From 1895-1945, Taiwan was considered a Japanese colony, so it is common to find Taiwanese photos and film of them wearing Japanese style clothing. Many Taiwanese during this time even had Japanese names. Even the singers in the 1950s and 1960s had Japanese style names: 美紅; 露霞; 淑美; 麗花; 美雲; 蘭花; 麗珠....
