Sir.Lei your channel is indeed underrated. With all of this research and knowledge about goldfishes I’m one of your followers who learns a lot by most of your hard work and dedication to the hobby maximum respect and more power to your channel!
Dear Sir Ablaza, Thank you and thank you for the appreciation and encouraging words. That makes all my hard work worthwhile!! Goldfish is a niche topic on RUclips. I don’t expect a huge number of subs but I know there are some hobbyists/goldfish lovers like you will deeply resonate with my contents. Your comments made my day and earned my pin 📌.
I like cow ranchu i have short body oranda and king bullhead i learned a lot watching your video and just discover a lot of goldfish still dont have in my country philippines
appreciated your open mindedness. Goldfish is a culture symbol but it belongs to the world. I hope more Philippines bred goldfish will come to China and other countries
I am learning a lot from your videos. There aren’t many other channels like yours with in-depth information, cultural background, education, and research. Thanks for your content and hard work! Calico ranchus are definitely my favorite!
Goldfish Corner I keep mine in aquariums, I prefer the side view, smooth curved back, round chubby ranchus. I have 1 calico fantail, 4 Chinese calico ranchus, 1 calico lionchu, and 1 Thai oranda. Looking forward to the Golsfish Palooza in CA later this year again!
Your videos are a wonderful resource to learn about this fascinating fish. I appreciate your dedication and research in creating this informative channel.
Angie, thank you for the encouragement! Yes, it does take lots of effort and time to make these videos. But it has lots of fun. I glad to hear my videos are helpful. Stay tuned.
Great video. Would you Like to make a video about pom pom and buble eyes too? I am curious to know about the history of this two species. Thanks in advance😃
Nattapon, thank you for the feedback. You watched really carefully. My initial thought was to keep the credit to the original fish owners and the goldfish contest. You are right, this may leave some hints to the careful-watcher friends like you 😁. Any question about the answers. Do they make sense to you?🤔
Goldfish Corner they all make sense, the only one I got wrong was the wakin since I don’t see them that often here in Thailand (at least in a standard pet store).
Thanks. I am translating one of old Chinese goldfish books《朱鱼谱》in English. It takes time. Posting my findings here on RUclips is quicker with less effort
These videos are very informative and important. Lots of misinformation in the internet. I always looked for an even distribution of colors in the calicos. Keep up the good work!!!
I have breed calico fish many times from two good calico but end up with a lot of fish with high white and only small amounts other colours . Is it a combination of different coloured fish to get the good calico fish .I have bred fancy goldfish many years thank you .
Wendy, Calico goldfish should be a relative stable gene. I trust your skill. If you have successfully bred them for many years. You got the skill set. Then to move on, you may think to get some higher or more quality fish as your spawn fish, so you have a larger selection pool. Also I am curious about your culling process. To getter quality of goldfish, picky breeders may push their culling rate higher than 90%.
Lina Marlina Hi Lina, welcome to my channel. Watonai is more popular to girls🙂. Jenny from Solid Gold talked about once. Basically a Wakin or Shubunkin with a split tail. Yes, I will talk about it in future. Thank you for suggestion 👍
Hi Lei!! I am Ed from Brazil and just wanted to thank you for you videos! They are truly awesome and packed with solid information!! I have been learning a lot!! That's so generous of you to share all of this knowledge and I truly appreciate the effort and deep research you put into all of your videos! They are truly master classes on Goldfish. I was caught unguarded when I watched the first video and was faced with a quiz at the end!!! Now, I always write down my notes when I watch your videos so I'll be prepared for the test in the end LOL. Love all of your videos but I have to say that the one about the "wen" name origins is truly surprising!! Basically I learned that the Western world just made up the word "wen" for the "head growth" just because it sounds like a Chinese word!! ahahahah But you are so polite, elegant and unjudgemental that you don't make us western people feel like complete idiots!!!!! ahahahahahahahaha
Appreciated your note. I read it line by line. The passion from goldfish hobbyists like you encourages me. You are right, it takes lots of time and effort to make these videos. However, I realized that that once I made them the video/knowledge will stay there for the whole global goldfish community. Life is busy. I plan to make more video. Any suggestions or questions, feel free to email me GoldfishCornerMail@gmail.com
@@GoldfishCorner on that. note, would consider making a video about color genetics? Is there any information on that subject? I come from the cat's world and we can map/test the genetic alleles for them, so I thought that maybe there might be something similar in the goldfish breeding
@@Romeoofbrasil Yes, I planed a series of lectures on Goldfish Genetics. Need time and effort to make them. Thank you for the feedback. I will put this series on my high-priority list.
Very educational video! I prefer the tri color, to me the tri colors are more defined/bold looking, the five colors of calico seem to be less defined and smudgy looking or at least they appear that way in the examples in the video.
Appreciate feedback, mate. The aesthetics standard heavily depends on the local culture. Hobbyists/breeders from different countries will choose different style. Like you said, the emerging tricolor goldfish are on high demand of goldfish export from China. You feedback just verifies this fact. Thank you 👍
Zsa, good point! The grades that I sorted not just from the aesthetics view but also the difficulty of keeping. It does require some ticks and tips to keep ruby red wen and dark blue base color.
@@GoldfishCorner I understand, the goal of breeding is to perfect the bloodline. Perfection is beautiful in it's own way, but beauty can be found in imperfection too. Imperfection is what separates supermodels from other models lol

There are two common methods. One is to use Dimilink X amzn.to/2BNm8dq. The other method is to generally remove the worms out of fish body then use Potassium permanganate dip. 5min in purple color. PP dip is very powerful. Repeat Treatment is needed. Please let me know how it goes.
Thank you so much for your answer... I hope next time you will make video about breeding (cross breeding) various color result or connection of colors : calico, tiger, kirin, tricolor 😊 I like your videos so much...
My Breeds Answers: 1) WAKIN 2) DEME HAMANISHIKI . A Hama Nishiki is already a Oranda and Pearlscale cross, since the classical Chinese Pearlscale does not have a "WEN". This particular one has an extra Telescope fusion with great color. 3) AZUMANISHIKI are Japanese bred calico Orandas 4) HANAFUSA (Japanese Pompom with dorsal fin are from Fantail or Oranda strains, never Ryukin. The Chinese Pompom looks very different, has no dorsal fin and has a Lionhead base of breeding.) 5) BUBBLE- EYE 6) EDONISHIKI are Japanese bred calico Ranchus. 7) SHORTTAIL RYUKIN not calico in my opinon 8) DEMEKIN, A Demekin is a crossbreed itself between any Ryukin variety and any Telescope variety. There are different tail varieties within this crossing, due to both of the original breeds are easily available in different tail varieties- Broadtail, Shorttail, Longtail, Fantail, etc, etc. The one in the picture has a Butterfly Tail, a feature that suits and belongs to the Butterfly Telescope. The classical Butterfly Telescope breed itself does not have a high back. It is my favorite breed and one I breed fondly and often in all colors. Some breeders today are trying to modernise the breed by adding Ryukin blood for an added hump. This will create an all- round Telescope suitable for Topview and Sideview. The resulting fish will look like your example at this number 8. I, however strive to keep the breed pure. There was an occasion where I have bred Butterfly Telescopes to Orandas to make very attractive Butterfly Dragonheads. 9) Phoenix Eggfish , rare and mysterious to me. 10) Tricolored Ranchu, notice the tail is not striped with black, and the lack of other colors. In time the black will fade and a red and white fish will result. When a goldfish is in such a "tricolor" coloration,it's in a phase. Greetings from The Netherlands and I love your videos!

what about eye color? Calicos are generally has black dot eye and both eye generally be same color. is there any qualification about eye color?
Calico is about body color. Not picky on eye color. Red wen will add bonus though

PPM is hard to measure. You just simply use color to tell the posassium permangnate dose. Mix it to purple in the water color
