- I am not affiliated with Apple. The original iPhone and iOS 16 are properties of Apple. This is not a real hack or jailbreak.
Roughly 16 years ago, Apple unveiled the first iPhone, running iPhone OS 1. Fast forward 16 years and iOS 16 is released. iOS 16 is (obviously) much more capable and powerful than iPhone OS 1, from basic features to advanced customization, privacy, intelligence features, and so much more. So, theoretically, how would the first iPhone look like if it ran iOS 16?
Everything (except for the icons and wallpapers and the part where Craig goes down the elevator) was designed by me in Figma and animated in Rive and After Effects.
The skeuomorphic icons are made by the extremely talented @THEVOLKANOGEDAY and @NDdoesstuff. Give them a follow on Twitter!

mhm i see where ur coming from! personally i think older phones are a tad bit too small tho. it'd still be nice if they supported some version of current ios, altho i will say older phones like the iphone 6 are reaaaaally slow nowadays
The mini line have relatively the same size as an iPhone 5s but with bigger screen and a good processor, you should get one if you like smaller phone because they gonna discontinue it soon

I was amazed by your creativity, I mean look at those OS! So compact yet satisfying to see what it can do in a 3.5“ phone :O
I personally prefer android over apple, but the fact that the os looks so nice on the original iPhone and that the phone itself STILL looks nice and cute and usable... just shows what an incredibly polished device it was even at release. It created an entirely new form factor for phones and is still good to look at. Can't be said for most android phones from that era, or even several years afterwards!

This is a good concept
it would actually make it worth the price of a used iPhone 8/X.
It would be unnecessarily expensive and hard compared to the hypothetical gained cash At this point I think it would be better to make a go edition or 2.0 one oc old phones,
For example an iPhone with a powerful processor shaped as a iPhone 2g

I see how it would work and how it would not. iPhoneOS 1 is optimized for very old iPhones. You would probably think it’s very fast but it’s not. It would be slower than even newer versions of iOS. The iPhone 2G had very small amounts of RAM and a very old processor. Here’s another thing, you would easily be able to unlock the phone but not exit apps because the home bar was not an iPhoneOS 1 feature. It would probably work on iPhone SE since it has a home button, but not iPhones without home buttons. In fact, it might not even work on the iPhone SE 4 because it might be a recycled iPhone XR which does not feature a home button. The oldest version for newer iPhones would probably be like iOS 11 since it was for iPhone X.
@@RalphyTheCoyote I would be more interested in the style of ios1 being adapted for modern screen resolution and hardware, rather than the technical side of things. It would be interesting to see the old icons, and maybe a virtual home button that’s pressable instead of the swipe-up motion
@@Zappr That would work. I feel like we already have that feature for jailbreak. However, if you jailbreak your iPhone, Apple will not put service on it even if it’s not the OS. I would jailbreak an older iPhone if I were anyone.
Unpopular opinion: Skeuomorphic design looks far better than flat design.

Imagine a line of iPhone “classics”. Up until the 5 or 6.
They would have something called “Era mode”
So you could enable it in control center, like the new Moto razr’s sort of era mode.
It would enable elements of the iOS of it’s release.

You can use flashlight on first iPhone by making your screen the brightest and it applies your fırst iPhone's screen to only white color until you turn it off 😂

They should keep the stuff based on iOS 6 as an option for your iPhone if you want those types of apps and os features
A classic mode of sorts would be a really great feature. Sort of like a theme but one that changes more than just your wallpapers and icons. It should change the look of your keyboard, lock screen and everything else. Obviously they'd have to implement the notch in some way though, which might look a little weird with skeuomorphic design.

I have my dad's original iPhone still around. I have I think it's called whitedoor installed. It makes it look like iOS 7 and includes an app store with a bunch of archived iOS 3 apps. I think it'd be cool if someone did the same, but with iOS 16 and furthers customizable lock screens and such.
I hope that Apple will someday release this nostalgic model with new features, I will definitely buy it.

Me as a Android user for decades i wish Apple allow Custom roms to their iPhone but unfortunately this is never happening because they restrict most of the customization features. But on Android you can do all of these.
The craziest thing is thar IOS 16 doesn't look too out of place with the original iphone. It really shows how far ahead they were in terms of design

Installing iOS 16 on first ever iPhone isn't illegal, I think but the major problem that iPhone has is it's hardware. I mean just look at it, it's hardware is way below the recommended system requirements for iOS 16

i think the biggest problem would be battery size for the modern power hungry chips of today
@@randomchannel9331 the chips are actually pretty power efficient. The problem is just less space for a big battery because the size of the phone. That’s why people slept on the iPhone mini series

The fact most modern phones are using a slightly changed version of the original iPhones modern design shows how important it was. Not only did Apple create the first modern smartphone, they also simultaniously perfected the form factor and design.
honestly that first iphone has one of the best bodies ever for a phone. goddamn a re-release of that phone with modern specs would be so sick. not even the camera or anything. just a modern ios.

I have had more Android products in my life than Apple products, but I must admit that what I loved the most was the design of the old iPhones, since Samsung also had a home button, but the Apple one was prettier

Honestly, the IOS 16 update is really cool. I think it’s a very good, very improving, and very nice update in general. But, man, the first ever iPhone, the iPhone 2G, it was made for the dump that IOS 1 is. It was made for how trashy that first software is. So I feel like if we switched it out with IOS 16, it would make the first ever iPhone… not the first ever iPhone anymore. The 2G was made to be iconic in the future so let’s just… leave it how it is, respect it, and not take it for granted and let’s enjoy the iPhones we have today and leave the iconic to be, well, iconic.
