Millions of people are leaving high taxed, crime ridden Blue states of NY, California, Illinois, PA, Maryland, for safe and prosperous states of Florida and Texas. Stop with emotions and look at the numbers.
Basically it comes down to this: one person's right to own any gun, anytime, anywhere, outweighs two or six or nine or fifteen or 48 people's right to come home alive at the end of the day.
As an Independent who votes Republican, I think there should be red flag laws! If you are mentally unstable and not a danger then perhaps they can get a doctor to say they are not dangerous.
Who determines what is considered dangerous? Will ADHD be on the list? ADD? OCD? Depression? Anxiety? Transgenderism? Gender dysmorphia? Body dysmorphia? Anorexia? Drug use? Addiction? Alcoholism? What about a guy that has 30 guns in a collection, and his liberal neighbor is frightened by it? Will that be enough to get them taken without due process? "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." -Benjamin Franklin You will *feel* better about the gun situation with red flag laws, but will it actually help? Do some research on states that have red flag laws, and you'll find news articles talking about how they're rarely used, or people don't report, or you'll find stories about people getting no-knock warrants and ending up getting killed because they're not expecting intruders at 4am... Hear how he says “property” rather than guns. It is “guns” that are taken not property. Property is a broad term to describe something someone owns, often used to describe someone’s house. It is obviously scary for citizens for their “property” (including their home?) to be taken away from them. It is subtle, and obviously not incorrect, but it’s intentional and weasel words.

You can't legislate your way into a utopia. Look into US gun laws, there are less people that own guns now than back in the 70's-80's, there are more restrictions, background checks didn't start federally until 1998, serial numbers weren't required until the 60's, private sales between citizens are restricted today when they hadn't been in the past. the same weapons being used today have been available for decades, and oftentimes they were easier to purchase for people that would be restricted today. The guns haven't changed, the technology isnt any better, the lethality hasn't increased, but the laws have gotten stricter and mass shootings keep happening. over 90% of public massacres happen in "gun free zones" that were enacted in the late 1990's, and people continue to blame the guns and say "well if you don't want more laws that won't save people, you clearly want dead kids in schools". There is a societal issue that nobody wants to address. If you cared about saving lives, you'd realize that guns are used EVERY YEAR 200,000 times to 2,000,000 times to defend people, compared to 20,000 gun homicides. Registration of all firearms would only serve as a means for the government to eventually confiscate weapons. Look at California, they had mandatory registration and they had MULTIPLE leaks of information, where any criminal was able to see who owned guns, how many guns, and what type of gun. Who does this benefit? If a gun is registered to Jon Doe, and it gets stolen and resold to a criminal in the inner city, where is the benefit? How does that registration help anyone?
@@dsldarklordspaniard6672 Yeah, nothing you just said is correct. Private sales when one of the people is a felon is illegal, so no, in this case that's not any different. Private handgun sales are not treated differently from any other gun almost everywhere. Most guns used in crimes are not stolen, this is a myth pushed by the NRA. They are purchased seemingly legally. The real issue is that these straw purchases and illegal private sales are impossible to track until after the gun is already used, but requiring registration would heavily monitor the former and stamp out the latter. Pistols do not require registration in most states. Registrations means that private sales can be tracked and people who engaged in an illegal private sale can be prosecuted. It also makes tracking down straw purchases substantially easier. Overall, registration would dramatically increase the risk to criminals, while allowing legal owners to keep their guns, despite your fear mongering. In your final example that stolen gun could be returned to the rightful owner it is registered to.

"The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood is a gripping dystopian novel that vividly portrays a world where individual freedoms have been stripped away, making the Second Amendment (2A) incredibly important. Set in the Republic of Gilead, the story paints a chilling picture of a totalitarian society, where women are reduced to the role of reproductive vessels, stripped of their rights, and subject to a brutal regime. In this bleak context, the 2A, which guarantees the right to bear arms, takes on significant importance as it represents a last vestige of individual empowerment and resistance against oppressive forces. The protagonist, Offred, and other characters demonstrate how the possession of firearms can become a means of protection and defiance, a symbol of hope and a potential tool to challenge the oppressive system. Through its harrowing narrative, "The Handmaid's Tale" serves as a cautionary tale, emphasizing the crucial significance of the Second Amendment in safeguarding individual liberties and acting as a potential safeguard against tyrannical regimes seeking to suppress human rights and freedom. As a Republican, I strongly uphold the principles of capitalism, a Republican form of government, and the protection of individual rights through the Bill of Rights. Capitalism fosters economic freedom, innovation, and prosperity, encouraging individual initiative and entrepreneurship. A Republic provides a system of representative governance that safeguards the rights of all citizens and limits excessive government interference. The Bill of Rights is a crucial cornerstone of our Constitution, and as a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, I firmly believe it protects the right of law-abiding citizens to own fully automatic arms, short-barreled rifles (SBR), short-barreled shotguns (SBS), and 40mm firearms. These firearms are essential for self-defense and safeguarding against potential threats. In line with the principles of "stand your ground" and "castle doctrine," I support laws that empower individuals to protect themselves and their loved ones from harm, both within their homes and in public spaces. Regarding education, I advocate for the abolition of public schools, as it allows for greater individualized and diverse educational options. Empowering parents with more control over their children's education can lead to improved outcomes and better preparation for the challenges of the future. Furthermore, I believe in abolishing property taxes as they burden property owners and can undermine true ownership. By eliminating corporate and state income taxes, we foster an environment conducive to economic growth, job creation, and investment. Additionally, I support abolishing the minimum wage, as it interferes with the free market's ability to determine fair wages and can limit employment opportunities for entry-level workers. To ensure responsible fiscal policies, I propose limiting federal income tax usage to the military only and capping it at a maximum rate of 10%. This approach guarantees a strong and well-equipped military while promoting responsible financial management. As a passionate advocate for our military, law enforcement, emergency medical services, and firefighters, I firmly stand behind policies that provide them with the necessary resources and support to keep our communities safe and secure. Moreover, I endorse the responsible exploration and utilization of oil, gas, and nuclear power to meet our energy needs and achieve energy independence. Lastly, while I align with many Republican values, I have reservations about certain decisions made during the Trump administration, such as the 2018 ban on bump-stocks. I believe we can address concerns about gun violence through thoughtful and effective policies without compromising the rights of law-abiding citizens. In conclusion, my commitment to capitalism, a Republican form of government, and the protection of individual rights through the Bill of Rights drives my advocacy for Second Amendment rights, "stand your ground" and "castle doctrine" laws, the abolition of public schools, property taxes, corporate and state income taxes, and the minimum wage. I believe in a strong military and law enforcement, as well as responsible energy policies to ensure a prosperous and secure future for all Americans.

Hear how he says “property” rather than guns. It is “guns” that are taken not property. Property is a broad term to describe something someone owns, often used to describe someone’s house. But that isn't to say there isn't anything we can do. We definitely need MUCH better regulation around guns. I actually DO think they should be treated like cars: Every gun PART should be registered (not just gun, but every part in the gun, just like in a car), require a "key" to unlock the gun (can be accomplished thru Face ID or Fingerprint ID unlock), Require identification for EVERY transfer, including private sales, require "Gun Safety Education" like "Drivers Ed", and require a test be taken before obtaining the license to carry a gun.
Guns save more lives than they take in this country, and obesity kills 300,000 people annually.... Should we ban coca-cola? Sugar? fast food? Spoons?
@@dsldarklordspaniard6672 90% of guns used in crimes are from private sales and straw purchases. Registration would stop both.
@@hobbso8508 uhhh where did you get this statistic from?
private sales are different from illegal sales, and private handgun sales are banned in almost every state (if not all). and straw purchases are already illegal... Most guns used in crime are stolen, and resold illegally, and most guns used in crimes are pistols, which already require registration.
I wish these politicians would be honest and say, "Hey, gun lobby money is WAY more important to me than kids getting killed in schools, so I am going to just say thoughts and prayers."

Florida Republican Rep. Byron Donalds is very ON BRAND with the GOP - Prioritizing property over the safety and lives of children. Specifically the rights of property owners over the rights of children. He made that very clear - repeatedly.
"When people show you who they are, believe them." - Maya Angelou.
Not property. Guns. Guns are made to kill people and animals.
Interesting, I protect my kids with my property. The safety and lives of children would be better protected with a stronger security posture.
The children are being slaughtered in lawless Democrat controlled cities by gangs. Democrat lawlessness isn't a reason to take away my rights.
He acts like the law is going to take every possession the person has, just their guns are taken so they don't pose a harm to others or themselves. While listed as a right to bear arms, that is meant for a militia, which is our military branches, not regular citizens. Shits wild.
If the person is so dangerous why would they only take the guns? Why wouldn't they take every knife and potential murder weapon they own? Why wouldn't they just bypass all that bullshit and lock the person up?
"The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." That says it all so fuck your militia bullshit.
> While listed as a right to bear arms, that is meant for a militia
Wrong, militia part of the 2nd amendment is a "despite" statement.
Individual right unconnected to service in a militia.
Its almost like Leftists enjoy being wrong.😂
More people die from overdoses than gun homicides.
So his solution is just to sit back and wait until another shooting happens and then let the law deal with it
And this guy was nominated umpteen times against Mccarthy for the speakerhip
Yeah, I personally think he should have been house speaker.
No solution. 💯
why does this odd man use the word "property" instead of "GUNS"?
Because anything you own is your property.
These journalists need to push back more. That rep keeps speaking about having to go to court to get your property back. So flippin' what? The people who are dead have no redress whatsoever!
Those people aren't dead because the government didn't take the guns, they are dead because some maniac decided to kill people that day. He didn't need guns to kill those people but that's what he chose to use.
Are you ok if the government takes your car because someone said you are unstable? Is it ok if they take all your silverware and knives out of your kitchen? How about they take away your toothbrush because you brush too hard and they don't want you to choke yourself. Will you still say "so flippin' what" at that point?
Omg, he just said that the right to live isn't in the constitution! Isn't that the whole anti-choice/anti-abortion argument in a nutshell, that the fetus has the right to live?!?!? 😅 Owned by.... Himself 😂
Oh Leah you so clever.
It's in the declaration of independence not the constitution he is correct.
@@amandahitchcock106 sorry if that was confusing... I wasn't contradicting him, just following his logic...
He is correct. The right to live is not in the Constitution.
However, the right to not have your life taken by the government without due process IS in the Constitution. That is what anti-abortion advocates hang their hat on... that by creating a law that legalizes abortion, the rights of the fetus to live is being taken away without due process.
@@rekcusdoo you mean the baby?
This guy is putting property or guns above lives? What happened to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
I live with one of my brothers, and he deals with manic depression. He could handle a gun responsibly most of the time, but if he owned one I would be dead right now because of how he deals with life the rest of the time.
Why is your brother not secured in a mental health facility? Individuals such as that are the real threat, they need to be secured until they are no longer mentally ill. Or they expire.
@@stevestoll3124 There are many people speaking of mental health, but our nation is not implementing any reasonable solutions. You and big man are more of this nation's problem with mental health than individuals dealing with it themselves. Why should this gentleman's brother have to be housed in a mental institution and where are these Institutions?
@@stevestoll3124 He has been on 72-hour holds several times, but as long as he takes his medications his situation is manageable, so he is not eligible for a secured facility. It's just that every few months he starts ruminating on his grievances and acts out. He will conflate a real betrayal from someone else with me dropping some crumbs on the kitchen floor or failing to say "good morning.". My point is that there are a lot of people who are functional most of the time, but they only need to shoot a gun once to cause a tragedy. He doesn't own a gun for now, so I only have to be concerned when he finds solid objects.
@@ladyfingersdippedinmoonlight odd individuals calling for the removal of ones freedoms such as yourself become angry when I use the same logic.
Solutions:
Pass the Safer Schools act vetoed by Democrats in 2022.
National reciprocity
Constitutional carry
Cash bond
DAs charging felony offenders with max sentencing.
Judges sentence max rulings only on felonies.
Let's go after the criminals while giving law abiding citizens there basic human rights back.
He might be dead as well.
Sorry Jake, you're trying to get honest answers out of a bot. He has no ability to respond with anything besides conservative talking points. Whether he actually cares about the issue or not is up for debate, but his desire to remain in the GOP will keep him from saying anything meaningful.
Why doesn't someone buy some billboards in his district showing an assualt rifle with the body count next to it that gets updated. Maybe a tag line of "what number is too much?"
Ex Parte protective orders are common for individuals concerned for their safety. A hearing for the alleged dangerous person is scheduled within a week or two. The process for confiscating a firearm can work the same way..
Risk mitigation does not need to be tied up in courts. That's how people get killed in domestic violence cases. He needs a realty check!
Uncle Byron: he’s like the Gen-Z Tim Scott: same awful ideas, but more savvy with Instagram!
Racist.
Agree.
Keep repeating that one line. Civil forfeiture happens every day by law enforcement.
It all makes good for TV and optics until it happens to one of their kids or love ones!! I'll be curious to know how that conversation will go...
My kids carry firearms legally.
They have possessed firearms since they were 16. They haven't shot anyone.
@@armandhammer2235 Good for u buddy but everyone isn't in your shoes and I say that out of Respect!!
BD is so good at repeating talking points lol 😂 it almost sounds like he knows what he’s talking about… except that he’s spouting lies left n right
So wait until they kill someone then flag them?😮
LOL. Republican madness.
What is your answer to gang violence?? Should we ignore them?
@max headroom So we'll wait for them to shoot you. And if you're in Kentucky, they'll auction off the firearm so someone can shoot the rest of your family with the same gun.
Ok. Sounds like the okie doke to me.
Punish law abiding citizens for the actions of murderous criminals… make that make sense 😳
Law-abiding citizens from ages 18-20 are not legally allowed to buy handguns, per federal law. Are we, therefore, "punishing" the law-abiding citizens in that age group?
We all need to apply common sense to enacting and preserving gun laws.
How about opening back up all the mental health institutions. Seems to me sense they were all closed down no one is getting the help they desperately need and some people choose to do these horrific things. Let’s help with mental illness instead of letting everyone self medicate and deal with issues that need more than 15 minutes with someone who doesn’t give a damn about you because that’s pretty much the apex of mental health help your going to get unless your wealthy.
Easier to ban books I guess.
He is more interested in the protection of the guns than human beings
Protecting right to own a gun = protecting lives.
Smallest estimation of DGUs per year is about 60k cases, which is more than gun deaths even including suicides.
Freedom means it comes with responsibilities why is so valuable needs routine of qualification like a insurance renewal or a Lisense (real estate, doctor or any professional dealing with the public. Lo que es igual no es trampa
He's not even damned to consider infringing on his sacred f...g constitutional rights to save a child's life. 🤬
Notice Jake won't talk about the T Gender mass murderer
Property, property, property… the most precious ‘’property’’ is life
REALLY, you couldn't point out that at least a person can get his guns back, but you can't get your life back!
Fact Check: Rep Byron Donalds just said that the right to life and liberty is not in the US Constitution, but only in the Declaration of Independence. [Fact] The 14th Amendment [Section 1] of the US constitution talks about life and liberty
Thanks for having me, Jake. But I've gotta go, I have a check to cash.
That’s a good argument for simply not allowing certain weapons to be obtained in the first place.
You think banning a certain weapon will help. The problem isn't guns. It's families.
He,s flat out wrong on how red flag laws work.
This guy does not understand what red flags laws actually say.
Most red flag laws require some sort of legal review before guns are taken away and most red flag laws have a mandatory time limit. It either expires or has a mandated review to maintain.
“We want to make sure you get the help that you need,” then why do Republicans keep voting against measures that fund mental health screenings in school?

How do we have so many people like this in public office?!?!😢
Hey Jake, what other constitutional rights are you willing to relinquish to “save lives”? Once we give up one, the others are fair game.
Byron is the man!!!! Good man
This is ridiculous, property over human life, wow😖
Property over people's lives. In other words, they aren't going to do a damn thing.
What works that you would like to implement to save lives?
I bet he doesn't care about all the unarmed black men killed in Florida. Shameful to see a black man talk like this 🤦🏽♀️😢
Children should have the right to go to school and live long enough to come home SAFELY.
They do have that right, if you violate it, you go to prisonor get killed by law enforcement on the spot.
