@@thomasbell5283 to choose Christianity over Islam is just foolish if you excuse my honesty.christianity is included within Islam and it makes much more sense within Islam. As for the teachings, they're so similar the canonical law is fundamentally same as the Sharia , however the core of Christianity has been tempered with by the clergy to make it more appealling to the masses and to avoid losing its followers after the widespread of liberalism in the European societies. Read your Bible with open mind then read the Quran , you will find many of * the controversial* teachings such us Hijab, polygamy.stance on homosexuality, holy war ect .exist within Christianity as well. The religion has been massively watered down over time that it stands for nothing anymore. Nowadays, it's only followed by those who want to live liberal lifestyle but want to get rid of the guilt that comes with immorality so following one's desires in this life yet having confidence of a good outcome in the after life. Desire=immorality and immorality is the opposite pole of any religion so it just doesn't add up and this explains the decline in church goers as the majority become less and less practicing because as I said the religion isn't in line with the Holy scriptures anymore. Plus the Idea of a Triune God is just confusing to most afherants whome they just go with the flow or convert to a true monotheistic religion after a soul search process . Modern Christianity is just so Roman influenced , the Romans were polytheists and they wanted to keep an idol at the altar of their temples , they always believed in Gods that have sons and wives and just like that they projected their faulty human perception on the One Omnipotent Creator . If you want a piece of advice , do your research *fairly* then make your mind based on that - life is short. According to the Bible Jesus Christ used to put his face on the ground when praying. King David used to prostray when praying, Jesus was circumcised and his Holy mother covered her hair and dressed modestly, He ate kosher and never ate pork.he never drunk alcohol. Who's more following of Jesus Christ Muslims or Christians? Peace

I read somewhere that the black hijaab was a practice of Shia women in mourning of the martyrdom of Imaam Hussein RA. It became popular because of the Abbasids leaning on support from Shia against the Ummayads.
I think it's important that people recognise what the Shaykh says has been said by numerous academics and Islamic scholars. The difference is that he seamlessly blends classical Western liberal insights with the Islamic tradition.

    Sunan Abi Dawud 4101
    Narrated Umm Salamah, Ummul Mu'minin:
When the verse "That they should cast their outer garments over their persons" was revealed, the women of Ansar came out as if they had crows over their heads by wearing outer garments.
The word crow suggests female companions(May Allah be pleased with them) suggests the colour of the khimar was black.

    • @seletarroots3258
      @seletarroots3258 2 года назад +2

Firstly, this is not a hadith of the Prophet but of Aisha. Second, there is no requirement mentioned here. No demand. No exclamation. There is only a report of what (supposedly) happened when a verse was revealed. Thirdly, why are only the women of the Ansar mentioned? What did the other women do? Did all the Ansar women do it or just some? If not all, why not? Why did they differ, if all the Ansar women did it (and where is the proof that all of them did it)? Fourthly, why would the color be black? Is it not possible to also interpret it as meaning that they held their outer garments above their heads as if to protect it from the imagined crows? Kind of like when you hold part of a jacket or other garment slightly raised above the head protecting it from rain.
As Hamza says, as far as meaning is concerned there is no consensus of the mutawatir kind. As such one must remain humble and accept many different understandings and outcomes.

Wearing black for funerals is more a Christian and pagan thing actually .
Also black is referred to in the Arab world because there is authentic Hadith which no scholar has said is weak that when the verse of the hijab came down women tore garments and wore it form the head down and they were shrouded such they looked like black crows . Now you don’t look like a crow wearing white or yellow . It would be a dark colour .
As for cultural interpretations of hijab that’s fine as long as it meets the standards prescribed in Quran and sunnah . If people want to wear brigh ostentatious colours that’s up to them . But we are warned to be modest and not draw attention to ourselves or look attractive in the hijab or use the hijab as an adornment. Colour and patterns can bring in those problems . So although these things aren’t haram I prefer dark or neutral colours as do many many sisters who take on full hijab. If another sister prefer sky blue or yellow with stripes it’s not haram per se but she is to use her judgement .
However to claim black hijab is bogus and not supported by Quran and sunnah is not true either . In Islam we don’t have special funereal colours . Wear hijab wear your modest clothing don’t wear fancy party wear because that would be distasteful, but colours and patterns don’t matter

Brilliant as usual and, as a Muslim revert with Egyptian wife, Mashallah, it's so obvious where a lot of this fascist/clerical nonsense comes from; Wahhabist Saudi Arabia and the wicked imaginings of extremists so-called scholars. None of their rubbish about dress is to be found in either the Quran or the early teachings of this beautiful faith of ours. These difficult questions, about how we treat women, are vital to Islam's future. In Egypt, black is worn by Coptic clerics as everyday wear as they are mourning Islam's growth and power...Worse still, so many bad ideas that become "tradition" and are unquestioned. And who are these scholars? I'm told to revere them, to listen to them and learn from them....and the scholar I follow is Hamza Yusuf and, of course, Shayk Nazim. Call me Western but simply adopting the worse, most negative, most destructive and mentally controlling aspects of a limited form of Islam promoted by a tiny minority of very "unMuslim" bigmouths is the way to destruction.......

Islamic cultures are rooted in diversity. Wearing black Burqa or Niqab is not the requirement of the religion, modesty is. But due to desert climate,it was sensible to cover face n body to have protection from wind n sun. ..... with time,it became a must thing. In South East Asia, copying Arab code of dress became popular n fashionable forgetting the traditional cultural way of attire.

In fact lots of Muslim communities wear white during mourning، white clothes are pure as indicated in hadith ...especially women wear it in the period of 4 months and 10 Hadad حداد time...
He spoke of his western upbringing in wearing black during funeral or after it.
Hijab isn't what women wear and that's a fact what Muslim women wear is called Jalbab... Hijab actually means barrier like a wall or something like that. The Ayah in Surat Al-Ahzab. Allah knows best

Many women choose to wear black, not because it is obligatory, but because it is farthest removed from being an adornment. There are reports which indicate that the women of the Sahaabah used to wear black. Abu Dawood (4101) narrated that Umm Salamah said: “When the words ‘and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms)’ [al-Noor 24:31 - interpretation of the meaning] were revealed, the women of the Ansaar went out looking as if there were crows on their heads because of their garments.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.
The Standing Committee (17/110) said: This is to be understood as meaning that those clothes were black in colour.

Covered from head to toe (including face) in all black. ImNot sure why this speaker omitted the hadith of one of the sahaabiyat which is captured in authentic hadith collection of abu dawood:
Abu Dawood, may Allaah have mercy on him, in al-Sunan, from Umm Salamah who said: “When the aayah ‘… to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies…’ [al-Ahzaab 33:59 - interpretation of the meaning] was revealed, the women of the Ansaar came out looking as if there were crows on their heads, because of their clothing.” (Sunan Abi Dawood, Kitaab al-Libaas, Baab fi qawlihi ta’aala: yubneena ‘alayhinna jalaabeebihinna). The author of ‘Awn al-Ma’bood fi Sharh Sunan Abi Dawood said, commenting on this phrase: “Their veils were likened to crows because of their black colour.”

Where in the quran and sunna is the black hijab, abiyah looked down on, frowned upon. The wearing of black as a sign of mourning is Christian tradition. We don't need their practices, traditions to instruct dictate our perfect scales ie sharia, as to what is right or wrong, negative viewed in the eyes of other faiths, black clothing is seen as a symbol of morning. Astagh firula. The black colour used is to deflect attention, not strictly black, but alternatively other colours bland not bright, without amazing patterns as this goes against the goals of Allah's legislation and its accompanying wisdoms. That's is really out of place of brother Hamza, saying this may Allah guide him and that he retracts this incorrect statement. And with Allah lies success.

Where is the burka coming from, it’s forced on women in Afghanistan, but it is not Afghan culture. The Afghan women dress code is extremely beautiful and modest but by some it’s not considered Islamic.

@sigmagrindset86 I lived my whole life in the most Pashtuns in the deep south, my mom had to buy a burqa when moved to capital city Kabul, I seen it with my own eyes how strange the burqa was to Pashtuns specifically.
I seen the big chador, with special way of wearing it amongst women in many Pashtuns, and you could know a woman from the way she was wearing her chador or the design of it.

Brother these are very beneficial Islamic lectures and it would be of even greater benefit if you refrain from putting videos of Non-Mahram females or blur out their faces. JazakAllah

I don’t like bur-car, it,s ok for those countries and for that time frame . Now you need to dress modest clothes . Time has change.people need to grow with time. Quran says be modest. ✌🏽👍
