Hey Sammy, thanks for making these videos and sharing them! You may not realize it but your helping some people on a level you never thought you would. I used to fly fish every day. It was my whole life. In 2020 my life took a bad turn and i lost most everything ive even known. I didnt fish for nearly 3 years and recently started watching your videos. You reminded me whats its about and all the things i had forgotten i missed. Im back on the flyrod now and building my gear back up. I feel like you helped me escape hell. Thank you!

Sammy, The device you are using we call a prawn pump in South Africa. The yabbies (pinkish ones) are called sand prawns and are a favourite bait for Spotted Grunter (Pomadasys commersonnii) - they can reach a maximum size of 91 cm fork length and a weight of 9.5 kg. They can reach a maximum age of 16 years. *EXCELLENT FIGHTERS* !!
Right On Sammy. Every near shore species will have a go at a Yabby! My Father in Law would say if You are using live Yabby's for bait and you catch no fish, there are no fish to be caught!!!✌❤🤗 And always TIGHT LINES!!🤙

Thanks for taking us along fishing. I live in SW Florida. We have miles of flats on our Gulf Coast, here, similar to your beautiful area. You really should visit/fish the flats here someday. I think you would enjoy it. Your technique would work well here with live shrimp, bait fish, or artificials with skilled presentation. Your equipment would be best scaled up a bit here. I use 10 lbs braid with 20 lbs leader. Sea Trout, Snook, Redfish, Flounder, Crevalle Jack, and Tarpon, would love to entertain you on holiday here. Thanks again.
Hey Sammy I want to make you jealous. At the end of March I am going to British Virgin Isles and stay on a 53 ft catamaran for 10 days with a captain mate and personal chef. Get to cruise all around the US & British Virgin Islands and fish as much as I want in 100ft clear visibility water. There are ledges that drop off to 1000 ft. Blue Marlin Wahoo Yellowfin Tuna Mahi and big Gag Grouper. I know its not as nice as what you have but for 10 days if I can stay sober for a while the fishing should be 🔥🔥🔥🔥. 😎
@@SammyHitzkeFishing If I do get into them hot and heavy then I will have to Email some pics! I know right now they are catching some big wahoo in 50-70 lb range along with a buncha med sized striped and white marlin so I hope the bite still stays hot when I get there!😎🤘🤘

Whilst some ones pumping, it’s best to have a line in the water nearby, especially if you after a feed, they’re hanging about for an escapy, I pump in 1ft water and pool float around my worm sieve
@@SammyHitzkeFishing pleasure is mine mate👍 Hey mate just an idea if it’s too windy to fish outside but I fish in the Mooloolah river off my pontoon over a sand flat an have been using peeled prawn under a float and had some spectacular takes by big bream and whiting 👌
Wow super cool to see that you guys have sandshrimp there, here in the USA over in the Pacific northwest we have them as well. And are super good date for rockfish when fishing off of the jetty.
Love a feed of yellow fin. We are having a bumper season of them in our local inlet on the south coast of WA lots of fish over 38 to 42. Best this season has been a 44. Bloodworms are the best bait here

Perhaps I should have let them take it until I had a run but I'm used to surf fishing with sandworms where a bite equals a fish most days.
Great video for us that do this type of fishing regularly. You might want to get a few more tips from Clint as you were close in your set up but not quite right for the numbers. Oh and the first hook up would have been a stingray which happens there all the time. Thanks for a great video.
Hey mate, glad you enjoyed it!! Yeah I think he uses 4lb leader or 3lb straight through doesn’t he? I’ve hooked plenty of stingrays out there, I thought I felt a few head shakes on this one which made me think (wish😂) it could have been a flattie 🤷♂️ 🍻🍻🍻
@@SammyHitzkeFishing yeh between 4 to 6lb Fluor straight through on a 1000 reel. Rods fine though I like an Arrows estuary a little shorter than you were using with the same hook you were using works a treat. Also walk more with your bait in the water to find the schools.
I actually used the straight through fluro in the first video I did fishing the flats like this. I found I could cast the yabbies further with the light braid and it’s way more sensitive. I reckon you struggled a bit Sammy due to having no sinker on mate. Even if it's a 00 or 0 size, the tide and current will keep your bait moving. You also get a bit more distance when casting your bait in that wind and have the added bonus of having some tension on the line to feel the bites.
Hey mate, yeah a sinker could work in some cases. I prefer to fish without one in these situations though. Casting with the wind is the go, and the tide provides the tension to feel the bites along with light braid. If the water was deeper I think a small sinker would definitely be the go 👌👌👌
@@SammyHitzkeFishing Yeh, having the wind at your back would of helped and having a moving bait is essential to finding them. Back when I was club fishing we use to hit the S/E tip of Bribie Island (Woody Point to Red Beach section using wriggler worms we'd dig up at Redcliffe and catch cricket scores of whiting at times (August to Decmember with late September being the best) fishing all day. Tides are important as well although they weren't real big compared to a Maroochydore River whiting which are real elbow slappers.
Nah mate, it stays in the water so the fish stay cool enough. Then I just make a trip back to the boat and Chuck them in the ice when there is a break in the fishing 👍

Hahah yeah you can keep the whites!
But a big king George is definitely on the list of fish to catch!!
Thats what she said.
😂😂
You got ice in that bag? And is it insulated?
Nah mate, it stays in the water so the fish stay cool enough. Then I just make a trip back to the boat and Chuck them in the ice when there is a break in the fishing 👍
Hey Sammy what ever happened to fishing with Shauno yous were unreal together
We fished together 3 videos ago catching marlin from Mojo! He’s often away so we can only fish when he’s back. This Sundays video is with him though 👌👌

Hey mate, I don’t have any available at the moment, but they should be back in stock soon on my website, www.sammyhitzkefishing.com
How is it you don’t catch stingrays?
You do get the odd one, trying to keep the bait moving helps 👍
