I have been a bicycle rider for 60 years, and you are right, Citizen. It is often much safer if you can keep up with traffic instead of hugging the side while cars try to pass. Some of the cars that pass you that way will then immediately make a right turn directly across your path because they already forgot you were there. There used to be a tool philosopher on TV named Tim Taylor who spread the word about more power being a good thing. He was right.
I absolutely agree 👍 I've been building them for 50 years and still ride a big old fat tire ebike! The law is an ass when it comes to ebikes... they'll let 16 year old kids drive a Ferrari at 200 but an old guy like me has to putter along at 32! Ridiculous!
If you can't handle riding at bike speeds along streets then get a motorcycle. Riding fast in bike lanes isn't safe for bike riders that are slower. If someone makes a right turn in front of you when you are going 40mph on a fast e-bike that'll be worse than if you're going slower on either a bike or a slower e-bike. You're argument is senseless. More power in bike lanes will kill you or some hapless bike rider.
If anyone's thinking of getting this bike* and/or riding in traffic, please PLEASE wear an actual motorcycle helmet when riding. 1) Regular bike helmets are only rated safe up to 14mph. Flying out of your seat at 30-40mph with that little plastic basket means a crushed skull. 2) When riding in traffic, the car that hits you WILL be going faster than 14mph, and will instantly accelerate your body to their speed. Not only do you get the impact of them hitting you, you additionally get the impact of you flying into something else--like the asphalt, a telephone pole, the curb--at whatever speed the car was going. Again, a plastic basket won't save you. *Or any Class 3 or "Unclassified" ebike
actually, so what? Sorry, but even if I was on a regular motorcycle I wouldn't want a helmet. One is not required in all States, for good reason. I can hear what's going on around me better without the helmet, one of many reasons. There are trade-offs to everything. I'm not living my life being boxed in by what others think. And I don't go around telling people to focus on worst case scenarios that are low probability of happening. 😠 YOU can do what you want. However, don't expect others to ignore their own reasons.
@@bosthebozo5273 I had a friend who was killed four years ago, while on his motorcycle. Helmets are not required in this State, but he was wearing a helmet; still dead. Happened at a wide open level crossroad ... either he didn't see or didn't hear the vehicle coming that hit him. Both senses are impaired by helmets at a crossroad, so death was caused by the helmet. Live life, don't play defense every day thinking you can change fate. You can't.

The speed factor is a valid point.Too often I was close to getting hit from behind because my E bike couldn’t keep up with the flow of traffic.’Share the road’ stickers mean nothing to people in a hurry.
For the viewers: Had a 750w, 32mph beast for a couple weeks now..first ebike, but not my first time going fast on two wheels.. Here's my two cents.. YES, GET THAT 40 if you can afford it. Trust me. Im not disappointed in my bike or anything.. but i can say that 40 is the sweet spot.
I got the Vitilan V3 and its 32mph but most times its at about 28mph so yes Im looking to get a 40mph bike instead now after riding for 5 months and having times where I could have used more speed..
@@apparentlynot1stLeonchubbsyess imagine getting a 500 watt 28 mph e bike it's still good I ain't hating on slow e bikes cuz there's still awesome it's legit a bike that gives u sum power any ebike I'd take lol I just ordered a e bike dirt bike hybrid that goes 50 mph dual suspension I'm happy I got my 500 watt tho cuz it folds up and can fit in my car nicely ima use my e dirt bike to ride om the streets and my 500 watt foldable e bike in my trunk for trails and when I take my dogs for rides
Thanks primarily to your videos, I recently ordered a Wired Freedom cruiser in titian. I'm an older guy getting back into biking for fun and exercise and need something strong enough to help make hills with my 69 year old 250 lb frame. I was going to buy the Beecool Explorer but one of your videos showed me it wasn't strong enough on hills. Thanks for all of the good information you've provided.
I too like that speed but it comes with other things to consider. Drivers aren't use to a bicycle going that fast so you have to be aware and prepared for how they're going to react. Also, you need to be prepared for hitting the pavement at those speeds (been there done that it's no fun). I now personally wear a full MTB helmet, elbow & knee pads, just in case.
Every 38+ mph video should start out with this exact statement "Drivers aren't used to seeing a bicycle going that fast, so you have to be aware, and prepared for how they're going to react. Also, you need to be prepared for hitting the pavement at those speeds" Well written advice that will save lives! Thank you for your time!
The best way to stay safe is keep it low powered awhile till you get to handling the bike well and increase the power gradually it works well for me on the few I rode
And gloves? Since we got our class 1 e-bike, I always wear gloves now, even when on my non electric bike. Only needed them once this year pulling off a soft & steep shoulder, but would have skinned my palm without them when the gravel slid out from under me.
I agree the extra speed capability can be a safety feature. The extra power also comes in handy for group rides when someone breaks down. You can get to them quickly, and if you need to tow them back, it's not a struggle. Plus there's the benefits that makes you able to ride with a variety of other bikes. Our city group ride is easy going and you don't even need an e-bike for it, but last week I was carving through the woods at night with Sur Ron's and stunt bikes, and it was easy keeping up with them.
I looked at this bike, but i am in Ontario they dont ship to canada. However i am a first time ebike iwner and biught the fabulous ebike havoc xtreme 48 vold 1000w. Can hit 30mph, very powerful and fun. I would take 40mph over 30, but still, its so much fun and such a good bike. I ride about 25miles a day just for joy. Lol. Thanks for the Video❤
I'm forever arguing that point with the bike reviewers and others..The danger lies in being passed by every distracted, angry and overly stressed drivers...Some drivers like to see how close they can come to you, others think you have no right to be on the road, others are eating or texting or are drunk or high or shouldn't even be on the road for a variety of reasons...I'll take the speed and ability to keep up with traffic any day...
I agree with the higher top speed argument. There is the issue that know one is expecting something that looks like a bicycle plus the low noise it makes. You will find that traffic will still try overtaking because it looks like a bicycle.
This is a small modification, but I moved my screen down over the stem like most bikes have it. I like freeing up the top bar for use, looks, and it’s more protected if you flip the bike on the handlebars
Couldn’t agree more and thank you again for your videos or I would not have found this bike. It is so much fun!! My neighbor bought two and has a third on order. So much better than any 48 volt bike that I feel sorry for those without the power. Crazy good bike for $2,000, people should be happy to wait 8 weeks cause there ain’t anything close at this price. I put on some cheap turn signals which help in traffic and a Suntour seat post. I am thinking of switching to 26x3.5 road tires when I change tires to get more speed, range, and rear linkage travel. Really like the suspension on roads and sidewalks, keeps the bike glued to the road. The post just makes it that more cushy.
I have a class 1 Co-op CTY e1.1 ebike. Rode it for a year to work. I purchased a Ride1Up LMT'D bike that I now use as my commuter. The speed difference between 20 and 30MPH is insane. I feel way more comfortable riding in Raleigh going 25-30 than I did going 15-20MPH. I can't imagine riding down that way on roads where traffic goes 45+.
Agree but using the logic of being able to keep up with traffic it's just as reasonable to justify 60mph, 80mph, or even 90mph. I'll be happy with 65-75mph... until I can afford a full-blown premium touring electric motorcycle with side car at which point the would be rural freeway/highway speeds 90-120mph
another great vid you were one of the reasons i bought two of these beast the second reason is the service is unmatched its worth the wait i almost bought a Kepler until i read some sketchy reviews and I'm so glad i waited my wife who is 5'3 loves her bike just rode 40 miles and still had half the battery left guys its worth the wait
Many rural roads here in Lehigh Valley, PA, have no road shoulder for me to safely ride further and longer. Speed allows me to move with traffic flow in areas without a shoulder. Thank you for confirming my argument for speed.
I always ride with the traffic when I first started riding my ebike I used sidewalks and crosswalks and I almost got hit a number of times . A real game changer for me was when I started wearing a safety vest cars are way more careful and giving me a wide berth when passing
THIS right here is my main issue with the laws around me saying I can only go 28 MPH on a ebike with 750 watts. while forcing me onto the roads where people are going 35+ easy... and then banning me from sidewalks. stupid laws and government I swear...
Try being in UK. We have 250w limit and throttles only allowed upto 3.7mph lmao. No assistance whatsoever over 15.5mph. Ours truly sucks. Anything more we have to register, do a CBT, put plates on and pay tax and insurance lol
@@gentleoutdoorsin the UK tho we don't care do we my electric bike goes 45 mph everyone's jamming about on surrons and the fastest ur allowed to go is 15.5mph 😂
I have been riding a 52 stealth bomber every where. I have two on my Rv. Never hada issue in any state. I have no plates, never wear a helmet. And can do almost anything 60 mph. The only time I ever get stopped is because the cops love my bike.
I totally agree with you. Nice to have power and speed when you need it. If there are speed limits on bike paths or trails then be follow that limit, otherwise you might screw it up for everyone.
I agree, this bike is perfect for my city New York City where the speed limit is 25 mph on 90 percent of the roadways, so I can flow comfortable with traffic.
Thanks for review ,I love riding on two wheels ,a couple things to realize , knobbie tires are not good on streets especially when wet or on turns .I also use back brake first then front brake at stops . Stats show if you are in motor bike accident you are 27 times more likely to die without a helmet on. This bike is for advanced riders, ride safe my friends.
Another need for speed - when you come across mama bear and her 2 cubs she's protecting on that rail-to-trail pathway, miles deep in the woods. I do believe 40 mph would outrun her attack sprint
In Canada we are limited to 32kph (20mph) on public roads. 500 watt motor. It's the law. I have two Chinese e-bikes. One can go 63kph. (39mph) has a 1000 watt motor . Looks like a regular 7 speed bicycle with 4'' wide fat tires. Great for snow. The other resembles a motorcycle. Has a 500watt motor and can hit 55kph ( 34mph). Speed adjustable via Bluetooth app. The extra speed and torque is necessary for maneuvering traffic. I just have to keep an eye out for you know who.
definitely seems like a great bike. I just wonder if I would rather have a torque sensor though.. what are your thoughts on the cadence sensor they use on it and potential of how a torque sensor might do? thanks
I built my ebike out a regular 29 inch mountain bike and i purchased the kit on ebay its a 48 v it goes 31 mph its such a rush to have a powerful e bike i will upgrade the motor to 60 or 70 volts in the future love it cant get enough of accessories for ebike and upgrades
Puting those spoke skins on really looks incredible! I had know idea how well it dresses up the bike! This is a very good bike to get and upgrade things as you go.
It's less dangerous until it goes wrong...Mine does 20mph with me on it and that's plenty fast enough. I use the "throttle-only" mostly to get the wheels up to speed from standstill.
You live in boonies with faster roads. Probably boonies close to town. The same argument applies for getting a 28-30mph bike in urban areas with slightly slower fast roads. For urban areas, torque (not that freedom lacks any) is more important. With pedaling you want 0-20 in 6 seconds or so, so that you can fly ahead of traffic either at light change, or for fast long road, or highway ramp clearing, wait for red for traffic behind you. The reason you don't want a 40mph bike is that going that fast will burn through battery fast, in addition to not needing access to roads with that speed. If you want to tour accross all road types, you'd want to save range. 30mph is fast enough to let cars pass you slowly and be more patient as to when to pass.
Don’t have to use the speed if you don’t need it. I ride 15-20 mph but can easily burst to 40 if needed. The Wired goes 0-30 in about nine seconds and has more torque than advertised because the 100nm is for a 48v version. 28mph will get you killed on a 30mph road from pissed off drivers whereas at 35mph your in the flow of Traffic. God forbid your on a hill with a 750watt 48v system trying to keep up with traffic. On a Wired, you can fit right in.
I like the blue and the spokeskins, my only concern riding around Asheville, NC with it as flashy and noticeable as that is the bike won't be there if you ever stop anywhere ;)
It’s amazing how far electric battery and engine tech has come in the last decade or two. 10 years ago a bike like this would’ve cost 10X as much if not more
@@CitizenCycle925 yes. I'm 230 , bike has two batteries. One from UPP batteries is in a bag on the rack. Pulls the front end up very easy and I've only been on a 40 mile run so far since extra 24ah battery and still showing 4 bars. 45 mph I've hit on flat surface. Very easy to add battery with fusion combiner. Unbelievable difference and I spent 500$ and 30 minutes to install.
Spoke Skins are cool BUT if you put them on you need to remember to take them off now and then and clean up your spokes. Over time water WILL get inside and they'll actually corrode your spokes and make them look pretty gnarly. You're not going to rust spokes but they certainly won't be shiny and pretty after awhile. The other question I'd have is how many times you can take them off and put them back on again before they no longer fits snugly and will start falling off?q So to me it kind of seems like a more of a hassle then the cool look is worth but to each their own and maybe you "got time for that." I'm definitely in the "ain't nobody got time for that" category. 😂
I swapped my bars and stem to mountainbike bars and stem. looks and feels more natural to me esp since i have a hard tail mountain bike. I wanna get a dropper seatpost so its easier to get on and off the bike but get into a seat height that's good for pedaling. lastly I wanna come up with a better headlight mount. It keeps flopping down even tightly cranked
Might be a good idea to swap to street tires if you're not gonna offroad this bike. Like you said, it's fast enough to use the roads so no more cutting through parks.
@@CitizenCycle925 bikes are meant to go downhill. 50mph on road cycling thin tires is something they do in sprints. Downhills at 100kmh happen. Thicker tires will naturally do better.
@@CitizenCycle925 Proper smaller low rolling resistance tires make a large difference in terms of speed, efficiency and most importantly, lower noise :)
@CitizenCycle925 I don't really think our bike tires have any structural integrity worries up to speeds of at least 60mph. But many of the knobby fat tires that come on bikes are so out of round and out of balance that they make the bike vibrate by the time you get to 30mph. Out of balance is understandable and can be corrected, but I think not being round is an unforgivable flaw in a tire. All of the street tires that I have tried so far have been nice and round. But a lot of the fat tire knobbies that I have looked at will be up to about 1/4 inch out of round. When out of round tires are mounted on a hub motor, you can hear it when the motor is running. Instead of a smooth hum, you get a cyclic noise from the motor that matches wheel rpm as the diameter varies.
I just got a Philodo AWD, it's a great bike, i will be modifying stuff on it. I already replaced the standard chainrings, i now have 48 tooth top chainring. It happily sits at 20mph without throttle.
I really like wired's bike, the only think keeping me from pulling the trigger is lack of a front rack point . its on the comparison list and still might be my next ebike, but i want it as a daily commuter and a front and rear cargo basket is hard to give up.
@@cephalonpobs5275 you would think, but i have not found a front rack that works on a fat tire bike with a front suspension. a lot of ebike companites pit bolt mounts on the triangle, but wired does not so even a big front basket is not possible
Stahp STAHP I already ordered one(blue of course), now ya gotta taunt me while I have to wait for it to arrive!? 🤣 Seriously though, the folks at Wired may owe you a bit of a kickback at this point, I’m sure your reviews and comparisons have helped a lot! And to your point on having that power available, I’ve said the same with my (EV) car. The thing is *so* fast, I can safely enter any stream of traffic without causing anyone to brake or dodge, and if needed, I can overtake/dodge/jump ahead of a vehicle that may be slow, erratic, on fire, whatever, rather than being forced to stay behind. And of course it’s fun! I’m in an area where I’d have to dodge cars, golf carts, many other cyclists, and potentially bears when I hit trails, so I’ll take all the power I can get. “With great power comes great restraint to not go ludicrous speed everywhere.” I think that’s how that saying goes, right?
@@NathanMiller-v4r There's no specific ETA on my order (that I see), just the "Expected to Ship August, 2023" banner on the site for the Wired Freedom.
After having mine for about a month, I love it (even though it suffered some damage in shipping). The only thing I've noticed is it could really use an 8th gear. 7th with PAS 5 has you peddling just a little too much IMO. I've also found the power/speed really comes in handy when trying to get across several lanes of traffic from a stop sign where the cross traffic doesn't stop.
It would be better with a 11-32 or 11-28 rear freewheel. They cost $30 on Amazon and I will probably swap it out when I change my rear tire. I am used to pedaling at a 80-100 cadence from road biking so I still have feeling into the 30’s but would like that 11 tooth in the rear for faster.
Yes yes yes I love my wired freedom as far as traffic it absolutely keeps cars off of your fenders . I had a guy today merge from the left side of the road through his near lane and all the way into mine nearly running right into me so I just twisted the throttle all the way to avoid him and thank God I had the power to pass him . What an idiot he swerved all the way into my lane then all the way back into the empty lane he had no business getting out of . He acted like he had to have 3 lanes just come across traffic . Your spoke skins look alright for your bike .
I just did my first full throttle and pedal speed test on the Kepler. I'm 60 years old and not so fit. I did 39.5 mph on a flat stretch. Lol.. No joke. Fun stuff! First time I really tried to see what I could get. I could input power at 39 mph still in 7th gear. Oh 38 mph was about tops not pedaling for a bit. After or at 70% battery, the Kepler is still good for 34-35 mph no pedaling always.
If you had a 60v system, you’d have full power for the whole battery. Have you regressed your Kepler motor yet? Hearing Ariel Rider is having issues with controllers catching fire on the Grizzly among and that their customer service has really tanked as their business grows. Let me know what your top speed is after charging the pack 10 times. Lots of reports of the bike losing performance after only a handful of charges.
The proof is in pudding. My guess is the vast majority of owners don’t know they have to re grease the motors and problems may start to emerge as the fleet of Kepler’s hit 2000 miles. I’m going to check my Wired at 1000miles. From the videos I’ve seen, the Wired motor is good for 5000miles before re greasing IF properly greased to begin with.
Lovin my new bike. 40 mph+ and goes right up hills 72 volts 45 amp controller. Keep right up with traffic. If I didn’t have to wait so long I would have got a wired.

The WIRED cruiser would be a great candidate for weight reduction since it only has front suspension. Like you said remove fenders and rack then one could replace front suspension with a carbon fiber fork then put 26 fat bike tpu tubes (they actually exist) and the lightest 26 fat tire you can find to reduce rolling resistant and weight!
Went for a bike ride on Sunday , came home and parked it in the garage , Tuesday I wanted to go for a ride and noticed my rear tire was FLAT, had a staple in it . Come on all you old folks gotta admit that this is acgually really intriguing. If you dont have or want to drive to keep your car in good condition and dont wanna rack up alot of miles..you could hop on your ebike and take the scenic route. Even motorcycle enthusiats gotta admif this shit tight.
Oh yeah I def agree with the speed when you have those 35 and 40mph roads bro. It’s just more safe to be able to stay with traffic I stead so many different drivers passing you🤷♂️Nust my opinion though I agree with you because yes it is tons of fun on top of that lolol
Even if you never ride over 30mph, I rarely do, the power of the Wired bikes is awesome. The acceleration, hill climbing ability, and range destroys every 48v or 52v competitor.
Great bike. How about fitting front and rear dash cameras from a motorcycle. Most of these units are 5 v so I use a power bank. If an ebike has a usb charging port I wire it to that. Those with the display, some people have the rear camera on screen and use it as a form of rear view mirror.
Dude 40 miles is not even an argument i feel that its a necessity. I live in los angeles California and though i too drive a car, not everyone is nice to bicyclists but the reason why is because alot of bicyclists also like to run red lights and feel they don't have to follow the rules of the rode. I have an E Scooter and i see the other guys with faster scooters than mine going 60Mph and swerving through lanes and running red lights. Since i got a wife and 3 kids to support im obviously not going to be reckless with my bike or e scooter lol i want to make home alive. 😅 but i live the power of that bike! 🤩
I was gonna buy one of these bikes but I was hearing all kinds of horror stories about magnets coming loose in the motors, cheesy build quality etc, etc... I bought a Freesky Swift Horse, and I'm super happy with it. It'll go 45 mph down a hill too. It has a 30 amp controller, 1000 watt Bafang motor and I know it's not gonna fall apart on me. That bike right there ain't gonna last long so enjoy it while you can.
I’m in a Wired group on FB and no one has has any Motor issues that I’ve ever seen. The build is solid with the only exception being the placement of the controller being kinda close to the back tire.
@@dalewomble218They did have issues with a few motors in their first batch not having the magnets properly glued during the manufacture. The motor itself is an outstanding design that uses metal reinforced hybrid gears and can handle 3000 watts continuous and supposedly lasts for over 25,000 miles. I'm 54 and I have a Rumble Motor Apex. I've gotten the bike up to 41/42 mph once on a straight away. I'm 6' at 205lbs. The area I live in because of the pace, you really need a e-bike that goes at 35mph. They have renewed the road ways, and are finally making some descent bike lanes. We really need to come together on the e-bike situation, because we have younger people doing wheelies on main roads, bunny hopping off of curbs, and riding on sidewalks. None of this is helping our cause. They are already trying to ban e-bikes all over.
No. I live in an isolated small desert town. The city has no rules for any ebikes they're considered bicycles. My 500 watt peak 1000 watt hub motor fat tire ebike gets me to 18.9 mph in pas 3. Crashing at even 10 mph, I'd be crippled worse. I'm over 65, I don't go over 18mph. I ride sidewalks and dirt trails. My ebike will go 28mph class 3. If i had to ride in streets I wouldn't of bought one. Sidewalks, bike paths it's all good. 40mph is insane on a bike. Be safe!
My 20 year old daily driver truck finally broke something in the shifting linkage. If I didn't have my ebike, I'd be walking 3 miles to the store right now. I'll never sell mine. In fact, I'm getting a cargo ebike as I give up driving at 65 and a pull trailer to haul water. It's 101 degrees right now. Stay safe.
I would even pay another grand for a 72v version with 30 amp-hr battery, 40 amp controller and 2500w rear hub motor. I own 2 BBSHD mid drive bikes with about 2000 watts each. People that come from a motorcycle background like you and me, we enjoy the flexibility of power and being able to keep up with cars on a 40-45 mph road. A counterpoint is...for the kind of riding you show, I prefer something like a gas powered Honda Grom for about $4K. About 10 hp and 60mph or so. Better brakes and lighting. Will do 100 miles on a gallon of gas. Thanks for the review. PS. I am not a spoke covering kind of guy. Not for me...but I agree with the rest of the review.
I had a z125 pro at one point which was a lot of fun but ultimately the ebikes ended up replacing it. Now I just keep my Versys650 for when I want motorcycle speeds and the e bikes take care of the slow speed fun.
Sorry if this has already been addressed but I wanted to know if there is any ghost pedaling when not utilizing the throttle. I love to pedal and be engaged with the bike. I know your style of riding is typically full throttle but would love to find out if you have experienced any ghost pedaling. Would love to hear your feeback on this. Yet again, love your videos!
Depends on the bike. I can get 45 on my ariel rider kepler on flats ( more on downhill ) but there isnt any extra acceleration when i let go of throttle and don’t pedal. There’s still inertia , drag and gravity of course. No ghost pedaling to speak of.
I do!!! Bro where I live it's not bike friendly so you have to be able to get out of the way. My first bike was a moped style class 20 mph and 28mph at full power...not enough!! Road speeds here are no less than 55mph, so now the moped is just for the parks and I bought a bomber that hits 65mph. I don't always use the 65mph but it's good to know it's there when I need it😂
I noticed you seem to be either on or off the throttle... Does it function like an on/off switch, or can you turn it just a little for a little bit of power?
Can think of several reasons to have that speed/power. For example - you're out riding, the weather starts looking bad - and you want to beat it home. Or - you just need to get somewhere by a specific time and would typically take a car or motorcycle. Now - this becomes an option.... bottom line - love the power. Where is this all headed? 50 MPH? 60 MPH?????...... Seems like the technology can get there. I am amazed.
I agree...sometimes you need to keep up with traffic. How fast does this bike go uphill? And what is the range? The biggest issues I have with factory ebikes is the small capacity of t he battery and weight of the bicycle.
I'm returning to bikes, after 40 years not riding. Just bought an Aventon Aventure II, and having a blast with it unlocked. Now a month later, I find out about the Wired Freedom's performance? Not fair! lol (although I will say, at these speeds we're gonna attract some attention from authorities we don't want paying attention to us) Never heard of spoke skins, I will now look into that for my bike. I have the cobalt blue on my Aventure II. How well do they hold up after washing dirt and grime from wheels?
Thank You for the info on spoke skins!! I never heard of them, so I ordered some yellow ones. I just ordered my 1st E-bike 2 days ago, and it's black. I wanna dress it up in Steelers colors!!
Wow 40 mph. I am already with a 28-31 mph $800 ebike and it gets me across 10 miles in around 22-30 minutes. I agree that staying with traffic is safer than going slower than traffic as you would have to ride on the side more often and about 90% of drivers do not look at their right before turning right if we have to ride on the wrong side of the street.
I like the e bike have longer frame. My SMLRO has strong motor but i sit to close to handlebar so when purchase a e bike we must look at frame size and position on the bike
Is it a winning argument? Well, it is certainly a good argument. Interesting timing. I just did a couple of videos on speed of some of the E bikes. I believe this is a blast as well. My concern is more over what happens when people start getting hurt, then lobbyist get involved, soon, we end up with regulations like they have in Europe. 250 W Max. So while I think this is a cool bike, and I have no problem with the speed on it. We all know how litigious we have become. When that factor comes in, it worries me for the whole industry.
You are aware that UL compliance is already being debated, due to the # of NYC fire department call outs for battery-recharge fires? Agree with you that we need to keep some of this peformance capability out of mainstream awareness, or regulation follows.
@@rayrussell6258 that is my point exactly Ray. If common sense was still common, we would not need this discussion. I think this is a really cool bike. However, once that door gets opened up to regulations. We all have to look out.

If E-bikes weren't capped at 15 mph over here, I'd feel safer on the roads. Even if i could only go 25-30 mph, it would cut so much time off my commute to work, and anywhere else i had to go.

It’s a 1200 watt hour battery!! I went on a 20 mile ride today in PAS 1 and 2 going 15-20mph and used about 25% of the battery. Needed to hop on a main road at the end and did 35mph for the last mile. Better to have the speed and not need it than get creamed by a car cause you don’t.
I love the color and the speed of the Freedom but it's like a 2 month or more wait, which makes the Kepler look pretty tempting, I've seen the Kepler do 40+ as well, and did I mention I have to purchase 2 of them 🤔 my wife wants one too...
The Kepler’s are not going to last long because their motors use nylon gears. You need to repack the motor every thousand miles or you’ll melt your gears. That combined with the customer service horror stories I’ve head about Ariel Rider made my decision. In addition, the Wired absolutely crushes the Kepler on hills. I hear the Kepler’s lose top speed after a few charges which indicates they use cheap batteries.
wait i also looked at the Kepler until i seen bad reviews on the bafang motor not working out of the box and in the review one guy said it took weeks to get a answer and months to get a replacement you can call wired any time of day or nite and they respond i have spoken to them four or five times the service is unmatched wait lol
Suggestions for any 2" to 4" tire size ebikes for mild trails and gravel roads for less than $800? Range at least 25 miles. It's for my gf and I don't think she is going to use it past 20mph (nor should she lol), or often, so I want to stay $800 or lower, and low frame or step-thru even better. Would like 5 or more gears for pedaling. Thanks!
That looks like a great bike. Personally I would ride in the middle of the road if you're keeping up with traffic or going faster than traffic. If I don't do that around here, I get people passing me dangerously close by.
Spoke skins are COOL for sure. My 3 e-bikes all got them and lots of compliments came with them also. I got some blue and white too. They were a biatch to put on.
Just 1 question does the pedal assist level control the speed? Some bikes like Rad,Juiced, ride 1 up you have full throttle 0 to 20 in any assist level and if you pedal hard in a higher gear you go fast but some bikes like the Vitalan will only throttle like 7 miles on hour in pedal assist 1 you have to keep changing the assist level which well sucks
Fully programmable anyway you want, he did a programming video on this bike. It comes set with full throttle available and imitation torque sensor which gives you a fixed wattage at each assist level, works great and can be dialed into your specific needs.
Uhhh uhhh uhhh ;)
I absolutely agree 👍 I've been building them for 50 years and still ride a big old fat tire ebike! The law is an ass when it comes to ebikes... they'll let 16 year old kids drive a Ferrari at 200 but an old guy like me has to putter along at 32! Ridiculous!
I get it but with that logic and factoring in dumb people we will get fined, required to have insurance or taxed in no time.
Oh wow that's was kind of an old show but being at 66 it seems like time is flying faster and faster and faster and then I'll be gone

More speed doesn't mean safer riding, it simply means you'll hit harder.
I looked at this bike, but i am in Ontario they dont ship to canada. However i am a first time ebike iwner and biught the fabulous ebike havoc xtreme 48 vold 1000w.
Exactly. Too many Biden voters out there driving and being selfish
“Do I really need one…” -> Yes
Agree but using the logic of being able to keep up with traffic it's just as reasonable to justify 60mph, 80mph, or even 90mph.

Another need for speed - when you come across mama bear and her 2 cubs she's protecting on that rail-to-trail pathway, miles deep in the woods. I do believe 40 mph would outrun her attack sprint
For sure always a 10mm is good to have!

0:11 its called a motorcycle or scooter and yes for many it is necessary.

The other question I'd have is how many times you can take them off and put them back on again before they no longer fits snugly and will start falling off?q So to me it kind of seems like a more of a hassle then the cool look is worth but to each their own and maybe you "got time for that." @@CitizenCycle925 bikes are meant to go downhill.
@@jimmyjames8736 To be fair, that's mainly because of tire tread choice and most importantly, wheel trueness.

@@jfly2249 I have seen 2 videos of Kepler owners greasing gears. Not sure what mileage they did theirs at.
I think that Fabulous Road Warrior X2 would be an upgrade worth considering from the Kepler. Otherwise I'm good and happy.
Lovin my new bike. 40 mph+ and goes right up hills 72 volts 45 amp controller. Keep right up with traffic. If I didn’t have to wait so long I would have got a wired.
what bike did you get?
@@CitizenCycle925 GT aggressor pro hard tail mountain bike. It’s a DIY e bike. I also have a KBO breeze. Still love the breeze when I want to go riding with my daughters. BTW love the channel. Your informative videos have helped a lot of people out, thank you
looks great, id be more interested in weight reduction. replace most bits with carbon fiber, toss the fenders and rack. That sort of stuff. Keep on riding, i enjoy your vids.
I have Flat Out in my tires of ALL my E bikes , so I pulled the staple out pointed the hole in the tire/tube down ward and pumped the tire back up letting Flat Out do its job. Today is Wednesday and still holden air . That is why I recommend this product . I did NOT patch the tube !!
We used to cut up skinny straws and put them on our spokes when we were kids.
Even if you never ride over 30mph, I rarely do, the power of the Wired bikes is awesome. The acceleration, hill climbing ability, and range destroys every 48v or 52v competitor.
LOL! You obviously don't know ebikes kid.
@@brianbassett4379what would be better? I’m kind of settling on this bike here but if there’s better please give examples. 😱
@@TheGodNC Escooters are much cheaper and faster for the price

Great bike. How about fitting front and rear dash cameras from a motorcycle. Most of these units are 5 v so I use a power bank. If an ebike has a usb charging port I wire it to that. Those with the display, some people have the rear camera on screen and use it as a form of rear view mirror.
Sounds like a pointless idea. Just use a mirror.
40mph should be the sweet spot. Can help you throttle out of sticky situations
I had not seen the freesky before, interesting ,as long as you're happy. That's all that matters.
The problem was addressed according to the owners, the manufacturer is replacing any bad motor cores and they have been assured the problem has been fixed with this and subsequent batches. The motor itself is an outstanding design that uses metal reinforced hybrid gears and can handle 3000 watts continuous and supposedly lasts for over 25,000 miles. My motor is perfect after 350 miles although it does sound a little different than a nylon gear motor especially when backing up. If I have a problem in the first year, I can easily get warranty service because they are in Chicago and I know where the guy lives 😂
@@jfly2249 Steve seems like a really great guy. I haven’t had any issues yet with my Freedom but others in the group who have, all swear that he is the best after sales person they have ever dealt with!
so i almost bought a ebike with the bafang until i read some bad reviews the wired had some issues with the first bikes and the issues were fixed also no one has better service so i bought two of them and they are tanks love them had no problems and the motor is built just for wired with the specs they wanted almost bought a Kepler until i read about motors not working out of the box and people waiting months to get a replacement wired great value
Be safe!
40mph on a bicycle is definitely not for everyone, but glad to hear you found a bike that works for you, you ride safe too!!
Also I will be reviewing a spark cycle bandit in the next coming weeks.😁
@@luzhang2982 ghost peddling means you're peddling but the motor is spinning the tire faster than the chain is.
You can ghost pedal with cadence based pedal assist. Torque sensor systems only assist when you're putting tension on the chain.
That is his style I guess. The throttle works just like your car. Nice and smooth.
you can modulate the throttle and just give a little bit if you want.
@CitizenCycle925 Okay, cool. Thanks! I've never owned an ebike, so i wasn't sure. I ordered one of these yesterday.
The speed is good too in case you are riding in a Democrat run city and encounter some pavement apes
Great review, thank you for sharing. How many years does this e-bike last by chance?
The spoke skin is really cool. I like how it matches the color up the bike
I agree...sometimes you need to keep up with traffic. How fast does this bike go uphill? And what is the range? The biggest issues I have with factory ebikes is the small capacity of t he battery and weight of the bicycle.
It doesn’t have a small battery. Check out the link to the bike in the description!
I'm returning to bikes, after 40 years not riding. Just bought an Aventon Aventure II, and having a blast with it unlocked. Now a month later, I find out about the Wired Freedom's performance? Not fair! lol (although I will say, at these speeds we're gonna attract some attention from authorities we don't want paying attention to us)
Never heard of spoke skins, I will now look into that for my bike. I have the cobalt blue on my Aventure II. How well do they hold up after washing dirt and grime from wheels?
They are not authorities. They are public servants.. Learn your place in society. You are the boss, and they work for you.

Thank You for the info on spoke skins!! I never heard of them, so I ordered some yellow ones. I just ordered my 1st E-bike 2 days ago, and it's black. I wanna dress it up in Steelers colors!!
i have 2 ebikes that are black with yellow spokes skins, it looks awesome! great color combo.

Wow 40 mph. I am already with a 28-31 mph $800 ebike and it gets
me across 10 miles in around 22-30 minutes.
@@southernebikingThe kids doing wheelies on Surrons and taking over the street is what may spur legislation, no cop is going to bother an adult on a bike, even if it goes 35. Yeah, that reminds me.. Nobody talks about, saving money by upgrading to, 2500 or 3000 W motor
It's nice to see na ebike that stands out in performance.
If E-bikes weren't capped at 15 mph over here, I'd feel safer on the roads. Even if i could only go 25-30 mph, it would cut so much time off my commute to work, and anywhere else i had to go.
I just ordered mine wired freedom yesterday it should ship out in August i can't wait to ride it i definitely plan on making it all wheel drive i am sure it would be good race with your citizens bike when i am done with it ps . Love your video's your doing a great job

Did you receive your order yet
This looks like the southeast, maybe North Carolina. Ah, Fuquay-Varina, it's NC for sure. Did you pick this up locally?
It's OK to have a bike that goes 40mph. However, the downfall is the distance you will get riding at that pedal assist.
@jfly2249 Yeah, I understand the speed is great but if you throttle only at 40mph your distance is shortened drastically.

Yes! We need to be able to keep up with traffic
That looks like a great bike. Personally I would ride in the middle of the road if you're keeping up with traffic or going faster than traffic.
If I don't do that around here, I get people passing me dangerously close by.
I agree with on it's safer to keep up with traffic, I'm just worried law enforcement won't see it that way?

Haha this vid title is hilarious. My neck isn't broken enough, I need a 40mph ebike hehe, love it.
Spoke skins are COOL for sure. My 3 e-bikes all got them and lots of compliments came with them also. I got some blue and white too. They were a biatch to put on.
Wired vs kepler???
Man, that's an incredible ebike 👍
it is....
but won't cops be bustin your balls when they see you goin this fast?
