  • Finally, I got my hands on 32" 1440p screen. I can confidently say this is by far the best screen I owned. Great looks, solid build, amazing stand and pleasure to use.
    As always - if you have any questions or comments at all feel free to use comments section below. Enjoy!

    Thanks Ed. Very helpful review. I'm glad you demonstrated the viewing angle and the swivel, tilt and rotation functionality. I've just ordered one.

    I've had my steelseries mat for over 15 years and still counting! That's quality for you. When it needs a clean I just put it in the bath.

    Thanks for review. I agree it is fantastic for the price.
    That said, looked at directly , this is the most beautiful screen I’ve ever owned (I’ve obsessively returned over 10 screens in the past few years. The image depth brings forth details I’ve never noticed before in movies. Tom’s reading of 5500:1 contrast seems correct. I use for half movies half pc/gaming.
    I’ve been on a BenQ VA panel for a few years and this Philips is a great upgrade.
    It’s not very fast, but there’s less blur than my old BenQ, But my old BenQ has less input lag.
    Overall great buy for $309 plus tax.

      Some price... If I had an option of one I would get it again. I am on 1440p 27" Lenovo at the moment. Great screen but I liked extra size better. Especially for gaming it's amazing.
      To be honest I don't even remember angles being bad at all but I could be wrong.

    Nice. I have the same monitor and im really happy with. A bit slow for high fps gaming but overall a very good monitor. Love the stand

      Unfortunately I now have Samsung. Same type panel, similar stand. Much flimsier though. I miss my Philips one...

    Considering purchasing this monitor due to price and panel quality, as well as size and resolution being in my personal sweet spot for viewing and for gaming performance..
    I was also considering the BenQ BL3200PL, as other reviews mention better color quality, yet in my region I'm saving about 50 USD to get the Phillips instead plus since I'm afraid of getting screwed in the panel lottery I'm hoping my odds are better with the Phillips.
    The only thing I'm wondering about is potential ghosting/flicker/banding issues, and it would be lovely if you'd include more info in comments how it fared for you in high intensity games...
    Otherwise great review, thanks for the info, I don't usually comment either but I noticed no one had given you any feedback and I felt that was a shame especially given how much work you put into showing off the admittedly great stand that comes with the monitor.
    Personally I'll use a wall mount but having a great stand is important for most folks.
    Have a great end of summer!

      I have been gaming a bit on this monitor and I must say I had no issues with the panel. Granted it is not gaming display but still is quite good.
      I did get Samsung 32" 1440p afterwards and I am using it now. Might do a review coming weekend. I do find it more vivid, sharp and a bit faster.

    • @pimpmywiki
      @pimpmywiki 7 лет назад

      Ordered it, hopefully it'll be sufficient since gaming is mainly what I'll be using it for.. if not, I guess I can always ship it back and get a different monitor at the cost of some work and shipping expense..
      I'll definitely check the Samsung 32" when you get a review up.. later!

    Hi, thank you for your review ! However, I haven't been able to figure out out if this great monitor has a MATTE panel with no reflections when you're working on it, or a bright panel where you can see yourself quite often. Could you please tell me more about this ? Thanks !

    • @Edsdrafts
      @Edsdrafts  7 лет назад +1

      This one is matte. Reflections are not an issue. I am not a big fan myself of glossy displays.

      I have this mmonitor for some years. When I had a white wall behind me, I could see myself and it was disturbing when working in dark mode in daylight. It is matte, so your reflection is fuzzy, but it is there.

    Hi, very nice review for a seemingly very good display? Had you by chance the possibility to compare it with its new 4K follow-up the 328P6VJEB? It has VA panel too, but somehow the few videos that are available show an image that is definitely not on par as this one as far a contest and punchlines perception goes, so I was wondering which would be the best choice for me at the end.

    • @Edsdrafts
      @Edsdrafts  7 лет назад

      Hi. Thank you. Unfortunately not as I have to pay for nearly all items I review. I would say this monitor is a solid choice if you don't need over 60Hz unit but need decent resolution, big area and affordability. Anywhere up from there I would look into IPS and 4k with over 60Hz if possible.

    • @admiralvontirpitz7115
      @admiralvontirpitz7115 7 лет назад

      Thanks for the prompt answer, I really like to stay on a VA panel this time, got tired of sub-par black and contrast levels.. At the end which one was the 32" VA display that pleased you more? This or the Samsung? Or something else?

    • @admiralvontirpitz7115
      @admiralvontirpitz7115 7 лет назад

      Thanks for the prompt answer, this round Iwould really like to stay on a VA panel, as I got tired of IPS subpar black levels and reduced contrast. Which one was the best 32" inch VA that you tested at the end?

    • @Edsdrafts
      @Edsdrafts  7 лет назад

      ***** I am using Samsung D850 something something... But to be honest I liked this Philips more in terms of overall construction and feel. Panel wise probably doesn't matter.
      But yes, 32" 1440p looks stunning. Especially in gaming. Also great for working in Windows or using CS Cloud or even MS Office suite.

      Sorry for delay. I have tested this and Samsung. Both pretty nice monitors for work and movies / games.

    using it 1 year for 3d modeling/sculpting/texturing - the perfect monitor for this price, if you plan to get it go for powerful graphic card - i am experiencing some lag when working in 2d apps like Photoshop and paint mode inside Substance painter for example with 1080 Gtx from asus ( i will get one more and go sli:) (on 4k only) BDM3275 4K 10 bit

    • @Edsdrafts
      @Edsdrafts  7 лет назад +2

      Photoshop unfortunately just like most Adobe apps is not well optimised and is a resource hog. You need to throw tons of RAM and have a very fast CPU. GPU would not show much improvement going from GTX 1050 up. Maybe in premiere but even then...

    Hello! Thanks for review!
    Bought this one today and I do have banding problems, especially with darker grey gradients. Tries every setting, ICC profiles and DP, HDMI, DVI inputs, Nvidia settings - no luck!
    I haven't this problem on my previous Benq GW2760HS (VA) and that was from 2013.
    Any help? How is yours?

    • @Edsdrafts
      @Edsdrafts  6 лет назад

      I had mine for brief period, then Samsung with same panel now looking for an upgrade. I saw minor banding but this is normal. I know it annoys the hell of some but there just isn't a panel for this price that does it all.

    • @Edsdrafts
      @Edsdrafts  6 лет назад

      I am not sure we are on same page regarding the issue. I mean grey uniformity. Bigger screen means harder to implement even backlight hence uneven grey background with some patches.
      I have looked at few top end TVs in the store that people also use as monitors and grey uniformity is horrible. That's just how anything but OLED works.

    Do you think this photo would be good for photo editing? Most of people recommend IPS monitors for this....

    • @Edsdrafts
      @Edsdrafts  7 лет назад

      Oh yes it is. Color accuracy and reproduction is very good. Obviously not on par with professional monitors but good enough for amateur work. Viewing angles nearly as good as IPS and besides - you wouldn't edit your photos looking at it from 45% + angle.

  • @vladimirljubopytnov5193
    @vladimirljubopytnov5193 3 года назад

    They declare 1:6000 contrast. I was disappointed, mine has strong backlight glow at 75% brightness. To the point that I think its an IPS.

  • @neolam

    may i know whats your monitor setting for brightness , contrast and etc??

    • @Edsdrafts
      @Edsdrafts  7 лет назад +1

      I usually set contrast and brightness to around 50% and then drop down brightness if needed. Unfortunately I now have Samsung model so can't comment. If you can - get a calibration tool to properly set it up for your needs.

    How's input lag in gaming and the like?

    • @Edsdrafts
      @Edsdrafts  7 лет назад

      As it's not a gaming monitor it's the usual. Not bad but nothing to be crazy about either. It's average. For gaming go for high Hz monitor and expect to lose picture quality (colour accuracy). Unless you have money to spend.

    • @Edsdrafts

      Perfectly fine. Depends on what you need I guess, more than 60Hz is no go but for me that's not an issue.

    very miss leading, you say "say this is by far the best screen I owned" but then in your video you have to return to Phillips!

    • @Edsdrafts
      @Edsdrafts  7 лет назад

      Screen yes as it is same panel as Philips. For some reason I do lean towards Philips though. It just seemed to have a nicer design.
