    Andy, for the love of your hard-working family and future, please quit smoking!!! Stick around for your kids, you don't want all the health problems, it's not worth it. I am looking at dealing with throat cancer, smoked for over 20 years, quit 10 years ago. Guess it wasn't soon enough. I'm not blaming my father, but if he never smoked, I never would've started. Do you really want your kids to smoke? There is nothing good about it, and it costs a small fortune. The first two weeks are the worst, then it's easy. Just don't cheat, not even once. Good luck!

    My memory of my dad's first planter was a two row with trip wire. Later, in the early 1960s I worked at John Deere Planter Works in Moline where they were making mostly four row planters. I couldn't believe how complex they were!! Wow, looking at your planter makes me wonder, why.

    The reason they gave you a long wire for each motor is to reduce the voltage drop from the switch. The more current you pull through each wire, the higher the voltage drop will be. The voltage drop across the wire = the current through the wire * resistance of the wire ( V=I*R ). The alternative would be to have one heavier gauge wire. Since the Y-pig tail is short, there will be little voltage drop (i.e. shorter wire equals lower resistance). Hope that explains why they want the pig tail in the tractor.

    You should be able to a check valve and put in them tanks to keep it from transferring from one to another. They might even make an electronic valve that you could open and close from the cab. Then you wouldn’t have to get out to shut valves.

  • @tommeyer4507
    @tommeyer4507 Месяц назад +2

    Andy, if you’re tanks have separate valves for suction and filling, (not sure but looks like it might) you could use two check valves on the suction side, that feeds the pumps. one on each tank and turn off the filling valves and that would stop tanks from transferring on a hill and still allow filling Through fill line.
    Planter looks great I am anxious to see how it works for you.

    Regarding one wire for each motor, keeps the current thru the wire (and associated voltage drop) lower which keeps each motor happy. I have damaged motors due to excessive voltage drop. If they had made the wire gage bigger, one wire could have handled the current from both motors, but they chose two smaller wires. As you say, it is what it is.

      You can use whatever you want to plant your crops with. The new planters are more precise and faster than the antique "trip wire, hill" models, and can place seed more evenly, and apply starter fertilizer more accurately. This new one should allow him to get the seed in the ground in a timely manner, to maximize yield.

    • @FarmingFixingFabricating
