hmmm,... you are right ... New Year is a family holiday so I would never invite even close friends. But for New Year Eve, some temples will let people join in 除夜の鐘 (bell ring). In suburbs this is really fun and sometimes you can see the town elders walking through the streets reminding people to be careful with electric blankets and kotatsu. Ryogaku weather is extremely mild this month ... also, regarding flu, one of my relatives just caught it and more people seem to be coughing. Anyway, the health ministry raised alarm to the country.
@@NinjaMonkeyguy If you go to Izu Peninsula this Winter I think kinmedai is extremely good to eat. It does not keep very long so I would never eat it in Tokyo.
