So KDSS is off when driving straight, and only turns on when you quickly turn the wheel while the vehicle is in motion, not because the vehicle is moving greater than 15mph like DrKDSS advertises. So the only difference the switch would make is preventing KDSS to activate while turning in motion.
Driving fast through a trail usually means numerous and quick steering input. Does the KDSS system deactivate/reactivate between steering input intervals quick enough that when compared to a complete KDSS deactivation with a switch, does the difference in ride quality become negligible?? Toyota does advertise the KDSS valves opening and closing thousands of times every second. So perhaps yes.
In all, unless one can immediately feel a distinct ride quality improvement with the use of a KDSS switch without having to second guess themselves, its a complete waste of time and money. And it seems like thats very much what the case is.
Yes off-road the system turns on and off pretty quickly based on the LED I installed. I played with the switch for hundreds of miles off road and I can't feel a difference. That mod is definitely a gimmick

Seems like a switch that activates KDSS would be more desirable, especially when going through an off camber portion of a trail. You should make such switch and sell them haha

It'd be nice to be able to engage the sway bar on demand. It'd be helpful for off-camber traverses (probably not so useful in FL, but VERY useful in the mountains). Also...does your KDSS squeak?
Ive been thinking about that, could wire it up pretty easy... but you'd have to engage on flat ground prior to going off-camber. No squeaks yet
Any idea how to get the KDSS light off after deleting? I've tried disconnecting the KDSS ECU and fuse which didn't work. I'm more of a mechanical guy, but would measuring the resistances across the pins of the accumulator and adding resistors that match onto the harness get rid of the fault? BTW I deleted my KDSS and designed some brackets for a OEM style rear sway bar and welded those in. Rides great and minimal body roll.

Excellent video. I am about to change out my front struts on my GX today - was searching for whether I really need to open the shutter valves to do release the KDSS. Looks like all I need is a floor jack to push up on the front KDSS actuator to assist with the coil over swap out. We'll see. Please comment if you agree or if there is additional rationale for releasing the shutter valves for my mod!
You should check out my other kdss videos explaining the function of that system. Most of the time the accumulators are open and you can manipulate the cylinders independently
@@MudPuppyOffroad Thanks, will do. I just swapped out the coilovers w/o the need to open the KDSS Shutter Valves and w/o removing the sway bar. Just used a floor jack to help manipulate the KDSS front cylinder (lower the passenger side). Will be publishing that video soon on my channel.

Hey man, great educational research! I see that you are running large spare tire with KDSS, are you worried that the rear sway bar and the hydraulic pump run into the spare tire under off road articulation?
I checked all that. This spare barely clears the sway bar and cylinder how I have it positioned. I'm deleting kdss anyway though

Working on the delete RN it's a bear. I'll post a video in a few days hopefully. No sway bar up front. OEM sway bar rear with solid links and a manual disconnect

My 4Runner front ram has begun to seep oil. No dash lights or issues yet. I am thinking of removing the front sway bar if that will prevent the ram from continuing to leak. I’m wondering if oil will continue to seep past the piston if there’s no swaybar pushing up against the ram. Again, I’m hoping someone has first-hand experience with the same situation.
There will still be pressure in the ram when the rear cylinder locks up. The system is cross-linked. But it may help slow the leak

Did you try offroad by removing electric wire harness from the kdss actuator on the frame rail? So it will not engage whatever the steering wheel speed?
I unplug the KDSS computer which accomplishes the same thing prior to adding my switch which also accomplishes the same thing
Yes, but it seems not, if it’s changed with steering wheel speed, it’s not completely turned off. Because kdss actuator is the only output that controls kdss pistons right?
@@telmenluvsandorj3217 I think you have some kind of misunderstanding. From the factory, the system turns on if there are high g's or there is steering speed. When I disable it. The system remains in float mode. No matter what, there is no voltage available to close the lockout solenoids
How does it turn on if we cut off electric power from the kdss actuator by pulling its harness?
@@telmenluvsandorj3217 the signals that close the solenoids in the KDSS accumulator come from the KDSS computer. So if you remove power to the computer, there is no way to solenoids can shut. It's a pretty simple wiring diagram.
