Ep.157 : [A Child's Step Doesn't Stop] On today’s episode of the Return of Superman, Sunghoon and Sarang visit her dear friends, Soeul and Daeul. They learn the importance of money by selling their old clothes and toys at a flea market. Seoeon and Seojun experience many new things and spend great time in Jeju Island. Also, Rohee goes on a camping trip with her dad and his friends for the first time.

I totally see that! I keep telling myself not to read comments cause some people tend to be sensitive about things and i end up getting sucked into it as well and it just ruins the episode for me hahaha...besides, sarang actually shows quite manly characteristics and sunghoon even encourages it... she would be pretty badass when she grows up... >.

I deadass think he truly doesn’t give a f more than most of the parents I’ve ever seen on this program. I think the fact it was a joke says a lot, vs. sometimes we see Dong Wook say something, whom means it somewhat but loosely because he wants his son to be a man which in their culture I can understand, vs him not living their and now lives in the us which is much more relaxed in that regard. TLDR: He was joking lol

it took a little while for it to be obvious that Sunghoon was mostly just teasing Daeul but can I say how proud I am of the kids for not taking any gender stereotyping crap from a full grown adult whom they trust. Especially Sarang who calmly but firmly explained to her dad the flaws in his reasoning and Daeul for sticking to his guns (or in this, to his Exo Oppa!! lmao).

I'm so glad Soeul and Daeul had long segments in this episode. It was probably mainly because of Sarang, but I'll take it! It was great seeing Soeul and Sarang learn how to sell items and make a profit. Also it was amazing how when they guessed half of 68, each of them guessed 3 and 4 which gave them the real answer of 34. Rohui's camping with the other kids was cute too!

OKAY ON A SERIOUS NOTE: y'all gotta understand... *Both* Daeul & Daebak have big sisters. ESPECIALLY Daebak. I'm surprised the boy still turned out to be manly and can say no to his sister's antics. As for Daeul he really looks up to Soeul so it's no surprise he'll end up liking what his sister likes but we all know the Little Man is just as much manly as any boy. It just means for both boys that majority of the time they play with "GIRLY things" due to their sisters. Sunghoon was just trying to expose Daeul to the norm and teasing him since he finds Daeul cute. No need to hate on the man, you can't blame someone for what they've been exposed and used to due to their upbringing. Also you gotta understand that Sunghoon belongs to the older generations where the baby boomer parents taught/have strict traditional mindsets. The guy turned out fine.

Ikr. But then, I think he was being sarcastic. He just wants Daeul to be manly like him. He's like the manliest of all men so I don't blame him if he's strict. It's not wrong, and it's not entirely right either. When I become a mother I'd have my daughter to be feminine and girly as well like Soeul :)
I think Sunghoon is a great father, he acts the way he acts because he was brought up in a very strict household by his father, and he has disciplines. He acts the way he acts becaude he does not know how else he could, otherwise he acts shy and that makes him who he is. He is a great father and I miss their family on the program so much.

Daeul is super cute, and I belive he should be able to play with whatever he wants and like whatever he likes. Sunghoon is a good father, and I think that the way he was raised poses some similarity to the way he is raising Sarang. Of course I was a bit upset by him telling Daeul that he wasnt able to play with that and this, but I suppose that Sunghoon was just raised that way. Hopefully parents in the future will realize there doesnt have to be a specific gender assigned to a specific toy. Girls and boys should be able play with what they want. I also think that Sunghoon was saying Daeul couldnt play with the "girl toys" because he had the idea of Daeul wanting to become a "Little Man".
