Aside from not being able to understand what was being said, this is the best video on the tsunami I have seen. The video of course showed the terrible events, but it also showed the people and the the survivors. I have viewed the tsunami destroying towns. This allowed me to see the human impact. Not just the sticks and bricks. It put a face to each wave. It allowed me to see the worry they went through. It allowed me to get a glimpse of the disparity and strength. Thank you for sharing such poignant video. I hope this town and it’s people have recovered.
I liked seeing people going to their houses to gather water and blankets for the good of the community. The laughing kids enjoying their food at the end is a symbol for the resiliency of the people.
I wish I knew what they were saying. RIP to the poor helpless people that died. This was so hard to watch. Especially the people running from the water.. so many didn't make it. I couldn't imagine. So many stories of parents holding their children and the wave pulled them from their grasp
I am amazed at the ability of these people to be silent while an official instructs them. This is something wonderful. Each of these people have opinions, but for the good of the others, they keep their mouths shut and digest what he says. Not a single threat of lawsuits, no fights, no hate, just a shared disbelief that this has happened. Such unselfishness is rarely seen in America. Thank you, survivors of this tragedy.
Kathny Rogers watch some tornado videos from the US. You will see people helping others. I don’t know what kind of disaster you have been in, to receive harsh treatment, but when a tornado hit my home, my neighbors were there as soon as it was over to see what they could do to help. When we had huge snow storms in the 1978 and 1979, we shoveled people out of their homes. We brought what food we had to share. When my dad was in a car accident, there was a huge number of people stopped on the side of the road, willing to help. I never heard of anyone in any video of a US disaster threaten to sue or attack or berate someone. I have only seen people whose homes were destroyed to emerge from the rubble to dig with their bare hands to find a neighbor buried next door to them. Look for the good in people. Life can become much brighter that way. 😁.
The Japanese are world class technical experts when it comes to dealing with earthquakes and tsunamis. This event seems to have thrown them a bit of a curve ball and their immediate assessment under-evaluated the power of the quake and resultant tsunami. This town had well engineered defences against a moderate size tsunami and that reliance may have compelled some folks to ignore warnings and stay in their nice warm homes. The Japanese are very resourceful and in order to save lives in the future, they will make the necessary changes from what they've learned here. It's very heartwarming to see this fractured community pull together as a unit and begin to care for one another. This is probably one of the better videos showing a more complete picture. jtk

Thank you!
The people helping each other in the second half of the video is the best part.
Is there any way there is an English translation for this video or a video with English subtitles?

Pink Skies that's what happen to those who they believe in material life.
After 6 years it is still sad to watch. I'm happy though when I see people who had escaped with their animals in tow.

You gave a heartfelt comment but ruined it by putting down Americans. Shame on you.

Very sad every time I see the videos of the tsunami that happened in Japan, I cry! 😭😭😭😭....

Salut buat warga sekitar yg rela membantu warga yg mengungsi akibat tsunami.. Patut di contoh.. 👍👍👍👍💗💗💗💗💗👍👍👍👍
This was the most traumatic event in the 20th century. How did they ever clean all that?! Amazing resilience of people ❤
