This really looks like a very fun place to hang out. The fact that they went with a pool table as a dining table its amazing. How many people would probably op out of this choice even if they wanted to because they must have felt that it was going to look awful and no, theres always a way to integrate the thing you love with your place. I simply adore when people really make the place they live in they're own without following the usual standard boring practices. BRAVO!!
wow, after seeing so many white and light earth tone homes, this is a huge change (in a good way)! so cool! didn't think im gonna like concrete brick wall this much but it looks so good in this setup cuz it's so raw. the toilet on the 2nd floor is cleverly designed but i wonder where they keep a curtain or something to block the window while showering.. i wish i see more of the 1st floor tho.
The sliding frosted glass door does a great job of giving privacy, in the shots you saw, the person was quite close but if they're in the shower/bath, you definitely wouldn't see anything.
It is soooo beautiful! It feels warm and inviting despite the many hard and rough man-made surfaces and has a 70s feel with none of the kitsch retro styling. I live in a 1975 concrete block unit and I would love to replicate some of these ideas - if I ever get to own this rather than rent i will, and it will be imitation as the purest form of flattery. Thanks for sharing the home and thanks for the video - I have missed your content.
You’d think the dark metal and mirror would make things harder, but there is a softness to the space. I’m glad you have got some inspiration from this project, and thank you for the kind words.
I absolutely love how Jean Graham transformed this townhouse! It’s incredible how she maintained the integrity of Craig Rossetti’s original design while making it more functional and suited to Richard and Annie’s lifestyle.
Great video, Simple Dwelling. Looking forward to seeing your next upload from you. I pressed the thumbs up icon on your content. Keep up the amazing work! The way you discussed the balance between dark materials and light in creating atmosphere was fascinating. How do you think this approach influences the overall emotional experience of the residents in such spaces?
Thank you Keyser. Good question, I think what's important for an approach like this is the owners. The owners love entertaining, cooking, pool, and Richard even brews his own beer, so it was all about that Friday night bar feeling. I think their emotional experience is only elevated through his, however, someone else might find this too dark.
One thing I learned from this video is to juxtapose the cheap looking stuff right next to expensive looking stuff. Unfinished wall, right next to expensive glass and very well made LED lighting. Doing that will ensure (or make a point) that the look is intentional, bespoke even. A nice trick.
@@davidsentanu7836 I agree But what I thought of another detail that could balance the costs: The house have mostly no walls So, what they've saved on this they've spent on the "glass wall" on the sides Which is a very nice way to design a house But still, I'm concerned on the isolation of the brick. Isn't worth to save in an unfinished look but then have to spend way more in air conditioning bills (And it's a concern for me, Brazilian. Maybe in mild climates it simply doesn't matter)
it is a beautiful space and home but the video doesn't show very weel every space, corner or general panorama... hope next videos going better... We need to see more details...
I think the main bedroom in the top floor will be problematic soon...especially when the user is elderly and it wilk become retirement home...and I think two of those home become one will be more suitable to be live in and will still be categorize as small home...but its nice design example ❤❤❤
If you are elderly you will need more than a bedroom on the ground floor, if you are in a position not to climb one flight of stairs you shouldn't be living alone, you should be in Adult care either with family or in a care home.
Really elegant and classy, but I couldn't live in such a dark place. Anyway, I like it very much 😊.
The amazing ambiance created with those materials and the light. It is mystical.
So Elegant! The kitchen looks gorgeous. The 2nd fl toilet were smartly designed. Thumbs up simple dwelling for featuring this masterpiece 🙌
Agree, everything is done so intentional and thoughtful.

very moody, industrial, cool! I like it, even though I am typically not a fan of such spaces. This one was done right.
thats so incredible
Agreed!

ethereal
luxurious cement block... luxurious tiny sink in the cupboard.
Where is that gorgeous Mid Century Modern wood and black top credenza from? It's beautiful and I need one in my life!
Here in Brazil, we see these unfinished walls in slums
To make it look so luxurious is an incredible feat, for sure
It definitely helps with the new materials around the existing block work.
@@SimpleDwelling Clockwork?
Didn't quite get it
Block work sorry.

Materiality.
Awfully dark
Who puts a pool table in the kitchen? Everything is so dark and oppressive.
as soon as i hear the word materiality i stop watching. most modern architecture clips don't make it through. this one made it to 1 minute.
