Susanna Hoffs is now 60+. Her voice is aces and she is stlll gorgeous. There are numerous videos of her singing Eternal Flame live as late as last year and she's a goddess.
The Go-Go’s and The Bangles were THE female bands of the time. Eternal Flame is not really indicative of their usual sound; however, a deservingly huge hit though. “Manic Monday”, “Hero Takes a Fall”, their covers of “Hazy Shade of Winter” and “Going Down to Liverpool”, and album track “Dover Beach”.
Someone who gets the Bangles!
Dover Beach is the best. But if you want to do a single, Hero Takes A Fall or If She Knew What She Wants.
Definitely Hazy Shade of Winter, he’d love this!!!
The Bangles were somewhat Beatlesque in their song styles. All four members took turns on lead vocals although Susanna Hoffs was the "lead singer."
Hoffs and lead guitarist Vicki Peterson co wrote a fair number of the group's songs.
Bassist Michael Steele had some good songs including "September Gurls."
Man, everyone had a crush on Susannah Hoffs in the 80s - even Prince. He wrote "Manic Monday" for them, which reached number 2 on the charts, behind "Kiss" by...Prince. It's a must listen if you haven't heard it. But there are other gems as well: If She Knew What She Wants, In Your Room, Hero Takes A Fall... At heart they were huge Beatles fans, and their music often had a 60s tinge, with clean guitars and plenty of harmony vocals - and all four of them sang both lead and backing vocals.
Still have a crush on her, frankly.
I am guilty too... some things you just can't fight...
There’s such a sweet intimacy to her vocals here, I think that’s what moves me about this song
Yeah one of my favourite voices of all time pure
This is one of the reasons why the 80s still rules.
The other members of the Bangles are beautiful, but Susanna is a goddess.
Seriously, in a sea of perfect 10’s, she’s a 1000 😂
You got that right always fancied her a beautiful woman
I totally agree. I’ve loved her since I met her in 1985.
She is 3 months older than me, but she looks 20 yrs younger
@@canadian1677 she is about 20 years older than me, and looks 10 years younger than me too. If we were ever walking together on the street, people would assume that I am kidnapping her.
Hazy Shade of Winter much better showcases all the group's voices. Very good song. The Bangles do have a few bangers.
I second Hazy Shade of Winter. It's a cover - but they ROCK it out!! Manic Monday as well is a must listen. And Eternal Flame of course is one of there BEST. Thanks for this.
Yes. Hazy Shade. ✔
Hazy Shade of Winter is a timeless masterpiece
@@A808M You are correct.2022 & still makes me cry.
@@jeanmarienadal7268 the harmonies give me ASMR feels!
Yep. Even Paul Simon said he liked their cover.
Still one of my favourite songs susannas voice is just so sweet and relaxing to listen to 😴😴
This is actually the song that broke the Bangles back. It's the first time in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 Chart where a #1 song from a band caused it's break-up.
The other 3 girls felt that in all their prior songs they had equal parts to contribute but on the record and the video, you mostly see Susanna.
Susanna admitted that she was not aware that the powers around the group was pushing her to the front (ala The Supremes became Diana Ross & The Supremes).
If you want to hear a singer that has perfect pitch and a beautiful voice, check out Glennis Grace when she was on "AGT." Listen to her audition first to see who the judges compared her to (the song she sings is a dead giveaway, then I implore you to listen to song she did in the finals, a cover of Snow Patrol's (and then Leonna Lewis) "Run." She did NOT even make top 5 and I still count her performance of that song the best EVER in the 15 years of AGT!!
I was 15 when this album came out and my teenage crush on Susanna Hoffs was so strong that I can still remember how I felt back then whenever I hear her sing.
This song was played everywhere all day long for months so it grew on you
The Bangles are all over the map. Beautiful ballads, pop earworms, rockers. Wonderful vocals and harmonies. ... Sex appeal for days. ... And they were an actual band. They weren't the instrumentalists and songwriters that Band-Maid are, but they were a really good band.
It's a sweet romantic song, i don't think it's supposed to blow people away, but to evoke a certain kind of feeling especially if you relate to the lyrics, definitely an 80's classic.
This is a good song, I've always liked it, the acoustic version is phenomenal
I know this sounds weird but this reminds me of my mam who passed away in 2018 as she loved this song thank you for doing this reaction
An awesome song! How can you not love this?
Another good one by The Bangles is "Manic Monday".
This song always brings a tear to my eye. Thanks for reacting!😀🌞
Susanna Hoffs brought all the boys to the yard before it was even a thing 😉 ☺.
Hazy Shade of Winter, Be With You, Hero Takes a Fall, Watching the Sky for the other side of The Bangles.
A song and a band I will never forget.
This is one of my favorite ballads of all time
One of the best songs of all the times, sure !!! ❤
One of my kareoke songs! I saw them LIVE opening for Cyndi Lauper in Montreal...
Fun fact: I learned English by hearing some Bangles songs cause they have a very clear sound and they’re easy to understand and also easy to imitate the pronunciation
Now this is a great song and I haven’t heard it in years, Thanks
The Bangles must hear: Hero takes a Fall, *Going Down to Liverpool (both 1984), Be With You, *(Hazy Shade of Winter (1987), Walk Like An Egyptian (1986), *Manic Monday (written by Prince 1986), Something That You Said (possibly the prettiest pop sing every written).
Very cool all female band. I think you would absolutely love their cover & video for Hazy Shade of Winter. The lead guitarist & drummer are actually sisters. 🙂
this is like one of the quintessential late 80’s junior high school slow dance songs.
Susanna Hoffs 😍 I think she’s 60 now but still love her
Actually, she's 65.
"Something that you said". It a nice ballad. The same lead singer singing. Prob their last single in the 00s.
My very first crush because of this song
I am new here and stunned... How could you not be completely in love?? To each its own
Susanna is ageless. She is just as beautiful at 64 as she was in this video.
Manic Monday
Hazy Shade of Winter
Give those a shot.
Yeah they were great - Especially exploded when Prince wrote "Manic Monday" for them. Or gave them the rights - he was involved in some way. And the rest was history with them - "Walk like an Egyptian" was mega hit.
So much memories…. I was at school when this song was famose❤
The Bangles are a childhood fave. ❤️
Check out some female 80's metal.
"Lee Aaron - Metal Queen" and "Warlock - Fight For Rock". For example.
Beautiful 🎼❤️
My Recommendations from me to you and Check Out Going Down To Liverpool, A Hazy Shade Of Winter, Hero Takes A Fall, In Your Room, If She Knew What She Wants, In A Different Light, Complicated Girl and September Girl, Walking Down Your Street Anna Lee (Sweetheart Of The Sun), Tear Of Your Own Head (It's A Doll Revolution) and also Where Were You When I Needed You ,Dover Beach
They had some bangers too. In your room, manic Monday, hazy shade of winter, if she knew what she wants, ect. Really good band.
Live walk like Egyptians is brilliant
Supertramp - Hide in Your Shell / The Logical Song
Paul Simon - American Tune
Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water
BeeGees - This is Just Where I Came In
Procul Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale
Bruce Springsteen - The River
TOTO - Africa
Steeleye Span / Maddy Pryor - Somewhere Along the Road
Genesis - Entangled / Mad Man Moon
...
Knew this song.. but when I see this scene in season 9 of How I met your Mother serie, this become a masterpiece to me. Tx 🖐️
Legends ❤️
The best car ad ever...:)
Eternal Flame is my favorite super ballad of all time. On a scale of 1 to 10, Eternal Flame scores 1 million
Bangles - in your room
Legend song. Good job bro.
My all time favorite
Their songs are mostly rocky, edgy numbers. You might want to check more from them, Anton.
This was a very, very big hit in 1989.
Inspired by a visit to Graceland and the flame on Elvis' grave
Referring back to my earlier comment, you may want to watch them perform Return Post live. Vickie Peterson their lead guitarist sings this one and you can hear how good their harmony was live. Micki Steel their bass guitarist was originally with the Runaways. m.ruclips.net/video/piChEMYdOVQ/видео.html
Sending well wishes from Oregon 🌲
Susanna Hoffs - Unconditional love
You should check out videos of them playing live. There are a series from a concert they did in Pittsburgh posted by someone named Pretzel Farmer.
OK. I love this song since ever. I mean... whoa.
Thank you :)
I've heard many songs that were ok on first listen and then after a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th listen it really starts to sink in. I've wound up loving many songs that were only ok on first listen.
You need to listen to hazy shades of winter by the Bangles!
This song beat Roxette fading like a flower in the US fading like a flower reached #2 on billboard top 100 and eternal flame was #1 at the time
I just want to thank you for not doing "Walk Like an Egyptian" lol! I kid, fun song...but it just drove me nuts from radio overkill 😉
They do a GREAT version of "Hazy Shade of Winter" that I'd recommend you check out! Great reaction! ✌❤
Hazy Shade Of Winter is a slappin' remake.
Susanna Hoffs ooh lala
Ah lovely...thankyou xx
Gossip - Heavy Cross. Beth Ditto lead singer was featured as "the coolest person in the world" by NME magazine. A female powerhouse and the single was their biggest Hit....an Arkansas girl with a littel punk edge. Her band is amazing too. The song is quite incredible and I think it would impress you and featuring someone a little less known would be a nice mix with all of the quite famous artists that are usually featured.
Also her spin on a cover of Careless Whisper (here on RUclips) from her BBC1 Radio broadcast is epic too.
"Heavy Cross" is a great song.
And standing in the way of control
Their cover of "Hazy Shade of Winter" is amazing
I ❤️ this song!!
Walk like an Egyptian a good song
Manic Monday is a very pop song written by Prince. I think you’ll like it.
Dang.. usually I like people to hear their Rocky stuff before their obligatory 80s ballad.
Hazy Shade of Winter is my favorite.
Walk Like an Egyptian everyone is pretty familiar with. There is a German version by my favorite band Die Ärzte. Love both of them.
🌬🕯
Tis son is just to play in the car, while you kiss with your beloved one.
their version of Hazy Shade of winter is excellent
Great song choice. They're music is awesome. Hazy Shade of Winter from the movie Less Than Zero next, please.
AS just about everyone has mentioned in the comments you really should listen to " Hazy Shade of Winter " - it's a cover but much more typical of their work
I always thought this was their best song. Hazy Shade of Winter is great and was another big hit for them although it's a cover. The one they are probably most known for is the more pop-like Manic Monday; it is a fun song, but not their best (IMO). I love it when you react to 70's and 80's tunes!
Essa música é linda
I'm ashamed to say that I only discovered this song from Vampire Diaries a character Caroline was sang this song. This song is good. 👍
Aboot a big shoot oot
To me, some of the music on this video (the one of Eternal Flame) sounds slightly warped...kind of like a tape playing too slowly or something. Does it sound like that to anyone else? I would encourage you to listen to a non-video version of it and see what you think.
Great song. If only it hadn’t taken the #1 spot from Roxette’s Fading like a Flower. Both songs were great and deserved the honour
how about "love is all around", by Wet Wet Wet?
@ Arc Vision Reactions Now I'm not just imagining somehow am I? That audio is distorted in some places right? I have a copy in my library that sounds exactly the same with what I perceive as distortion and this video sounds just like it.
Hehe…you’re so funny! I’d love to support and join discord sp?, however, I was hacked and leary of joining things at this time.:( With that being said. Hope you entertain my inquiry:)
I’d LOVE some John Denver! 🏔 Annie’s song, Take me Home Country Roads, Follow Me, For You, My Sweet Lady…you know😝, any of the above:)
Hazy Shade of Winter will do it for you. Promise.
Please try their Manic Monday;)
"Manic Monday". I predict you will like that track. The are generally more upbeat The Bangles.
You should take a liste to Mel & Kim Respectable
Try "hold on" wilson phillips
Please react to Bjork, she is amazing!!
I'm so confused because I'm a million percent sure you have done reaction to this before. I remember being a bit sad that you didn't feel it. Like literally word for word of your thoughts at the end I remembered.
This went up in the private playlist a few months ago :)
@@antonreacts oh thank the lord because I genuinely thought I was losing my mind 😂🤣 thanks for the love and response ♥️
wtf susanna you and grace slick filthy gorgeous!!
First time??? Oh, come on!
Totally off subject you should try a Slade song…Cum on Feel the Noize which was covered by Quiet Riot. Kiss Def Leopard, Poison and Oasis are but a few who cite them as a huge influence
Ask do a great cover of the Prince song Manic Monday which was a huge hit in the uk…unsure about the usa
Manic Monday was a huge hit here in the States too. Peaked at #2 on The Billboard charts.
I don’t care if you like them l do.
Please react to Dave Gahan solo song called - Always On My Mind
I had such a crush on Sussanah Hoff and I remember when I read that The Bangles broke up (the 1st time) I dropped to my knees in front of everyone and cried out "Who's gonna sing Eternal Flame now"?
How many GUYS HAD IT BAD for Suzanna
Micki Steele is very beautiful and the most beautiful and the most talented among them. I watched their old songs without Micki's backup voice, it was terrible. Also, this song is made beautiful by the backup voices (Micki, Vicki, and Debbie) I actually find hoffs' voice sticking out and not that good in the ear. It is kind of screechy so yes, the backup singers made this song beautiful more. I actually always forward this song to Micki's appearance: 1:48, 2:40, 3:56, and 4:30. She is soooo beautiful! I have never seen a red-haired woman as beautiful as her. None even up to now!
Anyway, we love and miss you Micki Steele! You are the red-haired Goddess of beauty! I like your big, sweet, and beautiful voice. Wherever you are, I hope that you are enjoying your life and taking care of yourself.
I absolutely agree. Micki Steele was my favorite of the group...talent and beauty.
