    Nice job! Your sons are getting some schooling watching you for sure! Wicked design! Yah, I saw what you did wearing that shirt!! Can't wait t see the Bronco back in action. Glad you folks made it through the hurricane.

      We are headed to a job now with the bronco, they request a truck that could lift a truck off a stump in a field not drag it

    Do you ever use the scotch blocks on the front while winching from there?

  • @chrisfenner5949
    @chrisfenner5949 2 года назад

    That should work out pretty good for the type of recoveries you do. I think you should be able to move about anything now especially with the down force and scotch blocks. We used to use them way back in the day with an old single axle mack b61 with 20k winch. Chain them right to the frame behind the wheels and it would lock that truck right there. And yes would pick the front end to. Had to put snatch block and back to pull eye down low.

    Have a look at Mike's towing in nh
    He has a similar setup on his jeep but uses two removable Jack's on the rear to stop the front wheels lifting

      Oh eh.....would they kind of act like levelers on a camper? I could see that working pretty good!!! A couple of farmer jacks with brackets or shackles for easy setup?

    Is the top of that gin pole already bent down? Maybe it's the camera angle?
    Are the front mounts of the pole tied to the frame like you did in the rear?

    • @matt.mckinzie
      @matt.mckinzie  Год назад

      I think it’s the angle of camera it definitely looked bent to us as well I put a level on it and it’s not
      Yes front and rear are mounted to the frame

    Oh....and thanks for always sharing and showing your setups!!!!! The info you share is going to greatly help me out with setting up my '82 k5 for the situations faced here in northern ontario canada!!! I don't plan to do much hardcore wheeling but there is alotta mud,snow etc to deal with sometimes when going to my camp and I'd much rather be in the k5 than on an atv.

      No problem
      Now ideally you can build a stronger more simple wrecker boom
      But we wanted to be different
      And since it’s only a 1/2 ton
      It
      Can’t hold a lot of weight anyway

      @@matt.mckinzie thank you very much but I won't be putting s boom on it however I will be following some of your techniques for sure!!! I have a great respect for individuals who think outside the box and actually use a bit of planning and geometry to get things done.....as opposed to the "just add more steel" mind set. Great job and I'm now effectively hooked on your channel 🤙. Oh....and that broncos a freakin beast!!!!

    Nice job Matt. 1st, hope you and your family is safe and well with that Hurricane. 2nd suggestions. Adding straps to the front frame going down to the axle to stop the suspension from going up. Adding air bags to the rear axle to lift the rear suspension. Maybe even adding some weight to the front end. I think your gonna be in good shape either way you go because your not going to actually tow anything. Most will think your trying to build a wrecker and your not, your just looking for some upwards lift while winching. Good luck my friend, can't wait to see it in action. Stay safe...

    • @matt.mckinzie
      @matt.mckinzie  2 года назад +1

      We have front axle limit straps, we are probably going to add air bags to the back, and hurricane missed us
