I've been thinking about such genre since the very first experience of playing rpgs 15 years back ago, but it never occured to me that I can simply look for it by using the most logical combination of words (dungeon synth)...Thanks youtube, now I'm indulging in it
"Depressive Silence" and "Secret Stairways" remains the two best-ever ones, specially for newcomers :)

For nobody ever leaves this dark and cursed land alive.
This is what Old Tower makes me feel as I listen to their music.
The tyrant's nephew who he exiled years ago because he was a claimant to his throne has gathered an army of marauders and somehow managed to infiltrate his uncle's castle and overtake his throne. He has sent a band of brigands to establish the new rule - his own - in these distant lands. They are cutting the neck of every guard who refuses to surrender, and shackling the ones that do. The former slaves are offered places in the new lord's army. You can either accept, or try to escape in the commotion. Now's your time to choose!

The horns at 0:53 are just wonderful. I listen to this so many times, and that drop always puts me in the headspace to DM.

Really enjoying this. Maybe it's just me but I hear a little bit of Summoning in there (for the majestic horns) and some Midnight Odyssey (for that ethereal melancholy vibe).

This one sounds better than Født til å Herske, but it's normal considering that album was made 23 years before. So Old Tower invents nothing new, but this album is well crafted.
