Such a fan of the Polestar brand! They are effectively the logical followup on the crazy 850r, s60r, v70r, s60 Polestar and such Volvos in a time where big turbocharged 5 (6) cylinders are no longer allowed. Might not have the noise of a 5 cylinder but a slightly more social city car. Polestar 2 or Polestar precept is probably going to be my next car. So why they make them? Because idiots like me love them!
I am still very social in my S60R... 270k miles and maintained! Which is more socially responsible: driving a car until it dies completely and can no longer be used, or throwing one away every 5 or 7 years and replacing it with another new one that is using up even more resources? I get the move to EV and I get the thought process of "more efficient" but we also really should consider how much less resources are used once a car is produced to keep it running. Besides, that B5254T4 at full throttle is still one of the sexiest sounds on the planet!
The main advantage of an full-ev is that it could learn the track and save -it on it's memory, next time after few setups can be pushed harder & faster so it will do a faster time with each lap.. i saw that watching the 2019 -WTCR touring racing series with 'Lync CO 03 TCR -Cyan' .. Polestar learned a lot from that..

It’s amazing the way you can watch the battery percentage ticking down in real time. But yes it is also amazing that because of the cooling it didn’t lose any power. Electric cars really are at their infancy.
Might I add, owning a polestar 2, is a HUGE amount of fun, an unbelievable amount of freedom, and the greatest joy I have had with a car. I miss the blowout valve sounds, but just living with this car everyday is amazing. I love you polestar

My neighbour has exactly the same model and let me test drive it. Honestly, this car has the best brake/suspension setup I have driven ever since the Ferrari 458. Absolutely stunning car! I have never expected a production EV to be so fun and easy to drive. Such a great car!

Drove a Polestar 2 Dual motor with Perfomance pack on Circuit Zandvoort this weekend. Very impressive indeed, easy to drive on the limit, nice steering, very good Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes. A real joy and EV's are here to stay!

@blacknester If by "normal" you mean older generations, then yes. Model 3 has had no battery heating issues since 2019 and the newest generation of Model S (2021) neither has that issue anymore. But stock brakes will still overheat.
I usually don't "complain" but I think that you should have let him speak more. I felt like he was about to say something many times when you interrupted him. However, good and funny video anyway 😁
Misha also had to persist to get the engineer to admit the car was not like the polestar he'd driven previously - that there was additional heat management/cooling. So I appreciate he pushed the engineer to address that honestly.

Got to drive the Polestar P2 around Florida. That car gathered a ton of attention from strangers. Everyone loved it. Got to show someone up when they tried revving a mustang up against the Polestar. Poor kid never saw it coming. 😂🤧

That goes for all EV's. Where do you live? If you have a parking garage under the apartment building. just set up a type 2 charger on your parking spot. If you just have street parking. Don't buy an EV if your country doesn't have good charging infrastructure yet.

I see one now and then in my village they look great they have a bit of the old Volvo and audi Sharp lines but in such a smooth design. It's great to see EV content can be nice instead of the same old yeah its gone fast. PS: your remark about empty level market got me looking into them and they are a lot cheaper then i thought.

It is so excellent to see an engineer for a major electric car brand wanting to develop an electric car for sporty driving, rather than focusing purely on straight line speed.
Good driving dynamic requires tuning experience and attention to detail, whereas power is mostly achieved by dumping more $, given that "it" does overheat fast and pairs with shitty brakes.
Finally got a chance to test drive one myself, with the Performance package of course. The car is very good. Gobs of power, strong brakes, taut suspension. I also love the built in Android Auto unit. Definitely a car I can see myself owning in a few years once their reliability is worked out.

I made my final decision to acquire my '23 P2 PPP after watching this video. The one tested here was at 408hp and my '23 is 467hp. I absolutely love my P2 which has FAR exceeded my expectations! Is it perfect? No! But it's pretty darn close. Is it the fastest? No! But it's hot-damn fast! I haven't met a gas car that can take it. It's sure-footed like a cat... so well balanced. And for a Swedish brand, it sure screams American Muscle in it's looks and performance. Excellent job, Polestar! Looking forward to the P4! :) :) :) :)
I'll be honest I've never really gotten the EV idea, personally I've thought they've only been made to fulfill the moral ideals (ie, fuel economy save the planet). But now I see with Polestar and also the Tesla "lap record" more companies are trying to make them to be fun and enjoyable it may slowly start to tip the balance towards more people going for them as going concerns for track toys. I for one would definitely like to see a prepared track version of each type to show what 'could' be done
The biggest difficulty is the rate at which they burn energy. It’s possible to have a really fast lap time, but it’s not possible to race for 2 hours. To do both will be the ‘holy grail’ for EVs.
@@hughmarcus1 To be honest, to charge a battery from 10-80% can be done in 10-15 minutes, and in Nordschleife races the pitstops are not much faster than that anyway, so what difference would it make? Maybe it'd still be an issue running one single battery and recharghing it for so long, I don't know.

As a Tesla Model 3 performance owner I am seriously impressed. This clearly outhandles the Tesla - briliant!
model 3p has far faster lap times though according to all the tests.

I made my final decision to acquire my '23 P2 PPP after watching this video. The one tested here was at 408hp and my '23 is 467hp. I absolutely love my P2 which has FAR exceeded my expectations! Is it perfect? No! But it's pretty darn close. Is it the fastest? No! But it's hot-damn fast! I haven't met a gas car that can take it. It's sure-footed like a cat... so well balanced. And for a Swedish brand, it sure screams American Muscle in it's looks and performance. Excellent job, Polestar! Looking forward to the P4! :) :) :) :)

Whoa.....I was deciding between single motor and dual motor. After watching this, it's an easy choice.
I think Polestar upgraded the firmware in the Engineer copilot as well, he seems a lot more comfortable this time round :D Excellent video.

I'll be honest I've never really gotten the EV idea, personally I've thought they've only been made to fulfill the moral ideals (ie, fuel economy save the planet). But now I see with Polestar and also the Tesla "lap record" more companies are trying to make them to be fun and enjoyable it may slowly start to tip the balance towards more people going for them as going concerns for track toys.
I for one would definitely like to see a prepared track version of each type to show what 'could' be done
The biggest difficulty is the rate at which they burn energy. It’s possible to have a really fast lap time, but it’s not possible to race for 2 hours. To do both will be the ‘holy grail’ for EVs.
@@hughmarcus1 To be honest, to charge a battery from 10-80% can be done in 10-15 minutes, and in Nordschleife races the pitstops are not much faster than that anyway, so what difference would it make? Maybe it'd still be an issue running one single battery and recharghing it for so long, I don't know.
@@hughmarcus1 Hill Climb/Rally is probably the only format that will work for EVs
