I've been looking hither & yon for this song for 35 years. I'd heard a fella sing it at a gathering with my dad and a bunch of other musicians. All gone now. No idea who that fella was way back in '86 now, but the refrain & very last stanza was stuck in the back of my head now for a 1/3rd of a century begging to be known once again in it's complete glory. I'd searched for it now & again. Asked many irish folks if they'd' heard or knew of it. googled it. Asked in special forums after it to no avail. My wife came across it on tictok, fowarded it to me...And for but for moment I flashed back to that day. The sights. The smells. The music. One of my few pleasant memories of my father. Thank you. Thank you Thank you
Please do a rendition of the parting glass for my grandmother Patty Miller. She was of scotts-irish decent and passed yesterday. Thanks so much. Love all you do. Your amazing and I appreciate everything you do and continue to do.
I just happened to pour one... first quaff is always to my older brother, gone these 30 years. Second is for Herself tonight. May Steve meet her and show her around.
This was a special song for my grandma and my dad who both have passed away. I play the song and I feel like I am with them again. My heart is with you
One of my favorite songs! I was a wildland firefighter for several seasons and if you ever want to understand the people who get into that lifestyle, then listen to this song.
The "nightclub" in my podunk town set a sped-up version of this to some techno beatz and ALL the Newfie chicks hit the dance floor when it came on. I miss that place so much...
You just gave a voice to that litle sound in My head That keeps telling me just ... Quit My job and see a good place to just ... Disapear to ... Thanks
I found you through tiktok, I sang along to this 3 or 4 times with a couple whiskeys and mate this is the new squad song. Cheers you angel voiced Irishman 💯🍻
I’ve heard a lot of versions of the song, yet yours is the one I enjoy the most; it has sort of a tavern vibe where everyone could join and sing together, also your voice is lit as hell!!! Keep doing it
Beautiful! I have a half an hour drive to work, and I usually put on one of your songs and play it on repeat the whole drive there. It's very soothing to hear early in the morning, and puts me in a good mood before work. Thank you so much!
Another great song dude! I could be wrong but I don't think a single song you've done has any Dislikes! That's Awesome and one heck of a feat! Good Job.
I've spent my whole adult life traveling with work. I can't sit at home for more than 4 days without going crazy, this song so well captures how I feel, and you sing it so well
I love the song. In your lyrics, you wrote: "Where the company, it was kind", but sang "Where the company did prove kind". I actually prefer the latter. I just figured I'd point it out, since it threw me off a bit when trying to learn the song.
I'm struggling to find the meaning of the song, as beautiful as it is. Is it saying it's better to live risky and fail or safe and fail? Or is that not it at all?
So glad to hear another version of this song. Haven't heard it in a long time. I just found this song the other week (ruclips.net/video/gcOmWD1piKI/видео.html) and I think it'd be a great one for you do.

Sang this for my dad's wake, not a dry eye in the room. I'm sorry for your loss, hope your grandma's passing was peaceful.

This was one of the first songs I heard when I first discovered Celtic music over 30 years ago. Wonderful job.
I enjoy every time a new track is released. I hope for many more in the future. Let's go and listen togehter to that amazing music.

My brother just passed away at 42 from alcoholism and this song makes me think of him for so many reasons.
My condolences
This song really speaks to me. I’ve been in and out of jobs ever since I got out of school And really have lost my goals and Aspirations in life

Found the Siobhan Miller version last year which is very good, my favourite apart from the original is Bob Fox's. This is very good though.

Where can we see you sing in person?
This St. Patrick's day, in Saint Louis Missouri! Its gonna be lit!
I think you should put this up on iTunes cuz it’s quite good as it just sounds better because it just sounds more natural
First of all great song, second is there something wrong with Spotify as I only see two songs on your account
Is that Leith in Edinburgh?
Will more of your songs go on iTunes
I've never liked Tik Tok. Cousin asked me to try it. And it brought me to your channel so I guess it's not so bad.
Dude....your voice is amazing...really...could you possibly do a cover for Soldier by Fleurie? Might be hauntingly beautiful
Have you got a album of all your covers on here? If so where can I find it mate
I'm struggling to find the meaning of the song, as beautiful as it is. Is it saying it's better to live risky and fail or safe and fail? Or is that not it at all?
first one being risky living in the moment and standing for what you believe in and want
a mix of living well but failing and living well and winning
@@persianprince6213 ok, thanks

PLEASE SPOTIFY IT....
I'd love to hear you singing Teir Abheile Riu
