Thank you for tuning in!! I watched the video the other night. Please comment any questions you have on any of the videos:) I try to answer a lot of them
@@Helmsburgsawmill you did a great job getting the major parts. If you got everything it would be 3 hours plus or more. Alignment is a pain especially when you have multiple Axis to contend with. Great video 👍
Great video. Looks like a tedious process to get everything cutting the way you want. I hate working on equipment. 😂 Lots of clear BF in that big puppy. Nice
Hi Ian. Thanks for sharing the fixings of the sawmill. I completely understand. Not getting all " fixings" in the video. Great to see the sawmill up & running. Have a good Sunday afternoon Ian, Dad, & family. 🥰🙂😉👍❤️💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I didn't realize you and Clint of C & C Equipment were neighbors. I have followed his channel since it began. The other day he drove by your location, the sawmill, being a neighbor of his second and new location. We have operated a protable Lucas swing blade sawmill since the early 2000's at our location primarily for our own lumber and cut a wide varriety of both hard and softwoods for local customers. We are primarily farmers, not sawmillers. Produce hay, hazlenuts, beef and performance horses. We also operate our own forest management areas for timber, primarily Douglas Fir, Coastal Redwood, broad leaf maple, alder, white oak and western ash. We have operated and owned a variety of sawmills over the years, including very old style circular mills, so I personally really enjoy your operation, Nick, North West Farmer (Oregon)
Yes I watched his video!:) I loved reading your comment. My family has known the Chitwood’s for a while. I appreciate you checking out my channel! It’s already changed and grown a lot in just a year
There may have been some cursing involved off camera🤦♂️ I myself love God and know some church goers are going to be watching! So I want it to be family friendly:) thank you and God Bless!
Ian you aren’t planning on making kids since your sack has been destroyed😮😅 Its called a chain fall and it connect overhead to the building steel Saves your nuts when lifting heavy things
Great video today, a bit of everything with good explanations. Clint over at C&C Equipment gave you a shout out on his channel so you may be getting new subs headed your way!
I watched his video last night!! Thank you for taking his recommendation:) I’m trying to offer unique content! Once my subscriber count is high. I can focus solely on the videos! Comment as much as you’d like
Good question. When you can, re-watch the top saw cuts. That line you see deviates all the way across! It’s not a top saw miss alignment. If you can imagine, the top of the bottom saw, kind swims on that line like a dorsal fin. When I slow my feed rate down, the top of the bottom saw won’t go in quite as far and that line disappears. So it has brand new guts. I’m going to have to adjust my operating. Before I was having it cut with that goobered up shaft. That’s what I was adjusted to:)
That’s a good question. It just depends lol. Mainly on the logger or person sending in the logs. We’ve cut certain loggers off before because they’ve sent in whole bunk loads of logs with metal in them
@@Myrtuscommunis yes it survives most metal unscathed! The teeth absorb the damage. Telephone pole insulator, instant saw wreck. Large enough metal, yes, instant saw wreck.
I appreciate that Jim! I already got a parcel of footage today for a video. I’m getting more video tomorrow:) More are coming soon. There’s a lot of sawing to do😳
Great job on the bearing replacement. It looks like that u guys got everything lined up square and true as the saw is running perfectly with no heat marks or wobble.
Thank you!! And like I mentioned. There was a little trial and error. I did a view logs first. Adjusting the lead a little each time. I had a little wobble on my first two logs, and my cants were just a little different on each end. It got straightened out well🫡
Well lets see. An old millwright like me could say a lot about all this. Bottom line, you got it done. Like your video's. It's kinda fun watching you work your behind off. You'll learn the easy way as life goe's on. Keep on SAWING and Videoing !!!
Clint from C&C sent me over .
Thank you for tuning in!! I watched the video the other night. Please comment any questions you have on any of the videos:) I try to answer a lot of them
Enjoying your channel and viewing from east central Alberta, Canada. Blessings!
Thank you for commenting! Blessings from Indiana!!
Poplar is a favorite!
Clinton Sent me over.
I saw where he drove by and mentioned it!! I made sure to thank him. I appreciate you checking the channel out!
Great video showing what it takes to put the head saw back together 😊
At least as much as I could video off! I didn’t get it all. But I tried to get enough to have it make sense

We’re up and running!!
Don’t forget to like the video:)

I prolly would’ve done that log in fewer moves😳 However I was just glad to be running and cutting😂
Found ya from c&c
Thank you for checking in sir:) I watched it just the other night
good to see you haven't lost your touch
👍🙋♀️
26:17 How much does the saw blade weigh❓️
Did you have to calibrate the cut settings to the saw blade to get accurate thickness boards?
Yes I sure do!

You do the same sir!! I appreciate it

I noticed that😂 I watched the video! I made sure to thank him
I've been here for a minute but I had no idea you and C&C equipment were in the same town. The world is smaller than we realize
Yes haha. Just right down the road in an extremely small town! It’s an area for doing things though
I would love some of that rainbow poplar for a guitar body!
We still have it!! Where you from buddy?
That was fascinating! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for commenting!! There will be plenty more to come
How much did the entire assembly weigh?
Shew I’m not quite sure. That wheel weighed more than anything did.
great job beautiful lumber n sawing ty
You’re welcome!! The meat and potatoes is back:)
Here on recommendation from Clint @ C&C. Lots of videos to watch! Liked👍. Subscribed👍. Comment👍

Great machine! 👍
How often do you saw in metal, that was hidden in the wood?
That’s a good question. It just depends lol. Mainly on the logger or person sending in the logs. We’ve cut certain loggers off before because they’ve sent in whole bunk loads of logs with metal in them
Can the saw blade survive a cut into metal? Or does it need to be replaced afterwards?
@@Myrtuscommunis yes it survives most metal unscathed! The teeth absorb the damage. Telephone pole insulator, instant saw wreck. Large enough metal, yes, instant saw wreck.
Man, would I love some full width boards off big greenheart poplare like that one especially if there is rainbow in it.
Save the old pillow block bearings. People order by shaft diameter and bolt arrangement, but forget about block height.
I'm not used to seeing so much sawdust . . . did something recently change?
Have you ever seen radiata pine before? We used to mill a ton of it for molding and such, it’s really nice stuff imo.
Your poplar is a MUCH better grade than the stuff I have here in NH. It is so nasty I drop it and let it rot to open the wood lot for other species.
How many teeth are on the blade
48 on this blade, and 52 on the F pattern saw
@@Helmsburgsawmill thank you
What is h.p rating of those electric motors
It's great to have you back sawing ,I look forward to the videos
