Bad Religion really should record this song properly and release it on an album, or even just release it as a stand alone single. It’s too good to just leave on the shelf.
Bad Religion Lyrics "Fanatics" There's a lot of misdirection, and planned disparity And prescriptions for protecting our benevolent creed And there's also a lack of judgement, and various shades of gray But a lot people think that theirs is the only way I will never be one, I see the other side A false sense of community, a bogus sense of pride Stagnation of purpose, corrosion of the mind A lingering obession, a sighted type of blind I don't want to be so static Life and death are far too erratic I don't want to be a fanatic They focus on hereafter, whatever that may be Life is not considered in terms of quality They say "if you don't believe this, then you'll be sorry when You are dead and buried, and who will save you then?" I do not believe this, it's perposterous and vain A false sense of community, a life of endless shame Stagnation of purpose, corrosion of the mind A lingering obsession, a sighted type of blind There is a place in my mind where I know I am right, But I'm sure everyone else has their own insight Who are the fanatics, you can see it in their eyes They run around and preach about the things that they despise And they are desperate for endorsement, for you to join their side Your freedom, hopes, and dignity can all be left behind I don't want to be so static Life and death are far too erratic I don't want to be a fanatic Blind conviction, insistence, unmitigated [x3] Thanks to NIIBACO for adding these lyrics
It sounds like the template for Tiny Voices in some of the vocal sections, I can see why they didn't include it. Hell to really have the real whole STF you have to buy the Japanese version which has 17 tracks (3 more after the re-recording of 21st century digital boy). But that solo rocks, I love the sound of the guitar on that demo (Tested demo comes from this session too it seems).
What a great demo! Wish it had been made into a full release, that STF sound is simply unmatched. I don't really know why that album sounds so distinct, but it does.
It's the only one of their albums where the guitars/bass are tuned down a half step from normal tuning. In concert they always play half step lower so they don't have to sing as high and strain their voices as much. But for some reason all their albums are in normal E tuning except for Stranger Than Fiction.
MY TOP TEN ALBUMS OF ALL TIME 1- BAD RELIGION "Stranger than fiction" 2- BAD RELIGION "Stranger than fiction" 3- BAD RELIGION "Stranger than fiction" 4- BAD RELIGION "Stranger than fiction" 5- BAD RELIGION "Stranger than fiction" 6- BAD RELIGION "Stranger than fiction" 7- BAD RELIGION "Stranger than fiction" 8- BAD RELIGION "Stranger than fiction" 9- BAD RELIGION "Stranger than fiction" 10- BAD RELIGION "Stranger than fiction"
Don't ask, don't tell. Be sure to check out the other demos on our channel; there are more unreleased songs that were never turned into actually BR songs.
This is a pretty lame Bad Religion song. Yeah, it's just a demo, but it sounds like it could be given some keyboards and fit in just fine on "Into the Unknown." Greg's voice is almost too monotone to endure. Abysmal.
most songs start out sounding different from the finished article, have you listened to the demo for no control?... also, I dont think this is like into the unknown at all - the demo for no control is...
+Antidisestablishmentarianism dude this song is dope. listen to it again and appreciate the lyrics at least if the awesome music isn't good enough for you.

THIS SONG IS TOO GOOD TO NOT BE ON AN ALBUM! :((
the best of all the demos I've heard
niceeeeeee, estoy aqui el 14/06/24 awesome sound. recien los conozco.
Saludos desde Argentina.
I was today years old when I first heard this song 😮😮😮
You won't find it on any album since it's a demo.
They really should have released this song on the Stranger Than Fiction Album. Such a shame.

I get strong “What are we standing for” vibes from this one
B sides and outtakes are always a nice surprise if you love BR
As with most Bad Religion songs, even the Demo's age like fine wine.
Wow I’ve been listening to these guys for 30 years and never heard this one

I thought I had heard them all... TY!
Good Fuckin' Song!!!! It would be so BITCHIN' if BR reissued STF with ALL the outtakes in '24 as a 30th anniversary STF deluxe package.
it's so awesome to hear this STF b-side uncovered after all these years. takes me back to that era.
How many years back ?
Television was a good song, but this song is fucking amazing.
Sure, but TV is a nice crossover with Rancid for the time
Sounds like it was supposed to be on Recipe for Hate
What a great song.
The lyrics are also superlative, as is the case with every song of theirs during this era.
Wow what the fuck is this hidden gem and how did you find this wow I really thought I knew every track bad religion ever put out
Don't ask, don't tell.
Be sure to check out the other demos on our channel; there are more unreleased songs that were never turned into actually BR songs.
Loves - for real, you gave me clarity when I was a mess. I revere you as good. Always.
Btw, they relegated this fine song for Television... wtf?
Television is by far a better song.
@@melchizedekful good one
This one is infinite better than television.
I like Television, but I'm a sucker for Tim's voice, so...
I think this is a far better written song than television
A Good Bad Religion song with that STF sound.
Wow. I wonder why it didn't make it to STF. Bass line kinda "off" reminds me of some Recipe for Hate stuff.
Amazing
yes, they are.
Indeed. STF has five or so really awesome b-sides that could have been on the cd.
Much appreciation for this post!
Thank you for posting! Killer tune!
As much as I love BR , I think they made some bad choices in terms of what to leave off the album IE Markovian Process and Leaders And Followers .
Was this song ever on any of their CD's? 'Cause I have both versions of Stranger Than Fiction and neither of them have it
I AM A FANATIC OF BAD RELIGION.
Where did you get these demo songs?
I can't believe they had the audacity to take this off the album for the Television track😒
I don't even like Rancid.
You should, cuz they're good to
ooow man :D
what about mediocrity and news from the front? aren't those STF b-sides?
Man :( where can I find these relics? D:
i love television. but i'm a sucker for Rancid so..
dat solo D:
nice. bet thats brett
in the case of leaders and followers, it sounds too much like individual imo.
3=7x/7y=7(20)/7(10)=140/70=2
3(1)+2(1)=5 Believe that
-Anti-Media Person
Seriously? Shit, it's a good track too
I don't wanna be a Clamato(c) addict.
television had tim armstrong on it that song is fuckin awesome.
why are the studio outtakes from this album better than the actual album tracks?
mega brando this is not even a studio outtake. It's just a home/demo-recording by Greg.
+mega brando because its raw and punks like that kind of sound
Too much refinement and overproduction in the final album result, like many popularish punk songs. (WHAT? POPULARISH? yep)
This is a pretty lame Bad Religion song.
Yeah, it's just a demo, but it sounds like it could be given some keyboards and fit in just fine on "Into the Unknown."
Greg's voice is almost too monotone to endure.
Abysmal.
