I’ve often thought of Momotaro how “Momotaro doesn’t mess around” and now I see where he gets that trait: Mama Momoko doesn’t mess around either! When Riki first tried to steal the wee plum, Momoko went hard and snarly on him lol. I’ve only watched Momoko occasionally over the years, now watch more regularly of course because of interest in baby Sumomo but she is a queen among gorillas, and is very comfortable as a mother. I can see similarities in her behaviour and Momotaro’s for sure. 🦍♥️
Absolutely right! You can see why she wouldn't tolerate Genki when they were together! She's a tough cookie and knows her position! Awesome mom and has raised some of the most beautiful Offspring in the gorilla world ❤️😊🦍

They are two alpha females, I think, but between the two, Genki is more neurotic and Momoko more fiercely assertive so i could see that with “gorilla style” peer pressure, Genki would be more likely to be intimidated by Momoko when the two were housed together. Of course, Genki had that horrific stress response of self-mutilation and significant weight loss. (Really the zoo never should have let the discord get to that degree but we can only hope they learned from that going forward and Genki is now well and recovered with her own beautiful family so gratitude for that.). But yes you are right. And while I see Genki as strong-willed too (Kintaro has inherited her strong will and maybe even gets that extra dose from grandma Momoko) but because Momoko doesn’t seem to have the vulnerable psyche that Genki has, over time, momoko would likely prevail in any battle of wills between the two. 🦍♥️
Mama does know best she encourages her to walk the siblings will just carry her. What is funny when mommy has her walk the siblings run over to grab her 😂
Momotaro genes are pretty dang good. He's a such a good looking clean silverback. He might start looking more grizzly/hairy like Haoko as he gets older. Definitely not the greatest Silverback behavior wise because he never had a father. have you ever seen Momotaro swinging on the roof collecting grass. It's insane that 400 pounds of muscle can move around like that on beams and roof fences.
You are *so* right! Momotaro's grace and power are spectacular! I think so every time I watch him! Have you seen him flying around on the *indoor* beams too? I've seen him run up and around on those indoor beams to protect his family. It's *amazing* how fast that "400 pounds of muscle" can effortlessly fly thru the air!✈🦍🤯 It didn't look like he was even *touching* those beams!😲 Magnificent Momotaro in action, is truly a thing of beauty, and something to behold!💗💪👑🦍
@@bigboytoyz541 I *love* how clean and tidy he is! He's so particular! I also love it when he strikes a pose. He looks so regal, just magnificent! It fascinates me to observe each of their personalities. They are so humanlike...their actions, their postures, and especially their facial expressions. You can read their emotions just like we read each other. Their eyes are something else! They can tell you the whole story, just like us! I think Momotaro's eyes can be very intense and/or very alert to his suroundings. I've seen Genki's eyes show so much love (mostly when looking at Kintaro). To me, Gentaro's eyes, most of the time seem gentle, contemplative, and even soulful. Kintaro's eyes look smart, and especially lately, very mischievous! I think Gentaro acts and looks the most like humans. They seem so much like us sometimes, it freaks me out! Then they turn around and do something that reminds you that they *are* in fact animals. Just fascinating to watch!

3 years older, Momoko is the female that arrived and took over as alpha female, between the stress of that and losing her child Genki started mutilating herself. So they moved her back to Kyoto, where the silverback killed her mother. So lots of trauma for poor Genki.
So the zoo's in Japan are sending people out to capture wild gorilla's ? How did she get to a Japanese zoo ? I don't think the Japanese look upon these animals with much respect. Can you explain this situation with Momoko

Momo’s Daddy died before he was born. He lived with his mother alone, doubtful he even knows Haoka is.
They say silverbacks are stronger than 6-9 human males. Blows my mind!
