+Botro1 So they cannot make historical videos about Russian ships which fought in WW2 for uneducated fools like you? Then they shouldn't make vids for other nations either, moron.
No submarines attacked the convoy on the day described. (18th Sep). Only aircraft attacked the convoy that attack, and only 1 merchant was sunk, for a loss of aircraft. The main fighting was really done before on the 14/15th. Also considering how only 4 soviet destroyers turned up to escort the convoy, while on the 18th 20 Royal Navy ships were still escorting (3 destroyers, 4 Corvettes, 7 Minesweepers, 4 Trawlers, 2 AA ships) I definitely think WG have tried to play up the Soviets by exaggerating their role. I know that they use preserved ships for these videos, but still, it's a stretch to use those that had little impact.
If only. Then maybe they might see the difference. But they are more than a little biased, so I doubt they would listen. Edit: found a mistake in my first post, 3 aircraft were shot down on the 18th.
***** Good Joke, but I don't use the internet as much, I have books and a lot of them. And a local library which I read in. His "different sources" are most likely the Russian reports of the battle, which are usually unreliable from all sides, they often tend to be exaggerated. Every side does that after a battle. Yet if you read the German records of the attack, of which only they know the losses and attacks which they made, they are more reliable. E.g. After the U-457 was sunk by the destroyer HMS Impulsive on the 16th September, all U-boat attacks were called off, because the British Destroyer escort was being effective. Yet battle reports from the Russians and British on the 18th would not know this, and therefore they could believe submarines to be there, if a torpedo appeared, and the crews could not see the aircraft that dropped it.
Major Midget That is typical biased (cold war) and untruthful stereotype propaganda by West on anything Russian. Russian reports are just as accurate as Western when it comes to a RUSSIAN fights, thus the MAIN and most reliable reports are always Russian when concerning Russian side of battles, not the (often falsified) Western ones. It is usually those who exaggerate themselves blame others for exaggeration, just like Nazi Germany did (ie admissions of Otto Carius). There is a psychological term for that and its called "projection". PS. I do not remember British (military navy) operating in the north Arctic sea during WW2. Also Russia never claims to know better what West did in its battles, but it is funny how West always does supposedly "know better" in case of Russia (for domestic propaganda reasons). When you remove ideological barriers, can't you see the hypocrisy there?
Shivers down my spine when I saw the convoy animation. AWESOME.
Gotta admit, using the water columns from shells to take out planes was pretty clever.
