyone's opinion or observation.
I've waited on getting this ball cause I just didn't know where to put it in the bag. I'm with you on the thought that it's a zone left ball for my top 3 balls. The other thought I'm having is maybe I can get through a complete series with the p3 by just moving left. I'm drilling one tomorrow the ball looks amazing and I just couldn't ignore the hype any longer 🤣
I just got done watching the phaze 2 comparison and even though this video is about the phaze 3 ibjave a question about my phaze 2. So I've been bowling for about a year and 2 handed for about 5 months and been learning a lot and getting better as I keep bowling. I've put a ton of games on it since I've gotten it and since I changed ball speeds from 15 to 17 I've lost all reaction to the ball. Unless I slow it down which I have become more inaccurate with my arm adjustment I made I dont see my self making 2-3 mph speed changes slower. Saying that should i surface the ball or could it possibly be something else. I understand it's hard to judge from a comment but I wont be anywhere near a pro shop for a while so a best guess would be ok
It probably just needs an oil extraction. That's obviously a pro shop thing, but over time a ball will soak up oil and won't be able to grip the lane as well. The cover also shines as well which reduces the hook, but it's a combination thing. If you were to get the oil extracted and have the ball resurfaced, should be back to like new.
I do like it on drier patterns with some shine on it, but pin up vs pin down on symmetric balls doesn't create THAT big of a difference . . what you might actually think about is a Hustle Ink, you ever had one of those?
It's definitely got pop on the backend, but all bowlers are different, so it's going to work well for some straighter players, and be too much reaction for others. What are you throwing right now?
@@jackolson6479 It's a pearl, but it comes at 3000 and the cover formula is now their strongest. Yeah, I do a review on everything, and nope, I haven't gotten it yet.

So are you saying nothing else wears down/out? Yes, these are all new balls that get thrown, because when people go to buy a new ball, they want to know what it's going to do . . so I show them what the ball is going to do and what they can expect from it right out of the box. Yes, because bowling ball reaction is friction based, and because the ball rolls over the lane countless times, hits the pins, hits the bumper board in the back, and gets fed by wheels and a track back to the bowler, it's going to get worn. You can only maintain something that gets thrown at hard heavy objects for so long. If you take care of them, they'll last several years, but just like anything else, they'll wear out. Golf balls, footballs, baseballs, basketballs, every ball you play a sport with gets worn out. Nobody wants me to use a bowling ball for 300 games before I review it and show them what it does, because then that won't be an accurate representation of what they can expect when they drill the ball. I also have plenty of videos on my channel showing what the balls do after a couple hundred games of use as well. I'm not sure what you think or what you're expecting.
