Love the manual approach ....then explanation.
Top job.
Cheers Mark. Yeah it’s helping me learns. Lot and then work out what I should make tutorials about in the future.
So excited to see what you create
It shall be fun!!!
Great videos my friend, thanks. Just bought a small package of Cubasis. It's gonna be fun following you.
Welcome aboard my friend.
Totally agree Pete. Ditch the metronome and use a drum track when laying down your audio or MIDI instruments. However, I’ve created live drum tracks using a Yamaha DD-75 and the metronome was helpful. Ever use a drum kit in GB? It worked for me, but I’m sure there’s a few things I’m missing. Great video! Learning a bunch about Cubasis so far.
I literally have a set of eDrums that are gathering dust. Really must get them set up and record me some “real” drums. 👍
Couldn't be there at that time...supper. But you can bet I'll be watching!
It was a really interesting one Marc. I now know every single Cubasis setting imaginable. 😄
@@PeteJohnsMusic I'm sure learning a lot... Greatest way to read a manual - Group session!
Right?! Was actually way more fun than I thought it would be.
Hey Pete..do u think cubasis 3 is better than GarageBand on iPad in terms of sound quality and mastering the track?
Sound quality? The same. The audio processing engines are very similar. Mixing and mastering options? Cubasis has more options and things like a master track and channel strips, and doesn’t auto normalise, so is generally more useful.
... i have my Coffee ready!🎵😊
In Cubasis 3.5 on iOS 16.2.
When we tap and hold the app icon, we can create a new project or lead/open a recent project that we’re working on.
Doing similar when we open Cubasis with additional options we’re we can load up one of the project template, load up existing project, access Cubasis tutorials and more.
When we’re import audio/midi files using the MediaBay, instead of double taping or dragging them into a new track, we can drag & drop the supported files ftom the files app into the MrdiaBay in one of the categories.
We have some new setup options we’re we can do the following.
- Display the grid above the event
- Enable the métronome only while recording
- Disable snapping the locator to an event via long-tap
- Configuring the midi output latency
- Optional to share the undo history when we share/transfer the Cubasis project.
And a few improvement & bug fixes
Nice one. 🤘😎
This should be interesting ..to see the distinctions between Cubasis and GB. I didn't even know this DAW existed lol ..Thanks Pete!
Haha! Yes, I’m sure will be a fun time. GarageBand is excellent - studiolivetoday.com/garageband
And I’m liking CB more and more as I learn it.
Hi Pete, how many beats do you usually put in a track, and how do you move parts of that track to the second track? Thanks and more power to you.
Hey my friend. I don’t use Cubasis a heap these days and it really varies depending on the song. Maybe check out the rest of the series? ruclips.net/p/PLc8Xg_23Wa54zwu5O6cdPeBbsMaEoPbh9
When we adjust the device Audio latency, when we’re recording adjust it to a lower value, when we’re playing back & mixing/mastering, adjust it at the highest value.
Sounds sound.
I like cubasis but I dont like how there is no manual save option. A couple of times, the latest state of my projects were not saved when I quit the app :(
Oh really? Yeah that’s not awesome.
Cubasis looks very capable, very nice interface, but there's no way to make any controller work with Cubasis, you have to control everything on the iPad's screen. This is a feature that has been requested for years, and when checking the different forums, the only official reply you get from Steinberg is that it's on their priorities list. But as I said, it was already on their list over 3 years ago.
I’m not 100% positive on my reply, but I believe the latest version does have that option...if you’re referring to a keyboard instance
Hey there. Perhaps this is requesting support for more full featured MIDI controllers? I use my M-Audio KeyStation with Cubasis 3.2.1 and it works great for playing keys, including pitch bends, modulation and sustain.
i'm sure just playing the keys and basic stuff like sustain and mod/pitch work fine, but things like drum pads, faders, knobs... won't work, on any controller, class-compliant or not because, afaik, Cubasis has no 'midi learn' capabilities... I remember reading somewhere that Steinberg intended Cubasis to be a 'touch only' iOS DAW, but apparently, the majority of users want more hands-on control... Let's hope they implement it soon, because I think that's the only thing that's holding Cubasis back from really becoming the best DAW on iOS.
‘Big Hair’.😉
It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion isn’t it?
Ah👍.....I enjoyed it😀 #Cubapril😀😁
Thanks my friend.
hoping this is somewhat current... is it possible to use GB on an ipad as a sequencer with click track assigned to earphones only..? TIA
PS. you are the wind beneath my multi-tracking wings
GarageBand only has a one output option sorry, so you can only send one mix out.
thnx for the quick reply! but actually, i think i know a way to get the click track in the headphones (but haven’t tried it “live” yet)
plug ipad into an audio interface with left and right outputs... pan a click track hard left (or right) and pan the sequenced track hard right (or left)
plug headphones into the side you assigned the click to which leaves your mono “phantom parts” line... plug that into pa system
does this sound do-able to you..?
🙌🏾 yo
Yo yo! Still haven’t tried Beatmaker. 😄
@@PeteJohnsMusic Ooh. That's going to be a fun one. Decent learning curve (like everything else)
I am so tempted but it feels like I’m cheating on GarageBand. Lol.
I use the features of GB that Cubasis is lacks(smart instruments and alchemy) and import tracks into Cubasis..the automation of effects and the precision of their mixing board is way more manageable than GB...So i use both
Yeah I think that at the end of the month I’ll miss a lot for the simplicity of GarageBand but enjoy the mixing and mastering options in Cubasis. So it will probably be a hybrid approach in the future for me too.
It should be about BIG HAIRED WOMEN!,,
