I sounds like this was late in the concert as she seemed to be feeling the effects of a long performance. You have to admire someone who gives their all the way she does.
Actually! It's a very different thing singing in your home, in karaoke, in a recording studio, in a rehearsal studio, in a concert hall, in budokan, in a national sports stadium, etc. The sound comes back to your ears very differently. In such a large venue, the music comes back to you as a huge murky echo, and it can be very unnerving when you cannot hear yourself at all because everything is too loud. Plus, as the speakers face outwards towards the audience, the music that is being projected to the audience is coming back to you with a time lapse. Most singers use in-ear monitors, which are basically high-end speakers that look like earplugs, so that every one can hear each other and stay in time together. However, in a live situation, a professional sound engineer will be balancing all that together simultaneously, and it will *never* sound exactly the same as the studio version (hey, that's why we go to live concerts right). Say for example, if I've always relied on the keyboards to get the cue for my entrances, but if I cannot hear the keyboard very well today, it will be very unnerving. I will not know whether I'm still in-time with the band, or whether I'm even in tune. That moment of hesitation will change my breathing patterns, hence resulting in a change of sound. If I break pace for a split second, I might not be able to find my way back, because the music is still going and I was having trouble to begin with. If I manage to recover, I still feel nervous, because I'd already made one mistake. It's easy to tell myself to just keep going, but on stage, those 5 minutes feel like an eternity and a split second at the same time. You're trying to remember everything you had planned for this - your facial expressions, vocal flourishes, choreography, standing position, audience interaction segments, your lyrics, etc, but at the same time, I cannot go back and re-sing a wrong note and what's gone is gone. Plus, look at the sheer size of the event - butterflies in your stomach will upset your breath control. Just because she's a professional doesn't mean she's not human - idk if she was nervous, or having a flu, or a blister on her pinky toe - experienced veterans are used to dealing with this shit but my impression is that she has yet to accumulate as much live experience as, say LiSA. Towana is by no means incompetent, she's just being human~~ With fhana doing so well commercially, I'd expect the pressure on her to be immense as well. also, this song is difficult af
