I tried to get my Prestige Pica element installed, but it wouldn't go on easily, so I threw it away. If an element doesn't go on easily, you shouldn't force it. It could be extremely difficult to remove if forced on.
I just got one of these Selectrics at an Office Supply Thrift Store last week, and I am taking it into a typewriter repair shop tomorrow to see what kind of repairs are necessary for it. I have always loved these typewriters! I enjoyed your video!
We used these back in high school in the 80's for typing class. Man these things were built like tanks!!!!
Boy, this takes me back. My first summer job was at the USDA in Chicago in 1977, and the office had Selectrics just like this. (I think we had one Mag Card machine.) They were the Rolls-Royce of electric typewriters back then.
those days of typewriters 😍🙏
I love the IBM Selectric!
I love the correcting selectric
Gotta love the Selectric.
Either your mic is placed wrong or your machine needs service ! A properly serviced selectric never sounded this bad. I was an IBM service tech for 30 years and serviced thousands of these machines, call for help soon!
After listening again, I can guarantee you are missing a tooth on your main drive belt.
Price of this red IBM typewwriter?
I have used this one, but really cannot they were this noisy.
Is it using Beamspring switches?

Um, we tend to use "jumps" over the lazy old doggie, else there ain't no ''s'
