Don't let the Karen's in the comments bother you. I have one spot that I go to several times a year for the last five years, and this past year I had some guy come to my camp and take pics of my rig... I popped out and asked him why, he got to ranting about people staying too long and leaving trash.... I'm not the one buddy, in fact do you see how the rut from rain is filled in? I did that!! Bucket by bucket because I enjoy camping here... he actually pulled a gun on me when I went to walk towards his Jeep... he lives about four miles away on a mountain where he can see the spot. A real Darren. Thanks for the info!
Thank you for sharing I’m glad you did the dirty campers will be everywhere wether areas are shared or not ! However the responsible campers love to find good areas thank you again! Your whole channel is free or cheap camping ! Ignore those who say don’t post why are they here then?
If you don’t mind I have a suggestion: I think it would be nice if you would eliminate the music background because it is Way too noisy and strongly competes with your voice.
This video clip was extracted from a previous video. The music situation has since been corrected. Viewer input is always appreciated and often leads to quality improvement as my hobby matures. Thanks for watching! Lou
We've stayed there a few times. It's also known as Poverty Flats. It is a beautiful area. Valley of Fire has some of the most beautiful rock formations found anywhere.
We spent 3 weeks there in Feb. 2019, then again for a month in Dec. 2019. It can at time get very windy. We also stayed out at Stewarts Point within the Lake Mead Recreational Area (about 15 miles further south), its a fantastic place. We hiked out to St. Thomas and explored the ruins there that at one time were under 90 feet of water. If you and Melody get back there its a must do, very interesting to stand in that town and think about 90 feet of water being overhead. Great video Lou!
Yes, it is BOR, not BLM. Official name is Snowbird Mesa per BOR maps, but area rules note season is Oct 1 thru June 1. No camping in the summer season. i have camped there a couple times, i find it rough, rocky and windy. But proximity to Overton for supplies is great.
There is a private campground in Overton and a national park campground within the Lake Mead Recreation Area where you can dump tanks and obtain fresh water. Valley of Fire State Park also has a dump station and fresh water fill but that is a little pricier due to the entry fee. Cell service is good on all three carriers. Lou

Thank you sir! I was looking at Google maps in another window while watching this video. I was thinking "I bet I could use these other camp grounds if I needed" Great minds think alike 😆
No stay limit free camping areas are truly rare. Pennsylvania had awesome free camping in their state forests up until a little over a year ago when the state switched to a paid reservation system. If you want inexpensive dry camping check out our videos on the Michaux and Forbes State Forests in Pennsylvania. Lou
Judging from your video, it looks like Snowbird Mesa has been cleaned up a lot. 10+ years ago, the area was known to the locals as Poverty Mesa. As you can guess from the nickname, there were lots of (nearly) homeless people living there in cars, pickups, and old, broken down RVs.
I'm not a fan of posting "unlimited" in the title. I'm familiar with this place near VOF and already I've seen homeless piling up garbage there. Although it may seem that it's so far out there they would avoid it...they don't. The number of places you can camp without seeing garbage, destruction and poop are being picked away. It's astonishing how quickly. IMO, people should keep their mouths shut about these places and let campers/snowbirds find them for themselves. I always have but it seems no one wants to look around anymore. Permanent campers are a problem, period.
I agree with you videos like this will likely destroy the place. I live in Las Vegas and am very familiar with the beautiful VOF. I think it is better to let people find their own special spots as they might be more likely to respect and care for it properly. I enjoy the search for new adventure sites, as the journey is part of the joy.
I agree. People keep sharing special places and often the best places. Soon the best places that so many of us have found by searching unaided and kept to ourselves will all be overrun and nothing special will be left except overcrowding and garbage. Let people explore on their own and find sites on their own.
Must be nice to be so superior to everyone else like that. Buddy, I am a full time vanlifer, by choice. I have my income, did my duty as daughter, wife, mother, SOLDIER, and community advocate for years. Now I am free to do me. I do not keep a fixed address. I do not do drugs, act like a criminal, or harm the land. But LEGALLY, as far as our government is concerned ALL OF US who do this lifestyle are homeless. Man....just ease up.
@@pattikelly8921 Ease up on what? Do you not see the garbage and destruction? I travel with my camper 6 months of the year myself all over the States and have no objection to anyone else doing the same...but for you to criticize my point doesn't make sense. This camping area is in no way the "Backcountry" and it has been on multiple camping apps for years. Everyone that goes from Utah to Valley of Fire SP via Overton drive right by it.

Thank you, that name I recognize. 🙂
Incredible find Lou! thanks for sharing 😊. I’m adding it to my map
Please do. Merry Christmas new fifth wheel owner! Lou
One of my fave memories camping there is seeing my slide room being pushed in 6 or 8 inches on a breezy afternoon (35 gusting to 50mph for 36hrs).
Winds blowing across the desert can also be just as fierce in southern Califorina and southwest Arizona.

We had a good stay there too when we visited Valley of Fire. PS love the little clips of Melody that you are been inserting..
Very interesting! Thanks for the info. Please keep it clean peeps!
Thank you for sharing Lou, safe travels….
Beautiful area. We have been to Valley of Fire. but stayed in Las Vegas that time. Next time I will look for this mesa. Thanks for the video.
Much nicer staying just outside the park. There is a lot to see and do there. Lou
Been there. Camped there. Been in Overton and Logandale.
What about a dump and water station? How close is it? Did T-Mobile work well there?

First time watching and enjoyed your content...just a suggestion maybe a GoPro is in order as the camera shake and swing kinda make me dizzy. Thanks!
Hi Lou (and Melody), beautiful place. As always, thanks for sharing! When you are boondocking, what do you do to dump your tanks?

Lou🤓
Lots of space. I suppose this area could easily support 80 RVs without crowding.
@@LivingOurDreamNow Wowza! It's a huge area.

The wind, what was that like, being where open I would think the wind would be pretty bad. Plus didn't see anyone with any awnings out
Wind was not an issue during our visit, but things can change fast in the desert. Lou
Years ago it got the name Poverty Flats because of impoverished folks living there. But it was really trashed at that time.
We watch your channel brother! Lou

Pretty cool video but you never showed the town of Overton
That footage is in our original video on Snowbird Mesa located in this playlist: ruclips.net/p/PL8M1n1k-9xvnV3Oc1AFw7GVh7grwsfA_B&si=xB00RQw8FsBrsGA9
There is a stay limit. When nature turns up the temperatures in May, you'll want to move somewhere else cooler!!

Gravel parking lot ain't doin' it for me.
Head East . . . about 3000 miles should do it.
Water? Dump Station? Trash? Nearby groceries? Propane? Gas?
I have stayed in Quartzite, AZ on BLM land and they had all the above.
If not shown within the four corners of the video, you’ll have to source this information elsewhere. I travel a lot. Lou
@@LivingOurDreamNow I thought you stayed there, and would know (?).
I guess the area is really remote and supplies are far away.
Thanks for ruining the back country of Nevada. It will just turn into another Moab, with some of the trails being closed! Yea.
So you're the only one entitled?🤔

Yes! Keep every spot secret so others can't use it. That's the way to go.
