  • Veeam® Cloud Connect is a feature of Veeam Backup & Replication™ that allows you to extend your #backup infrastructure to the cloud, helping you master the 3-2-1 Rule - a best practice when it comes to #dataprotection. To deploy Veeam Cloud Connect Portal in the SP backup infrastructure, you must install this component as part of the Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager installation.
After you install Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager, you must configure Veeam Cloud Connect Portal so that Veeam Cloud Connect Portal becomes accessible over the internet.
To enable access to Veeam Cloud Connect Portal:
Configure network settings for Veeam Cloud Connect Portal. As part of this step, you must specify the following settings:
Provide Veeam Cloud Connect Portal with public IP address.
Specify DNS name for Veeam Cloud Connect Portal.
Configure the NAT gateway and other components of the SP network infrastructure to allow traffic exchange between the internet and Veeam Cloud Connect Portal.
Add all SP Veeam backup servers on which tenant accounts are registered to Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager. To learn more, see the Adding Veeam Backup Servers section in the Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager User Guide.
Configure security settings for Veeam Cloud Connect Portal as required. As part of this step, you can edit default settings for Veeam Cloud Connect Portal with Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. For example, you can change the TLS certificate or set up protection against denial of service and brute force attacks. Watch this video to look deeper into the capabilities of #VeeamCloudConnect and learn how it can help you achieve simple, flexible and reliable off-site backup and replication.

Hi , may i know, is WAN Accelerator recommended to deploy on Backup Repo Server or Veeam Cloud Gateway server?

Hi Luis, there must be one on tenant VBR and one used by provider. Check out this resource: helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/cloud/cloud_connect_wan.html?zoom_highlight=wan+accelerators&ver=110

Really wanted to like Veeam but damn they are just too overly complicated for a small MSP.. would spend more time working out how it goes together than on managing the actual customer backups..seems to be totally over engineered..that's no reflection on Matts delivery which is clear and concise..

Carl, thanks for your feedback, really appreciate it. If you are only interested in accepting customer backups (and have no interest in replication), the architecture & process becomes substantially easier to implement. When you enter into the realm of replication, providing DRaaS, as you might suspect, things can get a little complicated, mostly from a network standpoint, to assure multi-tenancy and isolation remains in tact for multi-tenant environments. I would suggest engaging with a Veeam SE for a quick overview/walkthrough of Cloud Connect Backup and how easy it can be to implement. Sometimes I get a little long-winded while at the lightboard, so perhaps I gave you a false impression on complexity :) Have a fantastic day! -Matt
