What's the difference between tone and puslse??

just keep the phone in tone setting.
pulse mode was used when we had rotary dials on phones.
As, the name suggests "tone" means when you press any button on the phone. it generates a tone with different frequency which helps the telephone exchange determine what numbers you dialed, and then your call is connected to the dialed numbers.
However, in older phones this was not possible, older phones had a switching system. In that when you dialed a number a signal or pulse was generated that many times.
that is when you dialed 3, three pulses were generated. this was how rotary dials worked.
