This song represents their first refugee experience during the 2014 conflict with Russia imagined through the eyes of a child. The three straw figures at the tea party are all characters from an Ukrainian folktale. The dissonance in the opening was placed there to give the listener the same sense of unease as a child would when confronted with the reality of war. Good reaction
Yup, the band is from Ukraine 🇺🇦, and this song was written about the war & conflict that caused them to flee their homeland. Then, it unfortunately took on even more meaning with the recent war begun in Ukraine by Putin & his government. Atrocities have been committed in that armed campaign. This is my fave Jinjer track. Just love how damn low she growls at the end. She’s truly a beautiful beast.
There is an old fable about a dog, a rabbit and a tiger. The dog and rabbit live in a forest, and one day a tiger arrives in the forest. The dog and rabbit are sitting under a tree in the forest talking when the dog tells the rabbit that a ferocious tiger has been seen in the forest, and that tigers are predatory towards smaller animals. The rabbit gets scared and begs the dog to teach it how to defend itself against the tiger. The dog dismissively tells the rabbit that his tricks for getting away from the tiger are only for intelligent animals, and he does not think the rabbit is smart enough for him to learn the dog's tricks. Later, the tiger shows up and the rabbit digs a hole and evades the tiger out of instinct while the dog runs around aimlessly and is killed by the tiger. His unwillingness to communicate and share with his friend in the forest ultimately lead to his own death. In the case of this video, Tatiana (as a little girl having a tea party in her room) is being brainwashed by the TV in the background while hell goes on around her outside. The tea party scene ends with all of the animals dead from drinking the poison tea she has served them herself, leaving her alone and going insane in a room after killing off her stuffed animal friends
"Mermaid singing"= Sirens screaming (airalarm), "unicorns galloping"= soldiers marching(Russians). Everything is about Russia invading Ukraine ! Jinjer is a Ukranian band :-) At the end "this house is not a shelter anymore" ............. "homeless" 😞
