I've never ever seen a Korean makeup artist working with someone with a darker tone like this, I really appreciate it! Vivi is so beautiful, and the makeup emphasizes her natural beauty wonderfully! Living in Korea as a woman of color, it can be very frustrating trying to find makeup that works on tan or dark skin. This makes me hopeful that things are changing
If anything, non Korean artists are not informed or even try to excel in makeup like Korean makeup artists do. I have seen so many American, European makeup artists butcher people's faces with makeup when they can't find or match the skin tone color, product and they don't understand aesthetics like Korean makeup artists do.
I am not sure I agree with this as I've seen really bad Korean makeup on celebrities. Considering they are in the public eye too. Foundation matching especially seems to be the worst when you see photos of Korean celebrities. Jung Saem Mool is a great makeup artist as are artists like Pat McGrath and Lisa Eldridge. With that said, I do feel relative to JSM, a lot of Korean makeup artists online tend to do the same variation of fairly basic makeup. It's not a diversified color palette either. Browns, pinks, peaches, and that's about it. My favorite thing though is that it's not heavy handed.
@@rimun5235 i don't think that the color matching problem has something to do with the makeup artist's skills but rather with the korean beauty standards. idols are whitewashed most of the time lol
@@rimun5235most korean celebrities actually wear lighter foundations to fit with the beauty standards, it's really out of the makeup artists choice, and sometimes even the celebrity themselves, to match them with a perfect shade.
This is really interesting that people point always color of ppl. Color doesnt matter and it was not ever the fact that korean artists avoid other race of people. It was just 'your first time to see this. And celebrities wearing bright foundation has nothing to do with admiring bright colors. And color of korean skin is relatively bright. So the fact that there are mostly brighter color of fondations is just developed adusted to the people in the seciety. It is true that there are few dark color skinned people so thats why the dark color products dońt sell. Or not produced.

I couldn't tell the difference when she was applying those colors one by one, but at the end I'm realizing how beautiful the makeup turned out compared to the earlier part. It's very natural, glowy, and intricate so different from American makeups
As a black woman in America it’s taken me a long time to appreciate makeup that isn’t so “on the nose” so to speak. I started down this journey of naturally beautiful makeup after learning I had massively sensitive skin and thereby just couldn’t justify heavy makeup. Korean makeup and honestly almost everywhere except the US is so light, minimally evocative, and focuses on enhancing the actual features of the person’s face (as opposed to massively overdrawing lips, contouring to the point of stage makeup, etc.). Freaking gorgeous. Brava 👏🏽👏🏽 감사합니다 선생님🫶🏽

I would love for korean brands to be more versatile with colour range. Most of the companies export product overseas to Europe and North America, there are many people with different complexions than what they produce.

Thank you for the details on how you do this look! So many makeup tutorials in West don't explain why we place things in certain places(like the highlight on the protruding parts of the eye to get a 3d effect). And the mixing of colors for the eyeshadow is super helpful because even though makeup companies have made huge strides with their inclusivity, some of the colors still look a bit wonky.
I love bold and subtle makeup and I'll be using your tips for when I want to be subtle!

I've always thought pearl makeup would look best on darker skin types. Just a bit of pearl shadows on eyes, her eyes look much more mysterious and seductive.

I loved this video. The eye colours were carefully layered, that I wasn’t sure if they were there till near the end. I loved the circle of highlight in the middle of the eyelid. I learned so much that I want to try this on my eyes and I hardly wear makeup! The model is really pretty, but now her eyes and lips stand out even more. Love the look.
