Marcel- Your words REALLY struck a chord with me. I’ve always planned on leaving my collection to my kids when I pass. I totally agree with you that my kids would take a quick buck. I need to sell my collection when it’s time to get them the most possible.
The hobby of card collecting is much more than cardboard to people. So many people connect it to the love of a sport or passion. Great job of capturing the emotion in the connection between Marcel and Mario. Also, some great scenery let along the amazing cards that are in the collection. On another note, I think it is great that you include a local card shop in the episodes. This helps out the card shop owners to increase their visibility. Keep showcasing card shops on your adventures. Great job Matt!
This is a hard hitting episode. Futility of life and the future of a collection. There is some real emotion going on here. Yall are doing a great service and prayers to Mario and his family
My mom and my mother in law both passed from lung cancer... I just want to say, I hope everyone will keep this man & his family in your prayers. Sometimes it's all about who will take care of something and truly appreciate & take care of a collection. Goes way past a dollar. Appreciate what u have, wjo u have in your life, and appreciate every step along the way; along with those walking with you along rhe journey. 🙏
I keep telling you that you guys are so genuine. You guys connect with all these people and share such amazing stories. You deserve so many more subs. I also tell you this needs to be on a network. I’m starting to think that won’t work. You guys seem so real and a network would ruin the realism by creating a false drama. So here’s hoping you guys strive and continue to grow to 100k
Wow! You guys just keep hitting it out of the park with the episodes. I could not even imagine amounting a collection with such iconic greats, and to buy complete sets for $5 is amazing! I am very proud of the two of you for taking on the duty of selling the collection for him and his family. Cancer has unfortunately been a huge component of our family over the years. We have lost so many family members to it and I can understand Marcel's attachment and willingness to go above and beyond for him. Prayers to Mario and to you both during this journey. Cheers!
Love this guy. I have cards put away for my children and now grandchildren. It’s something I love and want too pass this on to them. I have sets that I have 63 Topps football. 1960 65 Topps baseball and working on 64 Topps baseball. It means so much to give apart of what I love to them
Great episode. Excellent storytelling. Amazing content/cards. And you both come across as sincere. Glad you showed the grades of the cards in same episode. You should be proud of the quality of the programs you create. Thanks for creating these episodes. I see Sports Card Radio as sort of Fox News-ish Geoff’s shows are a spin on Bloomberg News with a little MTV Cribs (Slabs) mixed in. But your content is the most entertaining and, may sound sappy, but kind hearted. Keep up the great work.
21:52. If you think you know about card collecting, this should be the take-away. This guy bailed in 81-82… It got 10x worse in 89-90… Tack on the post pandemic glut… Pre-1977 is where it’s at. Vintage Football, early non-sport… try finding it.
This show should really be on a network. My mom got me into collecting and I stopped when I joined the Navy. My mom passed of breast cancer and going back home finding some of the cards I had just recently got me back into collecting.
Wow, this video really hits home, as I age and try to figure out when, how or what to leave to my 2 sons from my collection, it is nice to know there are some really great people to help in this industry. Hopefully when that time comes I can find someone like you guys near me.

You have definitely earned a lifelong fan and admirable follower for the rest of my days I commend you gentlemen for being what this hobby has always embodied to me and that is family and friendship for even those we have just met. Thank you
People need to realise that their kids may not have a fraction of the understanding of the collections they have made over a lifetime that they have, Maybe spend some time gradually liquidating them whilst they are alive and also fit to do so. It is such a shame if people like Mario do not see their kids get the benefit of what they hope to leave them.

Really love these shows, I do think though paying 60% on vintage is just crazy to me. It’s hard to find people selling vintage even at sales let alone being able to buy at 60%. I understand the work grading etc. but good eye appeal practical gives you a premium over the sales and practical pays for the grading itself
Definitely disagree …. Especially the last 3-4 months. Cash deals are almost always 60-70% off comps. Time, hassle, risk, etc…. All make even 60% cash a pretty attractive option for most people.
I love this channel so much. Best sports card channel on RUclips hands down. Needs to be on Netflix or something though, so that many more can enjoy these epic people and stories.

Hands down my favorite episode by far.... This was moving... .. Chards changes lives and bring people together.. Just avoid the sharks like a minnow....
Great episode as always - goes without saying at this point. I'd love to see an explanation of how PSA grades vintage vs. modern (Maybe I can find that on Bench Clear Media?) If that Satchel Page is a THREE is anything higher than a four even possible? Or do they just knock off 6 grades for being old? (Or, at the trust levels I have for PSA, do they reserve 5+ grades on vintage for people they like and/or provide kick backs? - and you're probably on their naughty list right now.)
Haha we have open communication with them. It’s all good. Grading vintage is hard. The cards usually have slight surface issues and edges are rough. Always hard to see on a video.
Who here used to play the baseball game on the back to 1978 Topps? I did. That is fun. Can be done with 2002 archives 1978 cards too. Just not as many as the original but the Heritage X 1978 in 2027 will have more... that's how we flipped on the block in Brooklyn NY (original home of Topps BTW) for what I paid for my cards, I can take 60%-70% comp. People in NYC wanted to always give 20%-40% and hates when you know the actual value and condition. I hardly sold anything. Lost quite a bit through theft but it wasn't more than what I have now because I don't have the newer or notable RPAs (I BARELEY have my Brady RC and Steph UD First Edition RC PSA 9 from pandemic unemployment money, most I made in my life and I invested in graded and gradeable cards.)
This was a really solid episode. Mario's collection is amazing and how you and Marcel went about it was a great watch, but I also really liked the "travel piece" on the coffee and card shop. Fine work all around.
Beautiful episode guys. F*ck Cancer! It’s truly wild to me that those iconic vintage cards of absolute baseball gods are valued less than current day prospects!
I love how you guys bring the nostalgia too collecting in your videos.Alot if today's collectors are all about how much profit can I make 💰💰💰💰, it's sad really but that's society today.Thank you for the videos GODBLESS

@12:40 "top-sies" (sp?? haha) in many parts of canada. not to be confused with farth-ies and knock-downs.
🤷🏻♂️
Thank you John!
Love this brother.
Thank you Brian!
Great Episode! Good Health to Mario! Love this channel! That coffee/Card is a dream of ours! Love the Hobby!
Beautiful episode guys. F*ck Cancer!
It’s truly wild to me that those iconic vintage cards of absolute baseball gods are valued less than current day prospects!
I know right?! Why!!!
Same thoughts I had. crazy
🙏🏼
Thanks!
More!!!!!!!
A follow up on this one would be cool
I love how you guys bring the nostalgia too collecting in your videos.Alot if today's collectors are all about how much profit can I make 💰💰💰💰, it's sad really but that's society today.Thank you for the videos GODBLESS
You got it Derek!
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD other thing is the prices are way too ridiculous take for example 2022 select everyone in their brother is buying and selling it the product won't be worth anything in 10 15 years too much of it not elusive
Great video. I sat through all commercials for ya.👍
You're the best! I wondered where that 3 cents came from. 🤣
Awesome video!
Thanks so much Nathan!
Awesome 😎 episode
Damn, this made me think of my kids and what they would do with my collection.
You and me both!
As someone who was left with a collection when my FIL passed, I can tell you that whatever you can do to prepare your collection for the next generation, the easier it will be for them. Just leaving binders and boxes full of cards can leave them with a lot of work.
Another Great Episode!
Thank you Jeff!
Good job Marcel. I always enjoy the ones your in.
great video! But top loading without soft sleeves is crazy. lol.
Agreed.
