Was going to try leca because of my constant battle with fungus gnats !!! defo gonna try pon. Thanks so much for mentioning the fungus gnats as I couldn't find anyone mentioning it in their videos. Love & Peace 🌿
Aaaaaaah I’m going to try it! You’ve convinced me. Having just purchased a massive bag of leca, all of the self watering pots and nutrient solutions I’m kicking myself slightly that I didn’t look into pon sooner! I’m also a recent plant parent to a Thai constellation and 3 Monstera Albo Variegatas so super on edge about how they’re doing. Thanks for the great advice! Just ordered my first bag and looking for appropriate orchid pots to track progress
I love watching videos to assure me that I'm on the right track. I've had it up to 'here' with fungus gnats! I'm converting all my plants to coarse pumice using a diy approach. I have 2 anthuriums, syngonium and a peace lily in tall glass containers with well-rinsed pumice. There's a little water at the bottom but I much prefer a clear nursery pot and cover pot set up. Thanks for sharing!
@@MC-9 It did though I wasn't fertilising enough. I switched back to soil and was amazed at the growth but very disappointed with the soil quality AND the return ofthe gnats... I also had some vessels grow algae. I think when I next sort my soil out I'll put a decent amount of pumice in. Thanks for asking!
It doesn't seem like Pon is sold in the US, so bought the components separately to make my own! Most I already had or they were fairly cheap. Can't wait to experiment!!
Thank you for these video's I recently purchased Lechuza PON for the first time and already started to convert several plants to it, but wanted to make sure I wasn't getting ahead of myself ^^
Hi this is all new to me. I have tried having indoor plants before and I have to say I’m serial killer of plants. As much as I love them I either water too much or too little.. But my friends recently bought me a plant for my birthday and I keen to try again…so here we go..I have been doing so much research over the past few weeks and I am very excited to try it, with the self watering pot system. Could you please advise if this pon can be used with ferns? As I have had issues with ferns in the past with pests and think the the benefits of Pon that you mentioned may be the way to go? Thank you
Love the video. Pon has become increasingly popular. I don't see many people talking about the cons of pon. It seems a bit expensive compared to soil which can make it inaccessible for some. Can you make a video on how to make it? Does it make your plants heavier compared to soil? Does algae grow in the pon? If the roots grow down into the reservoir, do you find that you lose a lot of roots when you have to repot? I'm about to transition my first plant to pon.
Hi, this is the second great video of yours today. I like your style very much. Have you tried mineral substrates for succulents, too? They are a way cheaper than pon and I prefer the bigger size of bims and lava rock. I grow my anthurium like you show and I grow my intergenera orchids and dendrobium in the mentioned kind of substrate with leca as a bottom sheet - semi-hydro. Good luck with your plants! 🌿🌿🌿
Hello Mark i have a question i just stArted with pon i know pon have fertilizer coated my question is when i used new pon from the bag should i used fertiler rigth away or i should wait for the 6 months lot of friend told me to put fertilizer everyother watering because the pon don't have enougth fertilizer for the plant's needs. I just dont want to over fertilize my plant because one of my plant is a expensive one that my daugther got me for my 44 bday and i love her so much thank u 💚💚💚
Lovely video. But one question. How do you keep the pon inside the orchid pots? Because it's so fine, it should be falling out every time you lift the pot up, no?
Hey roberto. Where are you based. I get them from eBay I can send you some links otherwise if you are in the UK see taplink.cc/your.babylon and there’s links to clear pots there they sell many sizes
thanks for the video! When you use clear plastic inserts, do you make holes at the bottom? do you water it from above or do you put water inside the outer pot and let it absorb? cheers
Hello question i just got a anthurium from Dr Block and want to transfer to pon can i do it i have the plant for 2 weeks thank u all my plants are in pon
Hi Mark! Thanks for the video, very helpful! I just bought Lechuza Pon but I didn't bought the Lechuza pots. When you use the regular clear pots, do you leave water at the bottom? Can you just water the plant from the top, as a plant in 'normal' soil?
I'm like the rest of ur followers, I'm changing from Leca to pon, however I need some clear advice on how & wat to do with pon B4 I use it,. Can u give me some advise ?
Do you ever propagate in pon? I’m trying to figure out how best to set up propagation in pon (in non draining glass with a layer of water in the bottom, in a draining pot that wicks up water, in draining pot that sits in water reservoir without wick etc.)
You basically need zeolite for good cation exchange and pumice for improved moisture retention and capillary action, and some other inorganic for aeration (Pon uses lava rocks as the 3rd ingredient, probably can be replaced with some kind of grit). Usually bonsai shops have their own similar mix. There's also the Seramis cactus mix, but I'm not sure how it compares to Pon.

how has this gone, michelle? has it solved your issue with the gnats?

Hi! Thank for your video. Having problems with the pon going through the holes of the orchid pots.
Thanks man, you're a star!

Pon is sold in the US, but it sells out really fast.
Thank you for these video's I recently purchased Lechuza PON for the first time and already started to convert several plants to it, but wanted to make sure I wasn't getting ahead of myself ^^
I've been moving items to it over time. The more I do the more I have confidence and prefer it
@@YourBabylonPlants Thank you so much for your reply, it makes me feel less nerveous about it haha
Julie Alexander.Where did you get the Pon?
@@louisabyr6826 I ordered it online from the Netherlands, as I couldnt find it cheaper in Ireland :)
Lovedddd this video so helpful!!!!

hi
thank you for the very informative video
can you tell me the difference between pon Lechuza 19561 / 19562? thanks

Do you wash the PON before use? It seems to have a fair bit of mud that comes off of it when u first flush it.
Hi. Does your clear plastic pots have holes at the bottom or somewhere? And how much water reservoir do you put in the catch pot? :)
You sound English!! Where do you get your clear inner pots? I can’t find places in UK that sell them?
Thanks for this video, 1000% helpful!
thanks Emily Glad to hear it!
Can you use osmocote (slow release fertilizer) as an alternative for liquid fertilizer? hehe
yes you can mix that in the pon
@@YourBabylonPlants Thanks!!
Where do you buy your self watering Pots, or clear Pots?
Do you have to use self-watering pot
Lovely video. But one question. How do you keep the pon inside the orchid pots? Because it's so fine, it should be falling out every time you lift the pot up, no?
Does pon ever get algae in a cabinet the way perlite does?
I've never noticed mine to
Super video, halfway through converting to pon, can i ask where you get the big clear pots from? i need quite a few.

Yes there's a transitional period. My second part of this video should be up by Monday

Hi, how work mosspoles in pon?? Because of the mix of Minerals and organic Substrate? Thanks in advance:)

I propagate with pon. I put the plant in a plastic container that has drainage and I put it into a cover pot working as a reservoir for the water.
Can you add systemic pesticide with pon? Or there is no need?
How often do you approximately water when you top water Pon?
Do you know if I can get liquid gold leaf in the USA?
Useful Information. May I know where you got those Knitted sloths from?
oh yes she is on Instagram and does loads of animals it’s @why.knot.business
Thank You!!
Looks like it would make heavy pots?
It looks like your ZZ plant is in Pon? Is it?
Hello yes all my ZZ are in PON. They love it
Anyone here knows if its recommended to mix this with little. Bit of soil?
Might be silly question, do you wash the pon before using it? But I understand there are fertilisers in it tho.
yes you do. it’s a slow release fertiliser
Mark you are soo handsome, thanks for your videos, I'm thinking about pon, thanks for your advice xx
Haha thank you yes think about PON. It's a great substrate
How do you add a water reservoir without using the self watering pots? Any tips? :)
The nursery/clear container goes into a cover pot with no drainage holes.
Some tiny plants I have in a container without drainage holes and keep adding water after it's empty.
I can't find Lechuza-Pon any where. Is there an alternative product or a recipe?
Tesco Low Dust Cat Litter. It needs to be specifically this one and other ones will not work. Wash it well.
You basically need zeolite for good cation exchange and pumice for improved moisture retention and capillary action, and some other inorganic for aeration (Pon uses lava rocks as the 3rd ingredient, probably can be replaced with some kind of grit). Do you have to wash the Pon like you do Lecca?
I would say so. did you see part 2 video as I cover that
Vendo maceta lechuza Canto 30 por 50€ (mitad de precio)
Where do you find Pon
hey I’ve added links in the video description
Kiley Walks
Why do you like Lechuza over Lecca. Don't you use it the same way.
leca has no fertiliser, pon has a fertiliser which would be enough up to 6 months for a plant
Stuff is expensive
