I don't know how in d2r mecanics is but back as a young player, I play frozen orb and chain lightning soc. I use also . thunder storm. When the orb is in cold down , I switch to chain ligthning. When chain is in cold down, I switch to the ord. It was a very interresting built I had back in the day

Hydra orb is much easier. Nova orb would be about the same powerlevel, just a different build. Lightning is the one that falls off hard in hell. You can do anything you want with the other 2 skill trees and be fine
Im surprised you didnt find some nicer stuff in that time.. Honestly though I'm just now trying my first char. in offline. I tried 20 years ago but always just played online. I'm in act 2 nightmare. soooo different.. what do you think is better though??!!!??!!?
I prefer single player by a lot. Hardcore and lag don't go together at all. I started online but went to offline when everyone from the clan I was in moved on and I never went back. The gear was really sad on this one for sure. Upgrading to bloodfist and a triple diamond shield in hell does not feel nice haha. Good luck on the playthrough!
do you play on p8 frequently? i was under the impression you did p8 for all runs the entire time til i noticed you mentioned swapping a few times. i'm a returning player and have been playing on players 8 and struggling a bit haha
Not really. I only use higher player counts when I need to farm levels. A lot of people seem to think I'm always on p8 though. (I get comments about it at least a few times a week) Don't really know why though I've never implied I am as far as I know. What part are you struggling with?

Then i got overconfident and teleported into some zealots on act 3 nightmare and got insta killed. So user error is what i'm struggling with. Thanks for the response!
@@thenuclearrabbit Idea for walkthrough from me: Try Holy Fire paladin with Raven Claw unique bow (adds Exploding Arrow), or other missile weapons with Exploding Arrow (Demon Machine or Kuko Shakaku), though Raven Claw is more than enough. It basically turns your paladin into sorc with fire ball but with 0 mana cost and huge fire damage. Then add Holy Freeze on switch for immunes (just get fast 4 socketed bow with 3x Eth to get -75% monster's defense and 1x Nef for knockback). Also, make socket in Raven Claw and I recommend to put Nef rune for knockback. So, it looks like it: Holy Fire (maxed), Fire Resist (maxed), Salvation (maxed), Holy Freeze (maxed), Resist Cold (rest points). Pretty unique build which can clear whole game, and especially is melting everything through Normal and Nightmare.
So, you can shop for a lower resist wand and put it on switch. Should make those boss fights a bit easier. Shopping for a wand with +mana and +energy early on would help deepen your mana pool. Even better if you can get +20 to fcr. Cranking up lightning mastery could improve damage output without increasing your mana overhead. Maybe blizzard instead of hydra? Or even Glacial spike? Triple flawless sapphire in your helm might be better than trying to boost MF.
I know. But I don't really like o-skills on items. Yeah that would be amazing, but it would mean a lot of shopping. Which is boring :) Going for Lightning mastery and static first to buff the damage is a good way to lower the mana consumption for sure. Good call on that Blizzard or Glacial Spike would totally work. But, I wanted to do hydra's. I'll do the other ones at some point for sure. Yeah triple flawless helm would totally work. But sacrificing the helm slot while I can just drink pots is definitely a big ask
Hydra seems like the absolute worst choice for this because all the movement causes them to miss so often. Firewall or enchant for the merc seems more like the way to go
