It is amazing that Tori says she does not imitate and Karen. She says Karen will never be replaced but she makes a tribute to Karen Carpenter. I think in this particular song she sounds most like Karen and the comparison side by side confirms that. And not only Tori's voice, But the entire production with Jim. she is an audio engineer of music and in 2020 with the lock downs she started singing and doing shorts. her cover of Heart Crazy playing the same guitar as Nancy then switching to a fuzz bass is amazing. i have thousands of records and heard many live bands and she is to much fun.
Actually, the truth is, Tori said herself, she thought she didn't sound like Karen at all, but....................when you're on the inside looking out, much of the time, you're going to think that way. She just happens to love the Carpenters, that's why she does so much of their songs. And by the way, this is her natural voice, what you hear is her.

Hi Shane and Happy New Year! I loved the inclusion of Eduard’s comparison piece. It’s even closer than you can see on this version. He made a second video, right next to this one on his channel where he just synced the beginning on Tori and James’ audio with the Carpenters video and let them play. He did not need to edit at all. Karen was in perfect lip-sync to Tori. Maybe Richard had a premonition 54 years ago and told Karen to be in sync with Tori in the future? 🤷🏻♂️ James did a marvelous job putting this all together! As you saw and commented. Tori in her learning phase started with the 60’s and her first love, The Beatles. She has a lot of Short cover of various Beatles and individual songs from them. Strangely she doesn’t sound like John, Paul, George or even Ringo! Then she moved on to the up’s and discovered Karen and the rest as they say… It’s just how she sounds in her lower register. Add a few Karen inflections and boom, look what we have! Yes, let’s postpone the other Christmas song. How about the song that brought Dan Wesley and Tori together. In February Dan was introduced to Tori via RUclips algorithms and couldn’t believe whet he was seeing and hearing. So on April first he made a reaction/discovery of Tori. Almost an hour loon look into her Carpenters covers and other songs. When he published it Tori spotted it and commented ❤. Later Dan saw an old Carpenters video where they appeared on a Perry Como 1974 Christmas Special. They did a medley together where each sang the other’s hit songs. This had Karen sing one verse of “It’s Impossible.” Dan pondered, what if Carpenters had recorded the entire song? So he did what any inquisitive man with certain knowledge would do. He made a piano track in Karen’s key and sent it to Tori. She responded that it was one of her very favorite songs but since it was a man’s hit couldn’t find music in her key. That started what would become the song linked below. Suddenly would follow about a month later. I hope you enjoy and the Perry show segment is also linked below to see what inspired Dan. Nope, Wings of Pegasus analyzed Tori and We’ve Only Just Begun in March 2024. There were two episodes. Technically it’s pitch correction as AutoTune is a live process.
