Hi this report looks extremely nice. i need a suggestion: i am currently working on power BI financial reporting, to get financial data from Netsuite ERP. i have already integrated 2 systems, but i need advice on how to sql query Netsuite data to power BI or how to ETL any financial data using standard ODBC connection import. for example, if i want to make P&L statement in PBI
Sam: What's your preferred approach for these two requirements in PL reports: 1. Realizing asymmetric reports e.g. actual 2018 in one column and budget 2019 in another and 2. implementing calculated sub totals like Gross Profit (Rev - COGS)?
Regarding 1. That shouldn't be to difficult and is very similar to the example in the video I would have thought. It's just getting the correct calculation into a measure and adding it in. Regarding 2. Subtotals are a little tougher at the moment. There is no simple way to do this. In the example I broke them out into cards. I'm looking for easier ways to do this and showcase it, but will take a little bit to work up some examples. Chrs
Thanks a lot for the quick response Sam! Re 1: I wasn't precise enough sorry. I meant a field based, non measure approach. Our ideal way here would be a dynamic set definition as possible in SSAS MD. Re 2: the way we have been doing this so far was having a separate "statement structure" table and related DAX measures that switch between calculating running totals and the fields (accounts) of the statement. This works but is very hard to maintain and typically not optimal for general simple business use.

This resources isn't available for download so I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean registering for the event, then the registration box is always set like that, all you need to do is push the button to complete your registration
Will this be made available as a downloadable resource? I am following this and trying to modify it for my specific setup but I am trying to trace some of the things I am missing. Looks like some of this is in the EDNA Video on Financial Reporting.
