    Hi, I just wanted to help you out.. as my son has autism and we are making him a bubble wall which is 850mm wide by 2000mm tall and it’s going really well so far. Anyway my suggestion to you is not to use 2 sheets together but instead use a polycarbonate twin wall panel that way you don’t have so much to seal. We also used air bricks not the pipe with holes. Ours is working really well and once the frame is finished and it’s all been painted it will be my sons bday present in a couple of weeks 😊 I hope this helps 🤞🏻

      Cool! Sounds like a great project. And I appreciate the idea on the twin wall panels. I haven't seen those before. You would still have to seal the bottom but it will eliminate the problem of the two sides bowing out in the middle that was causing my sealant to separate.

    • @traceylatham2063

      The bottom has 2 air bricks stuck to it and then sealed either side. Both air bricks are 18” long and both have 1 way valves attached, we have just connected a stronger pump in order to get bigger bubbles but the twin or multi wall polycarbonate sheet is definitely the best option ☺️

    Great video! Nice reality check some times. I have had a few of those projects. Tried a first for me recently, I fixed 2 smart phones. One busted LCD screen and one swollen battery breaking the back glass on a Samsung Galaxy S6. Didn't record because I was sure it would take way to long and I would mess it up. It did take a couple hours to get them all done but, luckily they are working great! The camera just takes way to much work sometimes. Probably make a video next time. Thanks for sharing Jason. - Danny

    instead of using plexiglass, try polycarbonate sheet twin. That way you don’t take the risk and and it's less work and instead of using tube aquarium and make holes “use air stone “ that way is more bubbles.

    You should have used thicker plexiglass like a 1/4 or 3/8 and instead of silicone glue use acrylic cement it works really good for acrylic you cannot separate them after

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance 3 года назад +4

      The front piece was 1/4. It still bows quite a bit. If I had to do it over again I would have put at least 2 inner support pieces connecting the front and back together in the middle to prevent bowing. I would have also investigated further into better sealers for plexiglass than silicone caulk. But that is why I posted the video to show because there are a few dozen "diy bubble wall" videos on RUclips with millions of combined views that are cutting those corners and I am here to tell people it won't work.

    • @aliG..
      @aliG.. 3 года назад

      @@LDSreliance yea I think a support is a perfect idea like the ones with small circles inside.
      I know I want to start this project for back of my desk but the videos are not detailed like I’m not really sure how I’m going to put the air tube in I don’t know if I should put it from bottom and use silicone but I don’t think that little silicone can hold the pressure or how the water not gonna go down the air tube and leak or how I’m going to mount it to the wall your video was helpful because it brought me to the realization that this not going to be easy project and showed me the things that I got to be careful on because I haven’t seen a video with good instruction on how to do it most of them are like 5 min craft videos thank you for putting time and showing the reality of it

  • @John-zf2ph
    @John-zf2ph 2 года назад

    I have had fish tanks that were 80 gallons using acrylic/plexiglass and I have never had a seal problem. I think your issue is sealant and sealtime. I would use aquarium sealant/caulking.

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance 2 года назад +2

      The acrylic that is used in aquariums is quite thick and doesn't flex as much as this did. They also cost an arm and a leg... 2-4x more than a comparable glass aquarium. I don't have the budget to make bubble wall like Fort Knox, unfortunately. I used the exact same materials as in the videos that I mentioned and got poor results. So this is more of an indictment on fake RUclips videos than what I could have done better on my own.

    To glue plexiglass use acetone or a specialty plexiglass adhesive. Silicon was the wrong choice as you found out. What a pity that you spent all that time and energy on this. Try again with thicker plexiglass for front and back. Cheers.

    • @LDSreliance
      @LDSreliance 3 года назад +5

      Yeah, I agree. If I had thought through it before hand I would have remembered that there are special adhesives used in aquariums and other applications that would have been much better. But that is kind of my point in the video... these sweet looking DIY videos often use bad materials or don't even tell you what specific materials to use and just say "sealant" or something.
