Hi everyone! I've been working at restaurant depot for eight years. Im an asst. Manager at restaurant depot in one of the Massachusetts branches. Normally its closed to the general public but due to covid they are allowing anyone to shop there as long as you have a form of i.d. Ask your local restaurant depot if its open to the public. It may vary depending on where you live but I can say that in New England and New York its still opened to the public. As of the time im writing this. Hope this helps! BTW New to the channel great video!
Hi, I love Restaurant Depot! If you’re a 501C3 charity you can get a free membership. I have found RD is not always cheaper for some things like cleaning supplies or bottled water.
I like Restaurant Depot. Also even if you do not have a business you van still sign in and get a day pass just by showing an I.D.. You are correct that they often require you to buy a 40lb case. I daw they had a special on spiral cut hans for $1.99 per lb but you have to buy a 40lb whole leg of ham. I did get a hell of a deal on ribeye steaks though it is the whole ribeye and you have to do some burchering yourself. The prices are great though.
Most people who are buying from RD aren't afraid to do a little work to make/save a few dollars, so cutting the ribeye seems like a walk in the park! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Interesting. Seems that does not hold true everywhere. Maybe there are different rules and regs depending on location as to who can and cannot shop in the stores.
For me in WI and one in MN they let the public in on a day pass. So you can always call and ask do they allow day passes. Just bring a drivers license.
Hey Dash... I've not made it to the Depot yet, however, I need to.. I recently bought a few items at our local Costco and the prices have REALLY gone up.. A package of non organic wings was $27 and a 3 pack of baby backs was $47!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but prices have SKYROCKETED across the board including at RD so best bet is to keep an eye out on multiple stores for everything and compare compare compare prices, almost daily to seek out the best "deals".
Good information Dash! We have one near us and I do want to see about a membership, but we do not have an LLC yet. My main purpose is I want nice sized whole wings. That is something I cannot find to easily! Have a great weekend!
Well done. It's always good to shop around, provided one has the time. If one doesn't have the time, go where you're sure they will have everything you need. Currently if I don't get to the RD I go to by Monday or Tuesday, I'm probably not going to be able to get Babybacks ( here in the Northwest Babybacks WAY outsell spares. Folks don't care for spares as much. And the RD I go to only receive pork products on Mondays ( just one day a week, unbelievable). Anyway Chefs supply ( it's another cash and carry store, that's a industry name for stores like Restaurant Depot) knows this and is a Northwest chain and started to be open to general retail and does a better job of normally having Babybacks in store but boy howdy, at a terrible price. They used to always be at $3 lb or less. Now expect $5 lb. Anyway like I was saying keep a eye on all pork prices. California is already feeling their self inflicted pain on pork but hopefully it will help the rest of us. Gotta go, here fishy fishy. 😄🎣
We have a place you can order on line close to that. Now Costco have cases like this. I can buy if I like to. Very interesting - Dad I can use the card lol. Stay safe & take care of you all. Thanks for sharing eh :))
There are times when Costco and or Sam's will have better prices but they might not always have the selection I am looking for. Lets say I need a 10lb brisket for a small 5lb order... I can go to RD and pay 15-25 cents more per pound and get what I need as opposed to having to buy a 18-20lb brisket that I will be too big. There are definitely trade offs at times.
Sidebar... there are no Costco Business Centers in my area, just like I'm sure there are NO Restaurant Depots in some places. Your mileage may vary on what's available and where you can get it from.
@@SDSBBQs Ah well I have one of each in my town. Just call me lucky. Brisket has been running close to $6 a pound at Restaurant Depot and just under $5 at the Costco business center.
Is it just me or is it RD's business plan to have 40 people driving fork lifts and 2 folks checking out customers? Oh they also hate trees because the receipts are longer than Walgreens...lol
It can be. A LLC is just the formation of a company, a business license, could be something required by your state, county, city or town to actually "DO" business. Think permits, certifications and such.
Guess this will be next week's video, lol. It's not all that hard. Just depends on how much you want to do and or what you are willing to pay to get done. So I went the Legal Zoom route (years ago) and it was like using turbo tax, you just answer questions and pay. Wait a few weeks and your documents show up in the mail.

Thank you so very much for watching and commenting! I really appreciate your unique perspective and insight.
Are they still doing this? i just found out about this organization and would like to go. No business though.
Great video Dash. You helped me get into RD over a year ago during your livestream, it’s great to see this to help everyone out. Great job!
Thank you Sir so glad I could help!
Great video! I've had this question for a while but never bothered to do the research. Appreciate it 🙏
Well glad someone else did ask. I find that is one person has a question others have the same question and didn't know they needed it answered.

Yes indeed I have found that they don't always have the cheapest prices, but they are sometimes the most convenient for one stop shopping.

US Foods is a restaurant store and open to the public too!
Nice I didn't know that they were open to the public as well. Thanks
This was very informative, thank you.
Sure thing, and thanks again for watching and commenting 😀
Another useful and informative video. Thank you Dash!
So glad I am able to put these videos out and they help people!
Awesome information as always. Yes sir
Thank you Sir! You know you fall into the having a friend who can get you in category, lol.
Here in Birmingham, Alabama they let everyone one in everyday with no membership. I been going there for years. I'm just a backyard cook.

Hmm... thanks for that info. I am guessing that that could be on a store by store basis.
Just went in today and was given a guest day pass. Alexandria, VA.
Nice!

Thanks again for the heads up!
I love their special brisket. I cant remember the name but is suppose to be the better grade they have.
They sell choice and select (I think) so maybe it's the select you are thinking of.
@@SDSBBQs i forget the name of it but its the better grade. i forget which one is the better one but it was like 5.59 a pound.
Yeah pretty sure it's Select, I don't think they sell Prime briskets.

It says on their own website if you don't have a business license that you can get a day pass...so....I'll get a day pass.
That is a recent thing after Covid.
It's free tho.
I have a clothing LLC u think they will take it to just asking for a friend
They don't care what type of business you have, just as long as you have a business.
Awe ok cool because I was about to do another LLC
@4:26 how to get into restaurant depot :)
I see what you did there...
Great information good afternoon If your llc does not relate to food services can you still have a membership?
Yes, just as long as you have a business.
I have to tell you Dash but Costco business center has better prices on beef like brisket and ribs than Restaurant Depot does lately.

Can confirm all of the above! LMAO 🤣
So is an LLC different than a business license?
