Part of me wished God Arm was familiar with Bunta before he raced Takumi. Would've been sick, plot-wise.

Agreed, even if the suspension didn't give out, he was losing so much ground I doubt he would have been able to recover. God hand outperformed Takumi in every single way

@@redoz9768 notice that takumi turned off his headlights during a corner, god hand could've possibly thought of him crashing. he slowed down to literally check if he did crash, and takumi passes him.
Man have you tried turning off your headlights at night? Especially on mountain roads where there are no city lights, just moonlight or some lamp post. It gets pretty dark to the point where you can't literally see shit haha. You really wouldn't see where Takumi is if he is on your left or right side.

@@christmasisawesome9348 In hindsight I think the conclusion is incredibly funny, but I agree, both Wataru races felt longer despite the fact this one went on for even more rounds
The writer said Purple Shadow was such a tough team to come up with ways PD could win due to the obvious difference in experience and machinery vs other mostly amatuer teams.
@@Nightmaretyrant Project D's race against Purple Shadow is pretty much the pinnacle of the series because after this the races were pretty much hollow and only served the purpose of getting closer to Ryosuke vs Shinigami showdown because the final races of Project D were not anything special or new other than just being the finale of the series.
Honestly they should have used the fact that God Hand said he was going to use up all of his tires in the seventh round, I feel like they could have used that to make a more believable ending somehow
God hand’s overtake is my favorite in the season.

One of the few battles, in which Takumi feels despair. (the second is the first battle with Kyoichi Sudo in EVO 3)
His match with Ryosuke also. He also felt despair when Ryosuke carbon copied his every moves.
The battle with Tachi shows Takumi have a long way to go. His toughest battle in my opinion

There is one thing I don't understand about this race, and that is the ending.
Instead of making God Arm lose because of him vomiting from stress with Takumi literally limping to the finish line with a broken suspension, why couldn't they have Joshima's arm give out from exhaustion and being pressured from the chasing 86, causing him to mess up a corner or even spin out?
It may still be a little bit of plot armor, but at least Takumi wouldn't win by some God-given luck because Joshima started randomly vomiting. Plus the Eight-Six wouldn't have a broken suspension system.
I just don't understand how this battle ended, they have been racing for 8 rounds non-stop, on an almost 7,000 meter course full of hairpins and corners, I dont think anyone would last that long driving with one hand on the steering wheel and not feel somewhat exhausted.
Like, come on, the reason Keisuke won against God Foot was because of his superior footwork and acceleration in that battle, why couldn't they have Takumi win because of his skills in steering and cornering?
Joshima admitted later on that he was forced to use his other arm, thus breaking his "God Arm" title, I dunno if that is the reason why he lost that way, so it was pretty much still weird.
Shigeno himself admitted that, it's rather hard to continue the Project D series if he had taken a more practical approach because racers like God Arm would demolish Takumi and the gang. I think however such bullshit conclusion is a heavy disservice to an otherwise well fought race and possible character development.
Moreover it makes sense for old men to not have the same stamina as the youngsters, so having God Hand just vomit is, in my opinion, valid. I would have loved for him to have spun out, but that would kinda ruin my perception of him as a godlike driver, while him just letting out shows his age as a weakness while still maintaining his skill as a godlike driver
You can see mamy times during Hoshino's race with Keisuke how Joshima is in a bad shape suffering the japanese summer
I'm guessing the suspension breaking is a good way to show us and Takumi how the car can't just do the same tricks all the time, and how he'd need to learn where to use said tricks
Also both gods don't lose directly, since that'd make Takumi and Keisuke some kind of perfect drivers with no issues, if not it'd be stupid to surpass two literal gods then have issues with the next few teams
It's plot armor but decent storytelling
The entire event, Joshima had the sweats. I believe he was ill before he even started racing, but he was so focused on the task ahead that he ignored it. He relaxed when he realized the 86 was out of the race, and it all caught up to him at once.
I have one question: what Takumi did wrong to mess up the suspension on that particular corner?
Takumi after defeat God Arm with Project D, he became a god for Zero Mortal Project in another universe 😂

As you get older , you understand more this race. Let’s say this each round is like 15 or 20 . 7th round is like 2 hours ? More or less ? Even at 10 minutes each , it’s an hour non stop driving . These are not pros who have a medical team and endurance training. Just their current health.
So GodHand breaking down just before seems convenient but understandable
Tell that to people who thinks it's plot armor while it's actually accurate of endurance races. I'm not a racer myself, but I can only imagine a portion of what they must endure during an endurance race. Fatigue is the worst thing that can happen as not only you'll feel tired, you'll feel dizzy because you'll lack focus. And if the weather is not good either, your condition will alter and NOT in a good way.

Even after finishing this series 3 times, I just can't get myself to like this battle over the bs ending just ruining my enjoyment of it. I think this race has some really great moments such as god-arm overtaking Takumi and the eurobeat selection being top notch, but damn what I would do to earse the ending from my head and experience the race again for the first time.
Yeah this race itself is fantastic but the end is such a disappointment, seems like not even god hand could get passed the power of plot armor :/
Even it's plot armor factor, but there is the reason why God Hand lost the race. Stamina. As you already know God Hand is in 50s or 60s in term of age, so his stamina isn't that good as back when he was 20s.

Hoshino, Bunta, Ken and Toshiya are legendary drivers of the past. I love it!

By the time Takumi reach 30 years of age maybe he will have his own line while attacking on Mt Akina and flashback in his mind this race. This is a "HOME COURT ADVANTAGE" 100× on effect.

The only question for the battle I have is - why didn't Joshima Toshiya use the "Record Line Attack" technique in the 7th round after he overtook Takumi?
He said - "I overtook him, now I need to use as much grip as possible as dash from him".
In the 8th round he showed that he definitely could do that.
I think God Arm did run the record line after he passed him because he said there was no more need for him to preserve his tires.

Nope, because Takumi just regained his initial position. Most of the race in the series used the “cat-mouse mode”; the chaser being the cat and the lead being the mouse. The condition to win is either:
1) The chaser overtake the lead (most of the race in the series)
2) The lead loses the chaser (prime example: keisuke vs kobayakawa, fifth stage)
In the race case, takumi just regained his initial position (the lead) and does not managed to lose the chaser. So the race continued to the next round. Hope it clears ur confusion!
