@iyeetsecurity922 ok as a woman in iran. That's not true , woman in iran are well educated (67 percent of college graduates are woman ) and have you ever seen an iranian woman , honestly the beauty standards here are really high , ( and it's not necessarily good or bad just saying)
Watching these a decade later is so fascinating not just because of the relevance of the events being covered and seeing the show itself evolve, but also because I'm realizing how even though I've been watching since season 2 I'm only just now the target demographic. This episode aired when I was just about to start middle school, and I am now old enough to be the person referred to in the "if you're getting high in your dorm room right now" joke. Truly bizarre realizing I spent my entire teenage years with this bird man and I'm still watching him as a college senior.
With you all the way. But you can tell that JO's hair isn't grey... and I remember when my sis, her oldest granddaughter and I were staying in Freeport, IL during that time; our mother's funeral was the next day. I took pictures of the signs people were putting up in support of the victim. It was good, but bewildering.
About a year ago, a search warrant was issued for my stepson because he was "known to be involved with a gang member who was involved in a drive by shooting". This is a small city of less than 200k. One of those tanks showed up in front of my house, came on to the loud speakers for us to come out of the house one-by-one. As the man of the house, of course I was the first one out. With an armored machine gun mount pointed at me I step out the door. I was immediately handcuffed behind my back, and as a morbidly obese with severe arthritis caused over the next couple of hours enough suffering that if it were not law enforcement, I could have easily won tens of thousands in a law suit. They did cuff my 16-year-old step son, not the one suspected, and wanted to cuff the 18-year-old step daughter, but decided that she was carrying her 3-month-old baby that it might look bad. They ripped my house apart searching and despite the fact that I told them that the only firearm in the house was a .22 rifle from when I was a teen, they didn't even find that. In the mean time, everyone on my block, which is in a pretty decent neighborhood, came out to see the spectacle with the news even making it back to my landlord, who amazingly upped my rent by 50% when renewal time came around. Yeah, so that happened.
Sp you had police officers be able to get to you and well you knkw use military tactics to force you to comply with them even though you were not really at fault for one of your family members behavior and your landlord ended up being the biggest bastard besides the corrupt police officers themselves.

Escalation of Force is the point I am always drawn back to. Police have more free reign to shoot their own citizens in this country than I foreseeably did in a WARZONE in another country. So glad that John and Co. brought up that point in this episode back in the day.

Mainly we have small crime, and a bunch of homeless people who exit the train here when transit stops at 2 am. Tanks are going to be super helpful with that. I know some of the people at the police station and they’re nice. But I am well aware I get a better experience because (1) I have a business relationship with them and (2) I’m a middle class white lady. Men and women who program computers, sew clothing, cook meals, perform hospital nurse functions, perform doctor functions, pilot airplanes, and weld, and drive trucks, and middle-manage, and lead as CEO, etc. ...should be paid the same, for the same work. Begging for raises is gaslighting and an antiquated system that has no place in the modern world. Raises should just materialize with added performance expectations, and at regular intervals.
Oh, also, the draft should apply to both genders, but parents should get an exception, for at least one parent. They should decide which one stays. No child should be orphaned by both parents dying in combat, if it can be avoided.

I work in a corporate environment, and I learned that, for the same work, a coworker (a man) with significantly less experience started at 16% higher pay. Fortunately, I have a very solid reputation in the field, and people had been trying to poach me with benefits I was seeking, and a huge pay increase. I don't need a fucktonne of money, but at least pretend to pay me a semblance of my worth. The wild part? I gave my employer notice, and they matched the offer I was taking, but told me they'd have to bump the pay of another coworker (a woman), who has way more knowledge and experience, is very highly regarded in the field, and who everyone up to the VPs in the company knows "if she goes, we're fucked."
PSA for everyone, including men, but especially everyone else: your employer is not looking to pay you your worth. If you don't speak up, they'll happily take more for less pay. And they'll tell you they can't give you a raise, and they are almost always lying. They do not have your interest at heart, they have theirs first and foremost. If you want more money, look elsewhere. I know it's very hard when you've built up relationships with coworkers and customers, but it's the only way out. Only reason I was able to finally do it was because my partner got Sick™ (the big bad), rumor had a rent hike, and we're still not able to afford anything but our tiny, falling apart apartment, and even amazing insurance doesn't cover all the bills. Only reason we're staying is to be near their doctors. I know full well that my employer will take advantage of me again, but they matched other offers, and this buys us a little extra stability not having to move far away.
I agree most of the time. But refering to leni in relation to trash film memes. That's simply disrespectful. She was a talented person in an unfortunate place in history.
Not really, he was entirely correct. Michael Brown, regardless of what he had done 10 minutes before, was confronted on the basis he was walking in the street. The Police Chief himself acknowledges this. Considering this alongside the utter lack of injury to Wilson, the police force's historic mistreatment of minorities, and the police overreaction, it is entirely legitimate to point out these flaws. Hence why even in 2020 the State Prosecutor doubled checked the case to see if charges could be brought, but declined on the basis of insufficient evidence. Not a lack of merit, but insufficient evidence.
This show has been so much better than Bill Maher since it started. Bill says dumb one liners and holds for laugh every sentence Its the most annoying thing to watch Hes rude to everyone and so arrogant I believe he'd fk himself upon asking him to
Inequality issue. I'm not saying it's fair, but here's what's going to happen. Employer chooses to less paid female employees because he calculates that a female employee may become pregnant, hence it offsets that pay gap. Now, if the pay is the same. NOTE because it WILL HAPPEN, no women are going to be hired at all. Sucks, but it's true. As I said, it is not fair, but knowing employers and their bottom line, IT WILL HAPPEN.
The wage gap doesn't exist! We have laws that do not allow women to be paid less than a man for the same job, the numbers don't tell the whole thing. Women tend to take more time off of work, don't work as much overtime, and yes, tend to work in careers that pay less while men tend to go into things like s.t.e.m.. also experience and productivity play a part..Example, the women's soccer team brings a few million in profit where the men bring in billions, ironically the woman actually get a higher percentage even though they make last. The truth is people get paid what they are worth. Or ask yourself a logical question, if women make that much less than men, why arent companies just hire more woman, or all woman employees, they would save millions right?
The fact that a black man was charged for "destroying city property" by bleeding on the officers uniforms is so evil that even i wouldn't come up with that and btw my imagination can turn into something that on ao3 you'll need to tag it with dead dove do not eat I had to have a moment to process that on god
I love this show and John is usually spot on, but on the wage gap he is missing the mark dramatically. 1. you can't say 'we need equal pay for equal work' while ignoring the evidence that the pay gap is due to the fact that it is NOT equal work. 2. There is no such thing as 'equal pay for equal work' anyway. People aren't only paid for work. This goes for men and women. People are paid for education, years of experience, and to an extent, personality and negotiating skills. 3. The reason that women who are single and childless make more than men in their 30s and early 40s is because they are women who are more likely to be in more demanding sectors and whose experience is on par with their male counterparts. 4. Women DO prefer jobs with more flexibility and many women take years off work or drop to part time to raise kids if they are fortunate enough to have a situation that allows it. The real problem isn't that when you make a completely unqualified comparison of apples to whatever the hell you find behind door 1, women are earning less than men. The problems are, in a number of higher earning sectors: 1. The education funnels are focused on men and feel inaccessible or at least unwelcoming to women. 2. The hiring managers are more likely to be male, and will often times feel more comfortable hiring a male who is generally more relatable to them. 3. There is an unwritten - but in many cases widely whispered - rule in a lot of places that women - particularly younger and/or more attractive women are either A) a major distraction or B) a sexual harassment complaint waiting to happen. 4. Women of childbearing age are often assumed to be less reliable, since they are more likely to take time off for sick kids and need maternity leave for future kids. Let's solve these problems, since they are the real ones. Stop talking about the nonsense '88 cents on the dollar' crap. Focus on outreach to women in degree programs that feed these higher earning sectors. Hire females instructors. Establish internship programs. Promote women in these sectors when possible. Fire the shit out of lizard-brained morons like my former boss who literally disciplined me for hiring a completely qualified female who happened to be attractive when several males working in adjacent areas couldn't focus on their work in the presence of a reasonably attractive female and who happened to resign when she got pregnant after a few months (she hadn't been employed long enough to qualify for FMLA). He was literally unwilling to punish or allow me to punish the mob of males who followed this gal around, stopping her from working and interrupting their own work. Instead he punished me and said "I should have known better." Yep, let's fire all those assholes. I have 3 daughters. If they decide to stay home with their kids (assuming they have kids) I want them to have that option and know there is no shame in it, or in the realities of earning less money because you prioritized flexibility. But I also want them to have the same opportunities to pursue technical, engineering or scientific careers that their brothers will have, and to feel just as welcomed in those sectors and the university programs that feed them as any male peer.
the controlled gender pay gap, that accounts for all of what you just mentioned (some things it shouldn't) was _still 6.6% at the time of the video release and is 1% now._ This is publicly available and it shocks me that you have the time to type that much out and not to research a claim you're making. That's before taking into account controlling for lane of occupation unfairly subtracts the fact factors like women-dominated proffesions tend to get underpaid as a whole, which is absolutely an expression of discrimination but won't pop up in that stat. Same goes for babies - in what world should women get paid less for a biological function that serves their men equally (to be clear the solution to this is moreso adding a fraternity leave) Also a bunch of the claims you made are wildly unsubstantiated, like women prefering work-hour flexibility. I've read the study this claim originates from, and besides stating early on that _"the preferences we identify are not necessarily intrinsic, and can be, in part influenced, by the environmental influences particular to this cohort of students."_ this was a survey of 248 NYU students, with some weird quirks that come with tiny niche samples like this, like being 51% asian-american, self-selected through pay to participate etc. meaning the data is interesting and it's possible the ~6% 'willingness to pay' preference it indicates (if you buy it's questionable methodology) exists in the general public - the sample is so specific and small that making a definitive claim from it is equivalent to flipping a coin three times, getting heads and concluding it only ever lands that way. This is of course the exact type of study result that will be portrayed as 'sweeping evidence' by a talking head whose prior beliefs it seemingly affirms
That video with the tank and the punisher symbol is the perfect litmus test. Any cop that thinks “that’s cool” should be fired immediately. The issue of policing in America isn’t just about tools or policies. It’s about culture.

This show premiered weeks before I moved to rural NC from a normal part of the country. This show seriously might have saved me from becoming a fascist.
ok so niche but the keene NH pumpkin fest actually DID have a riot at the pumpkin fest the year after they did this. UNH students flipped a car over lollll
Militarizing the police in Missouri shouldn't be a surprise since it is a southern state. What else is there to say?
I really can’t believe how revalent issues from a decade ago are now. Gaza, Ukraine, police violence against African Americans. We have been through 3 different presidents and progress remains slow.
Knowing what we know now about Ferguson...wow.
Remains topical ten years on.
Honestly who just added it.
Illegal birth control sounds familiar
So men who fight fires and women who babysit toddlers should be paid the same?
I'm wondering how many of you younger people knew who Lena Riefenstahl is. Before you Googled it.
"People are saying..." translated into English: "We want you to think this is true"
Glad people are saying it, getting sick of hearing from the dog.
The Ayatollah in 2014: (bans birth control)
America: That’s insane, why would they do that?
GOP in 2022: (overturns Roe v Wade)
America: Why is this happening? Why did they take a woman’s right to choose?
Well, at least birth control is safe right?
GOP in 2023: (publishes Project 2025 which contains bans on birth control)
Me in 2024: it’s your choice America, we go Iran or we go free. Don’t screw up! If the GOP loses in November, we will still have time to make Dark Brandon uncomfortable for what he’s doing for Israel. If Trump wins, he will not hear our pleas and will crush us like Pinochet, Franco, or Gustavo Diaz Ordaz; and he will also stand with Israel. Also Brandon, please stop the genocide.
Iran has a President and a Supreme Leader, and Two Militaries one for each… sounds like America.. 😱😨🙀
Brandon stopped arms deliveries since you posted this.
When Oliver's kid took over the show?
Just released.
I agree most of the time.
But refering to leni in relation to trash film memes.
That's simply disrespectful.
She was a talented person in an unfortunate place in history.
He's all over that Michael Brown case without knowing the facts.
That little girl at the start is 23 now.
Why is John dying his hair?
Wow, only nine minutes in.
JO is on fire.
Did he dye his hair. Looking less grayish.
Oh my god Kellyanne Conway
Jamie Foxx
This show has been so much better than Bill Maher since it started. Bill says dumb one liners and holds for laugh every sentence
Its the most annoying thing to watch
Hes rude to everyone and so arrogant I believe he'd fk himself upon asking him to
Be humble and honest,
Add a date.
OMG!
That one lone lady screaming was extremely irritating 😫
The choice of music should tell you about the mentality of the cops wink wink
The fact that a black man was charged for "destroying city property" by bleeding on the officers uniforms is so evil that even i wouldn't come up with that and btw my imagination can turn into something that on ao3 you'll need to tag it with dead dove do not eat
I had to have a moment to process that on god
The problems are, in a number of higher earning sectors:
Same goes for babies - in what world should women get paid less for a biological function that serves their men equally (to be clear the solution to this is moreso adding a fraternity leave)
Also a bunch of the claims you made are wildly unsubstantiated, like women prefering work-hour flexibility. I've read the study this claim originates from, and besides stating early on that _"the preferences we identify are not necessarily intrinsic, and can
be, in part influenced, by the environmental influences particular to this cohort of students."_ this was a survey of 248 NYU students, with some weird quirks that come with tiny niche samples like this, like being 51% asian-american, self-selected through pay to participate etc. meaning the data is interesting and it's possible the ~6% 'willingness to pay' preference it indicates (if you buy it's questionable methodology) exists in the general public - the sample is so specific and small that making a definitive claim from it is equivalent to flipping a coin three times, getting heads and concluding it only ever lands that way.
Admin for John here! So I was fired over some bullsht and I am uploading everything I have access to.
👀
Okay?
This is a lie. They announced a few days ago that all of the old episodes will be uploaded by the way.
Then why wouldn't you post this comment from the official account that you claim to have access to? 🤔
@@kilo.sierra I was "laid off" yeah right those pompus fcks fired me because I refused to do 3 others peoples work along with my own. Well nope...not me. And I was fired so I don't have access to any main account. I only have the episodes I took.
Chicken fart
