I worked out the clickety-clack,i saw a gouge mark on the plastic in the bottom of the channel of the classic track. Well done ,for that .I hope more peeps get more satisfaction from a quieter race.

Great video, you gave me the info I needed on new cars on old track. I’m new to slot cars and got an old Le Mans set out of the loft. Both cars need repairs so bought two new cars to get me over Xmas with the Grandkids. I will be updating the set but could do with a video on how to connect up the old controllers and where the wires go if you know of one. I may get new controllers after Xmas but need to do more research. Cheers John from County Durham.

Glad I could help, you may experience any cars made after I think 2002 catching on the old track. To connect the really old controllers which have a plastic block with two brass pins you need to look for a connection point on the straights. There are some good groups on Facebook that can help

Okay thanks for the video but I still have one question, can I use unchipped old scalextric cars on new track but with an old style power power base? So I'll have a track with old and new track mixed together but with an old power unit powering it. Thanks for any help

yes you can, you will need to use the adaptors to fit the old track to the new but the older powerbases will power new track.

old and new are the same, only difference is the connectors, surface texture and depth in between the rails.
