@@bonorbitz My fear is that the market shifts, Intel doesn't push back right away, and AMD ends up being complacent. I really hope I'm wrong because the continued competition is going to be the best thing for the industry, but Intel should have started to push back after 1st gen Ryzen. I mean it has only been 2 years since 1st gen, but you would think they would have tried to push it into overdrive and keep them down.
We don't know that. We don't know what their mindset is (or was). Intel could very well be fully into the development of a new architecture. It's not that they were arrogant or lazy, or whatever else the internet know-nothings want to claim from their creaking, stressed out chairs. When there is no competition, an individual or a company can only fight with themselves. Intel spent the better part of eight years basically playing with their food because AMD offered nothing. Two years now of excellent product placement by AMD threatens Intel, and I can guarantee you the latter has been working on something that entire time. After all, Intel's market share among gamers in particular has actually gone up since Ryzen first hit the shelves two years ago, and it's only now that they are starting to spring a few leaks in their otherwise air-tight market hold. AMD has caught up to them in performance, and is blowing them away in value. This will force Intel to respond, and I'm sure they have already started. Keep in mind, whenever there is a two-horse race in a big industry, competition breeds excellence. But eventually, one of them will consume the other. The best example most nerds can probably relate to is the Monday Night Wars of the professional wrestling golden era in the late 90's. Eventually WWF/E became so good and grew so big that it simply gobbled up all the competition. Now it's garbage because there hasn't been competition for 18 years. Intel's response to AMD could be great, or it could spell their doom. Either way, I expect one of these two companies to eventually consume the other and we are back to over-priced complacency.
main different is RAM OC capability. X570 don't need to OC RAM. Default support 3200MHz !!! and up to about 4200MHz !!! X470 or X370 can not OC RAM well !! like 2133 or 2933MHz only !!

"... synthetic benchmarks, like ... ... Blender..." I really wouldn't call Blender a synthetic benchmark in the least, it is an actual tool used by many people to do work on.
It gives me synthetic money, then, lol.... It's gotta be synthetic, now that I think about it... I don't believe the Blender Foundation has managed to grow a tree in their garden that gives natural bred 100 $ bills. But with that folk, u never know, look at Blender 2.8.
Also, he adds that the real scenarios (the blender test is as real, or more, I know...is an actual usual and super frequent operation in Blender, lol) are more the Premiere export and Premiere Warp stabilize. But... 3900X again beats there the 9900 k ! In BOTH. No small merit, as Premiere, like most Adobe apps (full of legacy old code) favor GREATLY single core over many cores (Photoshop is a very strong case of it).... So... wow. Even there the 3900 beats the 9900k. Yeah, am not an AMD fanboy (neither intel's), but u can very safely say now that of "The King is dead, long live the king". At those prices in AMD, no more intel's advantage, the cpu security issues, no advance towards 7nm, Intel do need to lower its prices.... drastically. Or there's no game.... Probably "synthetic" in the sense that it used fixed preset values and a specific scene shared among all benchmarks. Take that as you will considering Blender is actually used in the real world, but I suppose it's only fair to mention that it's "synthetic" since those fixed values are likely altered in actual usage and may or may not benefit certain CPUs over others in some way, shape, or form.

Jay won't go team anything. And you shouldn't, either. Brand loyalty is a bit absurd in my opinion. I built a couple of machines last year that, for their intended task, Intel chips made more sense. If I were doing it this year, it would likely have been AMD chips. Getting stuck behind one brand is pointless. About the marketing: I had my own business once, and there i realised just how stupid and blind the average customer is: Several other stores and I had trouble selling some Bates combat boots, we contacted Bates and asked them if that was a general problem, they said yes and gave us the following solution: Take them off the shelf for a month, put them back in in stock but double the price, dont change anything in the description or website. It worked, suddenly we ran out of stock, and the only thing we changed was doubling the price, thats it. The average customer back then (2007) and now is stupid and blind, only fixating on the namesticker and price, choosing to ignore the product itself. I got a Ulefone S10 Pro after my Samsung S8 broke, so many have laughed at me when i say i have a Ulefone, but the funny thing is, is that my Ulefone does the exact same thing as a 1500USD Samsung or iPhone, they cant do anything i cant, and im doing it for literally 1/10 of their price.
@mrFluorocarb I admit that many of our customers did not research the products, its pricehistory, and was completely blind to a high price tag, not even looking at the product itself, but only at the pricetag. Every product i sold you could get a pricehistory from, dating back 12 or 24 months. So if you did a 10 sec Google on a product i sold, you could the pricehistory and the jumped price right there. What other companys did/did not do, is not on me. Im sorry to say it, but many of the overpriced product today, only have the customer themselfes to blame. Take mobilephonesas an example; why are the customer utter stupid enough to pay 1000-2000 USD for a freaking mobile when you can get one that does the same job for 200 usd? Becasue they are stupid and blind, thats it, only looking at the brand name and wich version/model it is and because the electronic companys know that the stupidity is endless and they can keep raising the price model after model, and the customer would gladly pay it. 42%? How did you get those numbers? Back in 2007 ill bet you that more than 85-90% of Denmark was online. And take a look at all those "WOW ones-in-a-lifetime-super-duper-sales", the majority of all companys slowly raise there prices during the year, only to "lower" them to normal during Black Friday, christmas, new year and such sales. So im not embarassed to say it, on the contrary, im saying it to help the ordinary customer to open their eyes and stop looking at a brand sticker or a pricetag; It very often does not reflect the quality of the product itself, only a inflated pricetag.

Regarding overclocking. You'll find that it's hard to OC the 3xxx series. You can pretty much forget the all core OC unless you're *very* lucky with the chip lottery. However there's room for quite a bit more performance with PBO overclocking it seems, although there's some differences with the 2xxx series so it's hard to say *exactly* how to get the most out of them. With the 2xxx series you'd do a negative voltage offset, raise the thermal limit and power limit and you'd get up to a all core max boost equal to the single core max boost. It seems like it's theoretically possible to get the all core max boost up to 200 MHz above the single core max boost with X570 if you're *really* lucky using PBO overclocking. Who knows if anyone is able to get that done though... According to AMDs slides their results where achieved with a core temperature at 60 °C so if you can achieve that then that might help you with your overclocking. That said, it seems like these chips like to run hot, so reaching that temp might be difficult...
As far as the compatibility section, from what I heard the board partners said that yes it will fit in the old sockets but the boards themselves are net designed for the new core counts and power draw.

Shouldn't be too surprising to anyone - consistent high yields are one of the primary benefits of the chiplet approach, and somewhat inconsistent chips(...or artificially low boost clocks...) are the reason why CPUs have clock headroom. I understand everyone wanting always higher clock speeds, but does everyone 'get' that a lot of headroom isn't a "good thing"?

Too bad capitalism eventually leads to the death of competition and monopoly, a system where only corporate profits win and everybody else loses.
AMD invested in the future while Intel was comfortable with what it had.
Totally. I'm not a fanboy of one brand or the other, but Intel definitely became complacent being on top. I look forward to seeing how the push back.
AMD stock looking good now
@@bonorbitz My fear is that the market shifts, Intel doesn't push back right away, and AMD ends up being complacent.

I have a 8700k for gaming.... Im staying put they are almost even in gaming. If I do decide to start streaming and want to do video rendering and more in work load. Well AMD is my pick. Very amazing how the fight continues. I wanna see when intel takes out their 16cores 32 threads for 360dollars and AMD comes with a 24core 48 threads for 360 bucks. Come on guys. Wish they almost get graphics integrated they give us 1080p with over 100fps in triple A titles next. That would make me buy asap. AMD is doing good. INTEL will strike back soon hope they make their processors fully unlocked every one of them.
This fight benefits us
Looking forward to your next review video on gaming with these CPUs

Thank you Jay nobody else has been every clear on the Ryzen 9 compatibility with A x370 board but you.
Wich timestamp
Will Jay got team Red? I predict a 3950x in his future for all of his content creation.
You will either 1) End up overpaying for sub par products or 2) End up trying to justify how it's better in specific scenarios x, y, z, regardless of what you're actually doing with it.
Nah, he'll go with Zen 2 Threadripper later in the year simply because of quad channel memory etc
Jay is biased (nvidia helps keep his lights on, if Jay was negative toward nvidia he wouldn't be getting $1300 gpu's for free), but that is a discussion for another day. I am a value shopper and AMD, most of the time has been in the more value for your dollar business. That's why I favor AMD. If the roles were reversed I would support intel. Intel is expensive and makes you have to purchase a new motherboard with the next upgrade path. Partly due to lack of competion on the higher end. Maybe Intel will learn from AMD, competition between the two benefits the end consumer.
@@turbowrx777 Or maybe AMD just isn't competitive with higher end cards. Like at all. They're less competitive there than they were four years ago with CPUs.
Hell, they don't even release cards in the 2080ti/titan bracket anymore.

So I picked up both a Ryzen 5 3600X and a Ryzen 3600 and it seems there is no difference in gaming benchmarks in my tests with The Division 2. In both cases running benchmarks on Ultra settings at 1080p resulted in exactly 104 FPS on two different systems with also different RX 5700 XT. I purchased the 3600 @ $199 while the 3600X was at $249 at launch. I think AMD realized there is no benefit to the 3600X and has started discounting it by $20 now selling at my local Micro Center for $229. System 1 is 100% water cooled, 3600X EKWB AM4 CPU block, Sapphire reference RX 5700 XT again EKWB GPU block cooled with120mm+240mm radiators, running on a Gigabyte B450M 3SDH, 24GB DDR4-3200 CL16 in a Thermaltake Core V21 (mATX). System 2 is 100% air cooled, 3600 with Wraith Prism (hand me down from a 2700x), ASRock Challenger RX 5700 XT (custom cooler/pcb) running on an ASUS ROG Strix B450i Gaming with 32GB DDR4-3200 CL16 in a Thermaltake Core V1 (ITX). Its pretty amazing how two different systems benchmark getting identical FPS numbers. You would think the 100% water cooled 5700XT/3600X would get better results than a 100% air cooled AIB 5700XT/3600. As far as fan noise, its very close the EKWB vardar are audible but only slightly less so than the ASRock GPU fans. Long story short, save your money and get the 3600 and air cool it.
About the marketing:
I had my own business once, and there i realised just how stupid and blind the average customer is:
Several other stores and I had trouble selling some Bates combat boots, we contacted Bates and asked them if that was a general problem, they said yes and gave us the following solution:
Take them off the shelf for a month, put them back in in stock but double the price, dont change anything in the description or website.
Running amd fx overclock 8350 for 6 years now is the time!!!!
Had the FX 8320 since 2012 and just updated to a 3800x. Let me tell you its a completely different world. You wont regret it.

same. FX 8370E and the difference is like worlds apart
Lol @16:50 you're in for a sad surprise (r3x00 OCing).
No hate, so am I. I pre-ordered a 3600x. Gonna be testing it today. Hopefully PBO lets me get to 4.4-4.5. That'd be nice.
But yeah, looks like OC headroom is even lower on ryzen 3000 than Intel.
Intel right now
"I'm in Danger"
Intel isn't in danger. Nor should you want them to be. They are in danger in the desktop market, AMD just punched them in the face there. And they need to respond. You should want them to respond. We all win when both companies are fighting for your money.
intel failed the mobile market now they are in danger of desktop market and maybe the enterprise servers thinking about getting amd chips for the huge "Price to Performance" difference.
Restarino Pepparino...
@@marcleblanc3225 you really haven't thought this out. The 3rd generation Ryzen are a prelude to what is going to shake up the server market not the desktop market. Intel is really hurting in their biggest money making division, Servers.
@@davidmiller9485 AMD is gonna take the enterprise and HEDT markets, too. At least until intel adopts 7nm lithography for their desktop

Gamers Nexus was simply wrong there.
The issue was that Steve was testing at a high bitrate while "slow" is best for getting good quality at a *low* bitrate since it allows for more compression at a given quality or more quality at a given compression.
But at a higher bit rate there's no real difference.
9900K does not cost 450$ its 450 + 100 aio.
Buy Old cheap Mobo B450 $100 + $250 R5 - Gaming king combination.
Games will run slightly faster on intel not because of intel processors superiority but shady software monkey business called intel compiler, which compiles programs so they run slower when cpu is not intel.
Thats what i did i paid less than 400$ for a brand new b450 aorus gaming mbd and a r5 3600
7:31 IPC TEST Cinebench R15 Single-core
R9 3900x vs i9-9900k
Just installed my 3700x into my msi x370 gaming pro with no problems. This processor does runs a lot better then my 1700x did. Very happy!!
If you overclock it'd be interesting to see how the x370 can handle the power draw
I believe the motherboard handles the new chip well. I ran Cinebench R15 and my cpu vcore min/max = 1.152v / 1.464v using Precision Boost. I'm not sure what the max is supposed to hit while underload with the 3700x. My min/max clock speeds were 3479mhz / 4408mhz. Cpu didn't go above 38°c. on air cooling. I haven't tried to manually overclock it because this is a gaming rig. Precision Boost on gets you the best performance in games.
@@turbowrx777 1.46V+ is insane ... Jay had a good rant about this in the Gen 3 overclock video. Then again, these might just be spikes and the board seemingly running stable despite it is good news. Still this isn't the critical scenario I hinted at; when running 12 beefy cores around or even over 1.4V permanently, power draw / VRM temps pretty surely will become an issue. Not for you personally but I'm still concerned about my plan to get a x370 mb with a cheap used 1700X now and upgrade to the 3700X later when they drop.
Please customize a great water cooling system on the new ryzen. You are the BEST at water cooling🤪
I wanna at least put the 3900x in my x470 ASRock MOBO and see how that goes
There is a compatibility chart online somewhere that might save you some time.
@@marcvan367 well I already seen and updated my BIOS that says support for upcoming AMD processors, so I know it's compatible and most likely pcie 4.0 won't be enabled on this board but whatever my 2080 is only pcie 3.0 anyways lol

@@fffrrraannkk I had heard about this chart but hadn't seen it yet. Thanks for posting it. I'm now tickled to death that my old x370 is fully compatible with all of them. Now to make some decisions.
@@adaster98 Your average user doesn't have a use for PCIe4.
Currently got a 2700x, I'm feeling might be worth skipping this generation? Thoughts?
Same here. The only thing I upgraded was the mobo to a x570 PCIe4. Still running 2700x/16gb 3ghz/SSD/ 5700XT @ pcie3.
Yes they are, my ryzen 3rd gen is on the way as we speak
As far as the compatibility section, from what I heard the board partners said that yes it will fit in the old sockets but the boards themselves are net designed for the new core counts and power draw.
Tough times for intel.
I hope AMD wont do the same mistake as market leader
Getting market leadership would take another half a decade of Intel doing nothing tho.
Which is entirely possible given the utter retards they got sitting in the big chairs.
History repeats itself.
Give any company enough time at the top, they will all make the same mistake as Intel. When they does happen, the market will demand a company like AMD and they will get the lions share. Then after a number of years at the top. The cycle repeats.
@@killtyrant I dont now. Their CEO seems a bit more earth bound. Maybe, just maybe we get the company we dreamed of.
Look like amd and good stuff but but don’t think intel are doing nothing they got 10 gen coming and desktop 10 gem will come along and ddr5 everyone has forgotten this ddr5 memory has got its pats now and x570 has a lot to prove in chipset design intel are strong in that area .. amd must keep going hope they can I believe they can then future is great for us consumers
For this CPU test, did you apply all the security fix for Intel CPUs?
I just ordered my r5 3600 and a asus tuf x570 mobo. I currently running a i5 6600k and evga z170 ftw mobo. My VERY FIRST AMD build. I'm tired of over paying for intel and I hope they wake up and we the consumer get a true competitive cpu market.
Hope you have some high speed RAM, 3200+, to really get blown away by performance
Sadly ryzen 3000 doesnt overclock verry well. Max 4.2-4.3 on all cores according to derb8uer, and it doesn't matter wich one so ryzen 5, 7 or 9.
On all cores though, the same can't be said for Intel's price comparable offerings
Might want to watch De8auer’s video before you get too excited about overclocking
Just came from there myself...
Well there is just no reason to manually overwrite all the powersaving and boost mechanics by overclocking manually. The performance out of the box is great and changes in the windows scheduler will be a huge benefit to AMD.
@@RyTrapp0 true, in a perfect world the clock would already be pushed as high as stability will allow by the manufacturer so you don't leave performance on the table.
The first PC I build included an AMD Thunderbird 850MHz, back in 2000. So I've always been partial to AMD. But I have been running Intel CPUs since 2010. Next year I plan to upgrade, think I'll switch back to AMD!

I love how far AMD has came. I remember the FX nightmare and I was laughing so hard at AMD while I was comfortably using Intel (forgot what CPU I had at the time). I love both companies because it gives competition and competitive pricing.
Haha it's true! Funny thing is the FX was still a great card for gaming, just hardcore fanboys and propaganda sent people directly to Intel. I used to be AMD, the first rig I ever built was AMD. The only reason any of us in the Counter-Strike community switched to Intel (2005ish) was because of stability imo. You wanted to be able to run Fraps and games at the same time, this was back then though, now you just record with the GPU. I just switched because I found a good deal and then wanted to run the same socket.
