So great to see your admiration for this great plane ! Hope you had the chance to hear the roar from inside as well.
I adore a346 in every iteration but Lufthansa's sophisticated and elegant livery really take it to another level. Thank you so much for making a compilation of these increasingly rare birds!
after the era of the Lockheed Constellation-family and the demise of the Concorde, the A340-600 has to be the most impressive yet elegant bird up in the skies. I hope Lufthansa will reinstate some of them into scheduled service after the corona-craze has been overcome; after all I still want to have a chance to have my first experience flying on board this type as a passenger.
Had the pleasure of taking it once..only:(( from Frankfurt to Toronto May 2013. It is a nice plane and i believe Airbus' best aircraft after the A300. The A380 is and was an abomination. A340-600 one of the best in our skies, after iconic planes like the Boeing 707, Lockheed TriStar and 747... also Concorde but too expensive for my budget:))
Absolutely beautiful like a finely detailed sketch or crafted sculpture. It's truely a magnificent and majestically graceful aircraft. Sublime, lithe, enduring and effortless. It's airborn poetry of the most amazing adventure with a divinity that is detectable.
I like the 747, but there's something about the a346 that I like more; that long fuselage and four trents hanging down (unlike the a343 which has the smaller CFMs).
Such a long and thin aircraft. Hard to imagine how designers approved of it. Plus not really efficient. And I still wonder how it can accommodate less passengers than the 777-300. So ugly and no wonder why no longer in production.
It's a brilliant bird and was designed for a particular niche. You need appreciate the aircraft, im sure you could do no better on the design board in an attempt to cater to airline needs. As for this particular series of A340 it will be repurposed. Airlines with the 747 Domestic have requested that it be upgraded to serve the niche as the 747D is expensive to operate. Finally she is not thin, she is a wide body aircraft, her length in relation to her width plays tricks with your eyes so it appears to have minimal width. Long live the A340 family of aircraft.
everything is determined by the market. No wonder the programme is terminated and less than 400 units were produced. 777 outperformed A340 in every aspect
They are not rival planes as they are built for different markets, the A330 is more of a direct competitionfor the 777 and there the A330 has outsold the 777 over the padt few years...

couldn't have agreed more,a340-600 is the best looking plane,that nose is gorgeous....cabin is spacious with 2-4-2 config,good cabin height

THese things are really long, which means a lot of space. I am surprised there arent any cargo versions of them.
It's such a long distance span between the front wheels and the undercarriage wheels. Very long and narrow body as well.

Its not really thin, its a huge widebody actualy, and it can seat up to 420 passengers..
They are not rival planes as they are built for different markets, the A330 is more of a direct competitionfor the 777 and there the A330 has outsold the 777 over the padt few years...
777 is the Toyota Camry of the sky. Practical, bland and seen everywhere.
