The fact is we are bullied by the medical profession and we have no answers, so we go with it.
This doctor is wonderful and cares about the patients. That what a real doctor should be.
Because big money is involved, most doctors buy into it and are trained in drugs and not nutrition and lifestyle. They are trapped with their own greed sometimes. It's a tragedy. Thank goodness for this information by these people.

I just wanted to add that high blood pressure can be caused by apnea, caused by chronic allergic rhinitis, and chronic stuffy nose leading to mouth breathing. I know this, as I am living with this at present. I am eating WFBP and I have just started butenkyo breathing method along with adding foods that help lower blood pressure. My bp is coming down with breathing exercises, along with healthy diet and exercise.

I know your post is a bit old but I hope you see this reply. Would you mind sharing more information on how apnea, rhinitis and/or mouth breathing effect HBP? I've thought this has caused my husband's for a really long time. I didn't know how or that it was an actual thing, but the levels of his pressure are just so connected to these things that I just couldn't help but think they were linked.

I developed hypertension from being highly stressed for 1 year in my prior job. I ate way too many sweets as a coping mechanism. I started developing digestive issues and breathing issues. The breathing issue landed me in the hospital but doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with me and dismissed it as anxiety and prescribed me anti anxiety medication of which I never took. I felt like meds would not fix the core issue and I wasn't going to get any help from doctors so all I could do is try to help myself. So I did lots of research and kept leaning towards diet. First, I quit my stressful job. Then I used prune juice to clean my gut out. Then ate an anti-inflammatory diet and drank natural protein drinks with 21 minerals and vitamins. This is what worked for me. After a few months, all of my symptoms went away.

I've had doctors freaking me out about my blood pressure for years. This has been so helpful to me. My blood pressure was 150/90 at age 23 at home. A week later my doctor put me on two meds to bring it down to 110/70. Another doctor wanted to even increase my losartan because of my white coat in the office. She said it was Good for my kidneys and that I would be on medicine the rest of my life. 3 years later I saw Forks over knives, became vegan and found a doctor to take me off my meds because my pulse was very low. I've been off of the meds since then but now and then it gets into the 130s/80s, 140s/90s. I now see I just need to keep up with my healthy eating and not to worry when they're freaking out about my white coat at every doctors visit. Thank you Dr. Mcdougall

I hope you can excercize, eat low salt, low fat home cooked foods, meditate etc because your doctors advocate medicine to lower BP to protect your eyes, kidneys and heart. They are being responsible and giving you their best care. Keeping fat below 50 grams a day will help. All the best to you ❤ I am sure your plant based diet will also help in the long run. Dr. McDougall did point out the damaged, stiff vessels are what lead to high BP. Daily flax meal may help rebuild the vessels to be more stretchy but it doesn't help everyone.

What is a whole plant diet?

    • @k8eekatt
      @k8eekatt Год назад +2

@JenJen0582 Generally speaking, a whole food is something that is less processed. For instance, You wouldn't eat the straw and the grain of a wheat plant, but you could eat the whole grain kernal Most people do not eat the beak feathers or bones of a chicken but they eat the muscles/organs. For the purpose of a whole food diet chicken would not be considered a whole food.I know many people love the organs and the bone broth as a healthy food. In the interests of a whole food plant based diet a chicken would not be included. It's a short hand for eating the most natural unprocessed food. Some people respond well to it. If someone has kidney or liver disease, autoimmune disease, dementia or diabetes, it may be helpful if that food plan lowers inflammation and saturated fats. It is possible to eat a low carb whole food plant based diet but it is a trick to do that and still feel satisfied, with enough protein. Today, my lunch was a dark leafy salad with avocado, saurkraut, hummus, 2 sardines, chia seed pudding made with Hemp milk (no sugar). The sardines are disgusting to me and I am not sure how long I can keep eating them but I have seen many studies that support consumption of oily fish and they are the least toxic from heavy metals in the ocean. If you want to learn more, Laurel's Kitchen is a great old cook book with many vegetarian recipes. I know Dr. McDdougall would not advocate sardines, eggs or milk. He also has a cook book and many recipes that he and his wife developed. They are vegan.

I'm a former 20+ a day coffee and tea drinker. That habit alone went a long way towards ruining my health. I have had to find alternatives. For tea and coffee drinkers looking for non-caffeinated drinks (vs decaffeinated), I've found the following helpful: rooibos tea to replace tea and Teeccino (order online if there are no local stockists) for coffee. I come from a country where we like very strong tea. I use two bags of rooibos - which has a natural sweetness - to make it strong and then add unsweetened soya milk to offset the sweetness. It's the closest thing I've come to a cup of tea without the tea plant. You can also use one bag of red rooibos and one bag of green rooibos to make the brew more astringent, like real tea. Some of the Teeccino flavours approximate to real coffee. I think Java is the closest I have tried, although Teeccino now has many more flavours I have not sampled. Another option might be Carleigh Bodrug's scrappy cooking date coffee, which uses roasted and ground date stones to make a coffee substitute.

Go to the Doctor they WILL find something if you have insurance and a ICD10 code for payment can be justified CHA Ching, they have lots of bills to pay. I know of several people in the last 16 years that went to MDs & some got past gatekeepers to Endocrinologists for 18months flopping around over several Diagnosis and medications to FINALLY after nagging for it got a D3 level check and it was near ZERO or below 20nl/mg then after 18months of taking 50K mcg a week their symptoms faded some went back to work, one woman a LPN with yeast/fungus and sun allergies all over her body took three diflucan at ONCE because she thought it would cure her candida scales and dry skin. I had told her what worked for me, one every two weeks. She apparently thought more is better and threw herself into Kidney failure and a deeper depression quick death, sad because the medical profession badly failed her. Over medicated for over 20 years and very bad diet , social isolation no exercise and a carb addict. She did need a health coach but called me to vent on a regular basis. Just one of 5 or 6 stories I ran into without looking.

I had coffee two hours ago, and have been running around all morning with the cats. I just used the BP cuff (thanks for reinding me that I even have one!): 103/63, pulse 52. I'm almost 59, mostly plant based. In my younger years my BP was fairly low, I'd often get dizzy standing up and almost fall down.

Luckily Dr. Fuhrman recommends considering frozen fruits and veg as being not only frozen fresh but likely have less added chemicals. It's incredibly interesting about vegetable oils - which are very likely the ones used in processed food and baked goods.

I monitor my bp everyday too just to make sure. Now I know my heart condition will heal even though they say it doesn't 😒🙄. They don't know to much of course, I know ppl who's lvh reversed.. also my menstrual cycle came back and my sinus infections I've dealt with since 07 are gone. I'm low carb/ fasting for life..

I'm seven years your junior to the day but I look at least seven years older. To Dr Mcdougall. Why would I want to check blood pressure in the morning when it is highest? 1.02:20., when I'm most interested in how low it will drop down to while resting. Resting pressure tells me my overall circulatory health while marathon pressures tell me nothing.

I had been eating a mostly plant based diet with supplemented collagen and fish oil for about 2 years.
My blood press probably averaged 133/84.
I already ate a lot of legumes and other plant based Whole Foods. Most meals had been very low sodium. Yet recently within the
I recently watched video about adding about 2000 plus mg of potassium to your diet. I have added potatoes, bananas, tomato paste, and pumpkin seeds to supplement my already low salt whole food plant based diet and my blood pressure has been creeping downward to where I’m getting consecutive days where my BP is below 120/80. I do have some fear that my sodium levels may be too low. Lord todays reading we 116/75, yesterday 120/80, day before that 112/73.
I’m on no meds. When I was my BP went too low for me 94/43 and I was almost blacking out.
We’ll so how this goes. Lord have mercy.

I'm on 12.5 Hydrochlorothiazide and I'm over 60. Blood pressure barely coming down and it's been 2 weeks of starting meditation. Went through crazy side effects...headache,stomach ache, not feeling right. I've read this medication will raise my sugar and cholesterol. How likely is this? That would cause me to need more meds. I want to stop this medication and continue to watch my diet and do exercise as I've been doing without meds. Blood pressure usually 160 over 80.

I had been on amlodipine since 2008. I also have white coat syndrome-especially at the dentist. But in 2021, working out, got on a better diet and still on amlodipine. My BP was in the 80/50s. When it went down to 75/48, I got nervous and drank 2 cups of coffee! 😂 Since then I experimented and now have stopped the meds, but still have a tendency toward higher blood pressure and like some have said have had to deal with healthcare professionals “freaking out.” My BP is usually elevated at the dentist even if normal 5 minutes earlier taking my BO in the car. It was also the same level of elevation when I was on meds. My goal now is to get a normal BP, say 120ish/80ish at the dentist. I will follow Dr McDougall’s advice.
