The dog food story, or “no good deed goes unpunished” story? Yeah, I got one like that. I happened to go through a production area at work when I found a problem. It caused that day’s production to be thrown out, but had I NOT caught it, three WEEKS of production (7 day/week, 3 shifts/day) would have been thrown out before the problem would have been found. Saved the company at least $250,000 in materials alone, not to mention salaries and time. Result? Got called on the carpet and chewed out for fifteen solid minutes for causing one day’s production to be thrown out! I finally promised the manager that if I ever discovered a problem that would save them tons of money if I acted on it, I would henceforward do absolutely nothing and let them take the loss! Somehow they didn’t like that, either, but they didn’t change their attitude toward me at all. Left that company soon after.
Story 2 is clearly sexism, and if she gets the right lawyer she can nail them. As husband of a big ex-cop who uses a peavey to move logs and is stronger than many men, I have to roll my eyes at this one.
Last story killed me. What Happened? Did the neighbors flood? Fight? Sue? You can't leave us hanging on a half story like that. It's cruel. I relish these petty tales during my commute. Don't take the delicious resolutions away from us Red!
Written up for moving a bag of dog food? Write up is a golden ticket to make male coworkers move all dog food in front of customers. Does it also mean if no men are working that you can tell customers to get it themselves.
The neighbor has no say in this matter. If the pool that was taken out caused the problem, the yard needs to be restored to the state it was in before the pool was there. If he doesn’t like it due to his own negligence that’s his problem. 13:08
It's great, he has enough emotion and emphasis in his words (unlike some other narrators) to ensure it's not boring, but Pleasant and soothing enough to fall asleep to
On the last story, op it is YOUR property NOT his, go to the county seat and see what you have to do to fix your property. Also if they try to start a hoa, DON'T JOIN.
On the story about the dog food, op you did your job, that is what they hired you for, management SHOULD read when they get complaints before calling someone in to write them up, so they don't get egg on their faces and look stupid.
My chief advice in buying a house is to buy the highest on the street. Part of it is for drainage issues like this. Another is for sewers. If the sewer backs up, guess which house is the first to run over if the check valve fails.
In fairness stores that do "bogof" or similar offers need to set up checkouts to pick the most generous interpretation of the offer, otherwise they'll keep getting situations where a customer needs to split their purchase into multiple transactions to get the best price.
That's actually how that usually work. I have never seen anyone like Op mess with the rules like this. .op was completely in the wrong in this. Situation. This is one of the few cases where I hope the person called corporate, and corporate fired op
The second story, well when you ask someone for help in a store, then usually you get help. That’s how that works. That old guy and your manager and district manager are delusional.
The DM did read the letter, just didn't think that the employee would retaliate, DMs never really care about the employees so as long they didn't get any complaints. Soon as a complaint is made by a customer, they just pass it over to the store managers and tell them 'Get rid of the employee.' Because they assume the customer is always right and low paid people are just troublemakers.
She called them on their BS and they put themselves in a very actionable position with the write-up. Unfortunately, she probably now has a target on her back for making them look bad.
Now keep a record of every infraction of safety rules that shop does while looking for another job. As soon as you get one pass the record over to the authorities
And then they get surprised when the employee leaves as they don't want to deal with the migraine. The customer they so vehemently defended isn't going to take up the job - leaving them up crap creek without a plunger.
The DM told her that he read the first part and not the whole complaint. He admitted that if he had read the whole thing he would not have had her written up.
Yep!! I got a complaint against me from an older middle eastern gentleman when I was working at a nursery! I couldn't understand him and asked his (grown) son what he was asking me for and he complained to my (male) boss about how rude I was!! Boss said I was top sales person, aside from him, and would listen to what I had to say first. I told him I had apologized profusely and blamed my uneducated ears before asking the son for help.... Boss said he thought as much. He said next time i see the guy to come and get him. Best boss I ever had!! 💋💖💋💖🌵👵🐺🖖
Story 2 - Hopefully the customer shows up again and OP can make an announcement on the speakers asking for a big strong person to carry out dog food since she's too itty bitty weak to do so.
That reminds me of a stupid time I got a stupid complaint I accidentally burped in a hallway and Disturbed a grieving Widow I to refuse to sign any write-up
Write-up story: OP, you said the magic words with "gender discrimination" and "sexism" with HR. They KNEW they would lose a lawsuit if you took it that far or get hefty fines if you went to your states labor board. That's why they backtracked so fast. But yeah, that was a stupid move from the DM on down. That complaint should have been ignored! CD/bookstore bully story: Good job in leading them to a POLICE STATION! Not everyone thinks of that. Yard story: I would CAREFULLY check the city/county ordinances before starting work on the yard to see what's allowed. There might even be something that would REQUIRE the neighbor to adjust his downspouts so that they don't aim at your yard. Document everything and take LOTS of photographs of the current condition of the yard, both dry and wet, as well as how the neighbor's downspouts are set, again both dry and wet. Timestamp everything!
This reminded me of the time my store manager and assistant store manager yell at me(not both together) and I have no idea what they were yelling about. I just totally ignored them.
last story if thr neigbour sues to stop you renovating the yard counter-sue for damages they are deliberately leeding the rain water into your yard by the gutters aiming at your yard and not the street could help pay for the renovation
Good morning! Going to be late for your next set, hubby has Dr app, catch you when I can. Vent away! Great stories, thank you for sharing! Ill see you later!
Second one. I actually had it where a customer i was bagging for pulled his cart closer to him, didn’t know why and found out later from my supervisor that he thought I was throwing his stuff around. I said “I put in some cans, they’re going to clatter and I was bagging quickly to help get him out sooner.” All my supervisor needed. She just wanted my side. Not my fault he didn’t say a damn word. Another time, had a coworker actually nearby observing because i was ringing up a customer who was a huge problem for the online shopping. She’d send her kids to get the groceries and they couldn’t because of the alcohol. Anyway. She started screaming at me about putting her meat in the plastic bag instead of back in the plastic one from meat department. I was wearing my beanie and far as I knew, didn’t say a word. I just said “I’m a bit hard of hearing, you have to speak up.” Our cash office person was nice enough to relieve me from that bitch and finish that up. I hate being yelled at and don’t respond well. Either I WILL yell back or I’ll cry
Last story, if the neighbor has his draining and grading of his property, to have water go into OP's property, pretty sure OP can go to code enforcement and not only have neighbor fix their draining so its no longer pouring into OP's yard, but would protect OP from any frivolous lawsuit the neighbor might try and pull.
Story 2: Ah, the passive/aggressive customer...my least favorite. This sounds like Wal-Mart where managers follow the corporate rules without using a single brain cell.
Story on the female employee Years ago I worked in the receiving area of a big box retailer (unloading trucks) our manager was informed by her boss she couldn't pull pallets out as they were too heavy for her. A year later after that manager went to a different store in receiving his crew had to come back to my store due to a flood causing closure of his store. My manager -- thd same woman-- in front of his staff, both store GMs, and district manager said that since he left she's been able to pull pallets out. Yes it did not end well for that male manager
The sexist story: I’m glad that OP received an apology, but we all know that there will be backlash from this. They will find a reason to fire her, now that she has put in an official complaint and embarrassed her bosses.
The first story was a definite rip-off by the store! The woman bought two expensive ($200 or so each) items, so she should've gotten the second one for 75% off. The cheap $4 bag was just an extra purchase. The store scammed her!
Yep, proof that the dm, gm, and asm had no spine. They saw a stupid complaint and did the easiest thing and punished the employee. When hr saw that this could all blow up badly and pushed they all bent to the blowing wind
You are required to control the water that is on or leaving your property. You must not allow water from your property to cause damage to other property.
10:47 The last story had me looking up “natural flow rule.” Basically the owner of a lower parcel of land must accept the natural surface water drainage from those parcels above their land. There’s not enough detail given in this story to speculate if this rule applies in their situation. Reasonable to assume the burden of proof the surface water isn’t currently flowing in its naturally state would be on the owner making the change.
Plus should complain to the city about damage caused by run off water from the neighbours. That way the ahole neighbour that aims the run off water incorrectly will be given a notice from the city to "Fix it or we will, and bill you", and you know that the city will both do it within the letter of the law, and also use a commercial contractor off the city list, and let them do it wounded buffalo cost wise.
Geez, most sexiest men would love to have a little girl wait on them hand and foot. If it was such an ego thing he could've carried the stuff. This guy obviously just wanted to get someone fired for nothing.
Dog food story: If i was OP I would have demanded a written apology from the GM/Supervisor/Managers involved and suggest that maybe management needs a course in how to properly provide feedback to employees as it was obvious to anyone who actually read more then the title of the complaint that it was a BS complaint from a sexist old male Karen who only gets joy out of making trouble for others even when there was nothing done wrong.
Don't do anything to your yard before checking all local and state regulations, and having local authorities come out personally to view the situation. Have them notify the neighbors of what work needs to be done on their property and yours to remedy the problem. When you've got the bases covered, do what needs done. Do not engage with an angry neighbor. Be an ordinance Nazi. Call police and get a restraining order, if necessary.
as a 6 feet five inches tall male i have no issue accepting help from short women, this guy seems like he hates women who can carry anything heavier than a baby >.>
what was the point of the last story,, nothing about the neighbors lawsuit or what happened to all the neighbors yards and if they had to make things right in their yards,, it was just a pointless story
I think that workers should change the way they see themselves. You are not "lucky to have a job". Your employer is lucky to have found someone who is willing to sell their product, their labour, for so cheap. Your labour is a commodity that you sell. You charge an hourly fee +extras for your product. If a business can't pay your fee, they can't afford you. And as they love to remind us, if you can't afford it, you can't have it.
Pet food store story: that’s exactly why you need a union and a union rep with you in disciplinary hearings. That’s the biggest pile of used cattle fodder in the whole store.
the about karen getting fired because she was playing pool while supposedly on medical leave if I was OP after karen was fired and tried to follow me home I would driven down the most desolate road I could find and then about half way down I would stopped gotten out of my car and proceeded to unload a whole bunch of bird shot into the front of karens car and then got back into my car and left them there

Story 2 is clearly sexism, and if she gets the right lawyer she can nail them. As husband of a big ex-cop who uses a peavey to move logs and is stronger than many men, I have to roll my eyes at this one.
The story smacks of a lawsuit and OP sitting pretty with a bank account to retire on

I have more then a few times!
I do fall asleep to his voice 3 videos in and I am out
I save his videos for when I'm layin in bed, they help me relax, and I fall asleep quickly after they are done

Good management would discuss & have a chuckle then brush it off. That's an unreasonable customer issue.

Howdy RedWheel!
👍✌️🤟
5:06 no it is not reasonable
I get my shopping delived and I don't worry if a female carries heavy boxes as I can't anymore. (52m).
Good morning from London Ontario Canada
Good morning!
Thanks Redwheel. Glad OP got things straightened out. Imagine a write up for doing your job.
Geez, most sexiest men would love to have a little girl wait on them hand and foot. If it was such an ego thing he could've carried the stuff. This guy obviously just wanted to get someone fired for nothing.

Old man needed to take a cart if he was planning to pick up a bag of dog food
He didn't read the complaint? I'm calling BS over that.

Story 2. Op shouldn't have let it go. Should have moved on with legal action. Clearly sexism
Story 2... The sexual discrimination complaint needs to go to the state.
their explanation smells of pure bull droppings.
as a 6 feet five inches tall male i have no issue accepting help from short women, this guy seems like he hates women who can carry anything heavier than a baby >.>
The story about the girl getting the write up had to be n the Villages in Florida. Some of the most miserable people in the world live there.
What was the point of the last story of there is no resolution!!! 😩
The second story is what Flori-Duh wants for the world.
what was the point of the last story,, nothing about the neighbors lawsuit or what happened to all the neighbors yards and if they had to make things right in their yards,, it was just a pointless story
If unions need a reason to expand it should be to protect retail and customer service from lying customers and managers that will fire you on that.
Does anyone knows anybody that does entitlement removal surgery?
I believe the operation you are referring to is a Lobotomie ( spelling might be wrong ), and can be performed by anyone.
I think that workers should change the way they see themselves. You are not "lucky to have a job".
