Grids are NEVER cheating! Artists have used them since the Renaissance to do perspective, and to expand sketches into full size works. Planning is a plus, not a sin! 😉

I love your work and your paints, but it’s how you share your stories of all the mishaps and doubts that you go through- that I go through, that make such an impact when I doubt myself, and wonder if I’m good enough to do more.
So thank you very much for sharing what you experience 🤩💕

I’m an artist in a different medium and I find it interesting how we always get imposter syndrome. Especially if we do something really different from the norm we ask why is mine so weird? Am I doing everything wrong? Am I even a “real” artist? Especially when we aren’t these serious types that hang around in austere galleries.
All I’ve seen in my life proves that “real” artists all go through these struggles, but that when we’re working on something we love and are excited about, all those doubts recede. Because what we’re doing is so much fun!!!

This turned out beautiful! I think it’s very cool that you’ve continued to work on mastering the blending. It must feel good as you crack the code! And so helpful to be able to guide other people. I think you discovered a couple big keys… using smaller brushes sometimes and much less paint. If you think about the paint, at the edges you need half as much of each color, or less, to allow the colors to mix, or to let a base color peek through… if there is too much paint, there’s just nowhere to go with it, without just obliterating whatever is beneath or creating harder edges. I love the colors in this piece too!

      @DebisDesignDiary  2 года назад +1

Thank you Angela :) yes it's very interesting how the amount of paint matters. It seems like more paint at the start, and then tiny amounts for the finishing details is key : )

Thanks for sharing! It turned out lovely as most of your pieces do in the end!
My tips on how to shift the artist struggle is to not always have a picture or an outcome in mind but to just let it become what’s inside of you as you mesh with the architecture of the piece of furniture.
It can be frustrating when we have a preset image of what we are trying to make something look like so we get caught up in mechanics & techniques.
There is a time for learning & trying art techniques but there is also a mode of just connecting with a piece & letting it direct you into what you & it feel it should become.
Maybe try it with only a general color scheme in mind & just see what happens!

    • @crystalneel748

@@DebisDesignDiary you can do it too!
You’re putting pressure on yourself to recreate an image but you are talented enough to create & not just recreate ya know?!
Don’t think~feel it~just paint a base coat then stand back & look at it~then just see what needs what next…& repeat.
Just Trust your creative inner self!
      👩🏻‍🎨🎨
It’s just paint right?~if you put something that isn’t making you feel right then put something else.

Debi I absolutely love your paint! But, I for the life of me I don't know what I am doing wrong. I put on my base coat. I wait - 1 day, 2 days and try the next coat to blend. It always pulls the base coat and I mess up. Maybe I press too hard. I don't know. I guess just keep on trying. I have canvas' for all my grandkids and they paint with your paint. I love a pic my granddaughter did of a palm tree and her sunset behind it. She hasn't finished and then I will post for you to see. She is 5.

My guess would be without actually watching you paint is that you are pressing too hard if you watch this video you will see that I am using a very light touch with the brush. Also the water bottle helps with the second coat, if your brush starts to drag that’s when you will see the pulling up of the bottom coat. Because our paint is so different than most other paints a few adjustments will help you have success. I would also suggest using a brush that has synthetic soft bristles. Once you get used to it it becomes second nature. If you would like more help you can join the Facebook group we have where you can post video clips of what’s happening that will help me help you troubleshoot Sheri ❤️
