    I think it would be really cool if the movers were all bookish related! Like a hand, e-reader, bookmark, glasses, headphones, book bag, etc. don’t know if that’s possible! 🤓

      I was thinking a book but I like these ideas too. A little bookmark or TBR tote bag. 😍

      Yes I love this!! thank you so much for this I couldn’t decide if it would be odd since the board is actually a shelf 😂 sometimes I can’t suspend reality well enough to make creative decisions hahah.

    I love this! I will be buying a few, one for me and for my book-loving friends 🥰. My suggestion is to have the game board thicker so the slots where the tiles go can be imbedded/indented into the board so they don’t slip around while you move your person along the tiles. I have 2 kids, and I can see it happening now: they want to help me play and bump the board all over the table, shifting everything each time 😆. Having the player piece be a hand is a neat idea. I also think a bookmark would work. Like the bookmark is holding the place on the shelf for the book you’re “pulling” to read off your shelf, represented by the tile you land on. Again, GREAT job, you little creative genius! 🎉

    LOVE this idea. To add to the genre conversation, I feel like graphic novels/comic books/manga etc are a core genre? Or maybe it's just me with the 1/4 graphic novel bookshelf. 😅

    I would love to be able to add a specific tile and prompt set where I get to pick actual book titles and landing on that space means I have to read whatever book I pull from the custom book deck. Maybe if these are eraser board style, we can erase and add new books as we go? 😅

  • @scheherazade2291
    @scheherazade2291 Год назад +13

    This might be too big of a change, but maybe if the board can have a “divot” instead of just an outline where the tiles can fit in.
    I would also recommend having an extra set of the blank cards as an expansion that people can buy.
    I think the genre one is fine (I would add like gothic, lgbtq, contemporary/urban, dark academia, etc or maybe a sub genre expansion), but maybe in your instructions, say that the genre cards can be a sub genre. So like, I read mainly fantasy. If I pulled the romance card, I would know to choose a romantic fantasy. This might save you from people wanting you to add a bunch of sub genres.
    I’m not sure if you have this, but I would also love to see prompts that have people choose books written or about BIPOC authors/characters. Or even more specific, so like, “choose a book set in east Asia” or something. Or maybe that can be like a diverse reads expansion.

    I love this and can’t wait to support the game! Maybe if there was a way to add like divots or imprints that the books could sit in on the board so the pieces don’t move as easily? Like for people with kids or dogs/animals the tiles wouldn’t just fly off the board.

    • @allradreads
      @allradreads  Год назад +9

      I totally understand the concern about the tiles/wanting the board to have indentions, unfortunately the only way we could divot the board would be making it out of an entirely different material and it would hike the price wayyyyy up or we would have to make the board a fourth of its current size, neither of which were sacrifices I was comfortable making. I have a cat, dog, and baby in my home so I totally understand the concern of them knocking the tiles off haha. The actual game play is so quick though I haven't had any issues with them knocking it off yet because I just fold it all back up into the box and then there's nothing for them to knock off anymore. That was a BIG reason I changed up the actual way you play so that way people weren't just having to leave a game out for weeks, months on end. Hope all of that made sense and let me know if you have any other questions/ideas!

    I think a tile bag would be a great idea. I think a shopping cart game piece would also be cute. One recommendation I have is to refer to tokens as points or something similar instead, since there are no physical tokens to be gained

  • @TheRachaelful

    Maybe instead of landing directly on the tiles you could have a path above or below for the token to go

    Yay!!! SO EXCITED that the prototype is there!!! 🥳💕
    It looks so good! And you explained the Raven cards really well.
    Those holiday tiles are adorable! 😍
    And I love the prompts for them. 🎄
    Brillant that you're providing substitutions/blanks so prompts can fit everyone!
    I'd recommend adding the YA genre! Also, Romantasy is going big now (Foirth Wing)!
    I think the wooden person or hand would be cute - what about a book or bookmark or shopping cart/tote bag? 😋 Just throwing oit ideas - or a couple in case your family wants to play the game each month with you?
    The score pad is cute - I'm most excited to color in finished books to see at the end of the year how many physical books finally got cleared from my shelf! 💕
    I'll be playing a year-long version with my normal TBR game - I've already talked about this being added next year, on my channel (Aubrey Books and Coffee). 🤗
    I love that you can color in books for non-game book picks off your shelf too!
    Let us know when you do the kickstarter for sure!!! 🎉

  • @mlwood2903
    @mlwood2903 Год назад

    Love the game. I can’t wait to purchase it in the future. My YT just recommended this video and now I have to watch all of your TBR game videos.
    You could also do seasonal packs (Spring, Summer, Fall/Autumn, Winter).
    And I know someone mentioned just writing out the book titles on the back but maybe you could have a printed out list for the potential 100 books on the back of each score sheet for people to write down the books they completed and that way they can just color the front of the sheet.

  • @tera247
    @tera247 Год назад +1

    This is going to be so stinking fun. A bookish mover piece would be cool like others said (book, bookmark, TBR tote bag, etc).
    For the challenge cards, maybe a brown border like the prompt cards but still have the center as the white/green with the swords. If that makes sense. 😅
    I love the thoughts of expansion packs too. This is making my board game loving self so happy. 🥰

    Maybe not so shiny, very reflective with lights. The tiles and tile spots maybe have them be magnetic cause I just know I’d bump the board and ruin the layout. Halloween holiday cards or maybe an all holiday design. I know there’s books that center around multiple holidays

    • @allradreads
      @allradreads  Год назад

      The actual game won’t be gloss it will be matte! So no worries on the shine. While we’d making it magnetic would be helpful, that’s another thing I know people would love but the game would encounter a huge price increase or we would have to restructure the game board to accommodate it being magnetic and neither were things I felt comfortable doing. We will have a Halloween/fall pack for sure! I just threw in the Christmas ones for myself right now ☺️

    My thoughts: What if *some* of the tiles are permanent and some are removable so there aren't so many to set up (or for my kids to run through and mess up 😂), but then you could still add the seasonal packs (which I LOVE).
    I would love if it included multiple player pieces so my husband and I could play together. I think that would be so fun to add a multi-player aspect.
    Seriously though! Amazing job!! So happy for you 🩷

    SarahBeth, this game is so cool! You clearly put so much love and effort into it and it shows!
    For genres, what do you think about middle grade or YA? I know those are age ranges and not really genres. Or graphic novel/short story/novella? I love the idea of the blank cards so people can add their own. Depending on deck pricing, I think ~4 per category might be nice!

  • @jodydiou
    @jodydiou Год назад

    I really like the 100 books on the score sheet, but I don't know about coloring in the books for the tokens. It would be REALLY NICE to actually get tokens. Maybe something you can print out?!?!?! Cut out?!?!?!

    • @allradreads
      @allradreads  Год назад +4

      We went back and forth on this for awhile until we settled on the sheet because I had tokens originally. Buuuuut, there was no way to keep track of them game to game so I ended up writing down the number anyways. So I felt like this was a bit more fun of a way to keep track of them versus just writing down the number! I might see about doing an add-on that has a piggy bank style storage and real tokens if enough people want physical tokens.

      I want to know what kind of scrabble board you have because I checked all of our copies of scrabble and none of them have divots! I would love that for convenience when playing but apparently I'm buying the wrong kind of scrabble hahaha.
      Here is what I've been sharing with other comments about the divots: I totally understand the concern about the tiles/wanting the board to have indentions, unfortunately the only way we could divot the board would be making it out of an entirely different material and it would hike the price wayyyyy up or we would have to make the board a fourth of its current size, neither of which were sacrifices I was comfortable making. • @kristini.8950
    @kristini.8950 Год назад

    Is there anyway to make the pieces magnetic? That way they would maybe stay secured on the board. The game setup and pieces look great! I’m confused as to the token portion. If you are checking off book on your tracker, and the card gives you extra tokens, those aren’t actual books read so how is that able to be considered part of total books read?

    • @allradreads
      @allradreads  Год назад

      As far as score keeping goes, if you’re playing “Challenge Accepted” mode you’re using the score sheet to keep track of your points. One book filled in = a book token/point. The extra points get filled in as books as well! It would just be tracking you until you hit 100 points. If you wanted to use it as a reading tracker there are tons of sheets so you could always use one for that! Let me know if that doesn’t make sense.

    When you’re playing challenge mode what happens depending on how many points you get?

    • @allradreads
      @allradreads  Год назад

      When playing challenge accepted you can get points in four ways: 1. You get a point for every book you read you put on the TBR (this is ones you read because of a prompt in the game) 2. You get +2 points if you read all the books you put on the TBR, 3. You get additional points per any challenge cards you drew and completed, 4. You get +1 point for every TWO physical books you read that you already own that weren’t on your TBR.
      I hope that clears things up! Let me know if you still have questions. Obviously the written instructions will likely be better than my rambling hahah.
