Eric, with all due respect, your comparison with ayatollah is majorly inaccurate. Ayatollah wanted to create a theocracy, Srbasan doesn’t want that. He doesn’t want Armenia to be a theocracy and he himself is not planning to stay in clergy if he will become a prime minister (even though it is too early to talk about that). Secondly, why are you calling this movement a farce? Third; would like to remind you of Archbishop Macarios who served three times as the president of Cyprus. Second; he met with the party of kocharian, so what? He also met with the members of NDA. He agreed to give interview only to French magazine Le Monde. Conclusion; this is a spontaneous movement of people who don’t accept what the current government is saying and doing and it is only the beginning!

The Homeland needed a leader against this criminal, tratourous government. Surpazan Bagrat took on this difficult task. He brought people together. He united different political parties against this imminent danger the Homeland is facing. Let the democratic process bring a new leadership to power after pashick leaves as long as they don't sell the country. The difference in politicsl parties is minor compared to selling the Homeland to the enemy.

This government IS working against the criminals. Surpazan fooled a few, rest were supplied by the former clans. About 10 to 15 % were there with genuine concerns.

As someone who has lived in Iran for over 20 years, I find the comparison between the Archbishop Bagrat and Khomeini manipulative, irrelevant and inaccurate.
It’s sad to see that instead of an unbiased critical analysis of the situation, he has joined the smearing campaign (this one designed for Western audiences ).
I have listened to Eric for years, and will continue following him, but that doesn’t mean not critiquing his analysis.
I understand circumstances and ideologies are different, but maybe what I'd gather is that bagrat's nationalistic movement is all talk and hoorah and God is with us and all those big words but at the end of the day no substantive plan for betterment and is projected to lead to another not so great regime which parallels to the Iranian story. Similary how khomeini was criticizing the shah for selling out Iran parallels bagrat against nikol albeit different circumstances. But I'd like to hear your thoughts.
@@hovsepouzounian3399 At least, he has managed to unite certain section of the community. Something that hasn’t been achieved since 2020. Also the smearing campaign of labeling him as Kremlin agent is a well known method deployed against anyone criticising Pashinyan, by his propagandists.
Pashinyan is repeating the genocide denial discourse condemned by Lemkin Institute, facilitating the ethnic cleansing of Armenian of Artsakh, endless unilateral concessions causing irreparable damage, so it’s only a good thing that there’s a protest movement against it.

Pashinyan’s policy is very centric, others are West or East oriented which doesn’t have much support from electorate. Armenia isn’t ready yet to join the west and is tired of being with east, and Pashinyan knows that and uses it to his advantage.

👍Comparing Sirpazan Bagrat to Khomeini is not a good comparison.
Though the reason for the rise of Khomeini was similar to rise of Sirpazan Bagrat. And the West brought the shah to power.
Sirpazan Bagrat has a comendible past. He chose to be spiritual leader of Tavush. He could have chosen a more comfortable location. He stood with those who needed him.
