    Hey Holly! This is long and I know you won’t read it but I’m hoping this can serve as a message to everyone else in the same situation.
    Four years ago I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Not cancer, just a tumor. While we thought it was great that it wasn’t cancer, it turned out to be awful. They couldn’t operate due to the location, so i was supposed to just live with it.
    At the beginning I was sad but I thought I’d overcome it. That is, until I stopped walking. And stopped being able to even move my arms at certain times. I wasn’t capable of working anymore.
    I was 12 when I started working at a local farm, cleaning the stalls and other stuff. I was saving money to pay for riding lessons because my family doesn’t have a lot of money. Everything was going great and in some months I was able to afford a quick lesson in a really sketchy farm. I loved it. I had known I was meant to work with horses before that but finally riding one was amazing.
    I had eleven riding lessons. One which month because that’s what I could afford. And then, at 13, I got incredibly bad migraines and bam, brain tumor.
    At 13 I stopped riding and I was devastated. I was devastated that a really small mass had this impact and completely changed my life. I couldn’t work at the farm anymore and I couldn’t ride. I couldn’t even leave my bed without a wheelchair after a few months.
    I’m now 17. I’m doing better with medication and physical therapy and last week I finally rode again. I know i wont be doing that for a long time now so I just watch your videos. They really calm me down and one day I really hope I get to be like you!
    Never change. Your energy, your horses, everything! They manage to make everything a lil better.
    Xx

      I know this isn't the same thing, but I stopped riding for a year because my mental health got really bad. When I rode again it felt like a breath of fresh air. I hope you continue to manage it and you can enjoy riding or at least being around horses ❤️

      This is such an amazing story. I'm just so sorry you have had such obstacles in your life. What I am proud of, is how you continue to set goals and are focused on what you will be doing in the future. I am a grandmother but have been dealing with a life threatening illness for the past 15 years. I, too, had to give up riding. And like you, enjoy Holly's videos so much. Stay strong and keep us posted on how you are doing😀❤💕💖 Thank you for sharing your story.

    Not to be nosy but would you be able to tell us how come you ended up living there ? I always wonder if your dad was into horses before you 😂
    Also, credit to you as you might be lucky to have this place from your parents but it sounds like you do a lot of the work and you’ve never stopped through the years! Well done xx

    Our chickens seem to own our place as well 😂
    We have the cups with pins and if I don’t drill the holes in the jump posts perfectly, they don’t go all the way through- which is indeed a pain. I totally understand your frustration with one light in the arena. I used to have to use my truck’s high beam headlights to add extra light😁

    I just love the way you say that bloody chicken I love the Irish accent (I'm from Ireland) Also u inspire me so much about 2 years ago a connemara mare called Jeddah was at my stables and I ride her an loved her until I done a round of canter and bucked me off the next week my instructor told me to ride her again to get my confidence back so we done another round of canter and bucked AGAIN this time she positioned her neck to help me but it didn't work I ended up spraining my arm so I couldn't ride for a while that knocked my confidence the next year I had a bad call I was jumping a gate at about 50cm and the horse I was riding was about Fiona heighten was a grey ISH he refused it 3 times eventually 5 girls started waving their arms to get him over it be jumped it and apparently my instructor said he jumped it like 2metres higher the n it was I wasn't ready for it so I fell of but me being awkward sommersaulted and landed head first and I got knocked out for 20mins for the next 6 months after that I would hardly trot I was so terrified u until we came across you holly you are such an inspiration thanks to you I have accomplished jumping a metre 10 last month I'm 12 years old now and I feel like an advanced rider (maybe a bit to far) thanks holly

    Your uncle should start a DIY channel 😂 I knew your arena was big, but it looks smaller when your doing a jumping video and you only see certain parts! It’s massive! I have an indoor that is 70m2 by 90m2 and an outdoor that is 45m2 by 60m2. But the indoor needs a new roof, so that’s not great! 😐😳 your yard is beautiful with all the green! I live in Australia, and -especially in summer- we don’t have as much lush, green plantation.

    • @HollyLenahanSJ
      @HollyLenahanSJ  5 лет назад

      In fairness it always looks a lot bigger when it’s leveled and all the jumps are taken out! But I’m still extremely lucky to have one this size 😍

      When I had my livery yard/stud, I also had a lot of small children to keep an eye on during the Summer holidays so I had jump making/painting parties - I supervised, they painted. They would beg half-empty tins of paint and old brushes from their parents and I'd provide the white base plus brush cleaner. The kids used to work in pairs painting a complete jump each that they would name - it was fun and I could save my energy for other things. :-)

    I was always very curious watching your videos about 2 things: first, what is horses feeding routine? Do they only graze or are you feeding them in the morning and in the evening or do they just get sth after training? And the other thing, maybe it is up to the climate but I also keep some horses on the field but I dont think they would be safe and sound without any kind of roofing/ free access shelter in case of bad weather (snow, storm, heavy rain or wind etc) and my horses seem to enjoy it and use it. How are they doing without anything? Do they have some place to hide? anyway, great tour, big fan of yours! xo

    • @HollyLenahanSJ
      @HollyLenahanSJ  5 лет назад

      During the summer they get fed when they come in to be worked, during the winter they get hay and feed twice a day :)
      And they have lots of natural shelter because as you can see from the video, the trees on one side of the field are very tall

    • @TKDDLJ09
      @TKDDLJ09 5 лет назад +1

      I so wanna have my own place too, but land is so expensive where I live, because we don't have a lot of it. And since board and have an indoor arena, an outdoor one and a jumping arena with full jumps, I'm reluctant to get my own place, because I've become accustomed to all these things and if I want that where I live it's even more expensive and making an arena is not easy, if you even get permission to make an outdoor one, you will never get permission to make an indoor one if you aren't a business. 😑😑😑😑
