My brother just passed away at 42 from alcoholism and this song makes me think of him for so many reasons.

I've been looking hither & yon for this song for 35 years. I'd heard a fella sing it at a gathering with my dad and a bunch of other musicians. All gone now. No idea who that fella was way back in '86 now, but the refrain & very last stanza was stuck in the back of my head now for a 1/3rd of a century begging to be known once again in it's complete glory. I'd searched for it now & again. Asked many irish folks if they'd' heard or knew of it. googled it. Asked in special forums after it to no avail. My wife came across it on tictok, fowarded it to me...And for but for moment I flashed back to that day. The sights. The smells. The music. One of my few pleasant memories of my father.

I love the song. In your lyrics, you wrote: "Where the company, it was kind", but sang "Where the company did prove kind". I actually prefer the latter. I just figured I'd point it out, since it threw me off a bit when trying to learn the song.
